  • SEE YOU NEXT MONDAY FOR A NEW EPISODE OF 80'S HORROR MEMORIES!
The original Jaws is a classic that saw a young Spielberg at the very top of his game so early in his directorial career, and while Jaws 2 doesn't live up to the first movie, it still delivered enough scares and thrills to satiate fans. But what about the third entry? On today's episode, we travel to Sea World Orlando to be terrorized by that mechanical shark again in the preposterous but strangely entertaining Jaws 3!

Best thing, scene, and line from that movie:
Kathryn Morgan: "Overman was killed *inside the park.
The baby was caught INSIDE the park.
Its mother is **INSIDE" THE PARK."
Still get goosebumps on how well she delivered that dialogue.

I still love 3D as a cinematic format and watch everything I can get my hands on in 3D. While they no longer produce 3DTVs, there are plenty of 3D enabled projectors. And Jaws 3 is widely available in it's intended 3D form, though it is kind of hidden away as a special feature on the standard US bluray edition. The quality of the 3D is iffy, but there are some intensely strong, eye-crossing scenes of 3D. It's worth a watch if you're at all interested in the format.

I first saw this movie when I was 9-years old, when it first came out in 1983. My mother wanted to see Snow White instead at the theater, which had just been re-released and was playing in the auditorium next door, but I nagged her to take me to Jaws 3-D, so we saw that instead. And then right from the point about ten minutes into the movie, where it shows Shelby Overman's severed arm floating in the water amid a cloud of blood, I kept wishing we HAD just gone to Snow White!
For the entire rest of the movie, I just sat in my seat miserable and petrified, and everytime there was another underwater scene on the screen, I would instantly take my 3-D
glasses OFF, so the picture would be blurry and the ensuing shark attack easier to tolerate.
But towards the end of the movie, as I could sense the gigantic shark's own death was approaching, I put the glasses back ON, because I wanted to see the demise of that monster that had caused so much tragedy and mayhem in all its full 3-D glory! And I was not disappointed! The image of that huge shark exploding, and its JAWS
actually flying RIGHT OUT OF ITS MOUTH amid a cloud of gore and thunderous sound effects, was a horror movie CLASSIC!
Even though that movie gave me nightmares for nine months afterwards (how the heck it got only a P.G. rating I'll never understand), I somehow liked it, and couldn't stop talking about it to my grandparents and the other kids at school. And in a way, it's a good movie; it has good acting, likeable characters, and good thrills and drama. I have it on dvd today (along with all the other Jaws movies, Jaws 2 being my favorite of the four), and it's hard to believe this movie once scared me so profoundly.
I've still never gone back in the ocean again since I was 9, thanks to this movie. I forgot what salt water even smells like.

Another great episode. I didn't get to check "Jaws 3" out until it reached home video (unfortunately, no 3-D). I remember really enjoying the shark action back then (I was about 7). Over the years, I started noticing that not a whole lot happens in the movie until Momma Shark starts going off (way too far into the flick). It's a fair entry overall; however, the scene where Fitzroy gets crushed to death in the shark's mouth haunted me for a while as a kid, as at the time, I thought that was a particularly gruesome way to go. I'm loving this series. Can't wait for next week's entry covering "Sleepaway Camp." Great work guys! Cheers!

And lived in Orlando as an adult. And I assure you, kids... Orlando is in the middle it the state... a 2 hour drive any coast. And Sea World Orlando has NO ocean exposure! Therefore the true ridiculousness of this movie is the sharks getting into the park via the ocean. Haha. Movie makers really need to do a little research when making movies. Haha

How old is Tyler Nichols? He looks late 20s. I was 16 y/o in 1983 so there was no talk of this movie at all in my High School! However at home my older brother was pumped to see the exciting possibilities this 3-D format could bring to "Jaws"! We went to opening day and my brother was insulted! He went to the box office and asked for a refund because the movie wasn't just bad but an insult to the intelligence! You're only given a refund 15 minutes after the movie begins not as the end credits are rolling (at least that was the policy of that particular theater at the time.) My brother swore off 3D movies after that! I was disappointed but not as angry as my brother who vowed never to see another 3D movie again. There were not many more 3D movies for the remainder of the 1980s.

@@billyrattlesticks6949 Oh, I agree, this film is cinematic raw sewage but at least the shark, what little you see of it in the dark, looks good, and the shot from inside it while a victim is being eaten is effectively gruesome. The shark in IV looks far worse than the original Bruce with its HUGE pink gums! You can even see the hydraulics clear as day in a few shots. And the ending is horribly edited. Michael Caine is far better than anyone in this, definitely. At least, here there was SOME effort behind the scenes.

There was a lot of potential there in the film's aquatic park setting that just wasn't realized. The 3-D probably did more to harm than help it, too. • @-disaster-dimension-

The bluray is cheap to buy, but worth having for the 3-D version. The overt gimmick shots aren't necessarily the best 3-D the film has to offer, and some can be a bit harsh on the eyes.
Sadly the big money shot of the film with the shark crashing through the glass is just as wonky in 3-D.
A lot of the regular scenes play out different in 3-D. It's interesting. A very different feel to modern 3D, but also to 1950s 3-D. It's worth checking out some of the other 3-D films of the era that have been released like Treasure of the Four Crowns. 3-D Film Archive are working on a few more, including The Man who Wasn't There.

It is a truly horrible, horrible film.
And I watch it every time it’s on.
    Every time.

It is an enjoyable bad movie, which is something I can't say for the one that followed it. Oddly enough I saw Jaws 2 and Jaws 3 multiple times long before I saw the original.

I saw Jaws 3 when it was released. I would have told you that it sucked and to save your money.

It's not pronounced Al-vez. It's just Alves like rhymes with mouths

I honestly find Jaws: The Revenge to be a better film over Jaws 3. Revenge is bad, yes, but at least it is fun to watch. Part 3 is just boring!

    1) Masterpiece
    2) Disappointing and bland
    3) Campy fun
    4) Ridiculous but also dull

Fun Fact: Roy Schriever agreed to star in Thunderbirds just so he wasn't available for JAWS 3.

Rest assured; Jaws 3D had NOTHING to do with my love of the horror genre. In fact, I wouldn't even call it horror. I'd just called it complete trash.

This movie sucks, but at least it's not Jaws 4 . The flick's got some cool stuff ill skipped to the chapters, or what have you. But I'll never sit through the whole thing again.😅 😅

I didn't find it 'strangely entertaining.' I found it so bad, it's embarrassing! Shameful that a sequel to one of the GREATEST films ever made could be this horrible. Shameless cash grab in 1983!

Lot of good actors but they weren't so good in this one. Jaws 3 & 4 is on Netflix now

Man I detest this film, I hated it as a kid and I still hate it now, I've tried several times to re-watch it but it just bores the hell out of me, I think it's way worse than Jaws The revenge and that's saying something. I can never get past really bad special effects and this one has them in spades, literally every effect in the film is terrible.

3d is amazing and it’s sad these companies abandoned it. I still love Disneys 3d rides. What happened?? Did it just cost too much?? Why did studios stop??
