Ukraine Invites Mothers of Prisoners of War to Pick Them Up

  • Captured Russian soldiers are sending tearful messages to their families back home as the grim reality of war is sinking in for the Russian people. One Russian POW recorded a message directly to his mother to reassure her he was still alive. “I want to say to my mom, ‘Wait for me. I will return,’” he said. Published reports say the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has even invited Russian mothers to come to the capital of Kyiv to pick up their captured sons and take them home.

It's the Russian government's way. They always sacrifice large numbers of their own soldiers during their initial push into any given war. Even recent wars like when they invaded Georgia and Chechnya they had large casualties in first few days. It's like the government doesn't value the lives of it's own soldiers. The just look at them as statistics. They're just the 5k soldiers they intended to lose during the start of their war in order to see what resistance they're gonna have. It's sad. Its the same recording played on Soviet State TV when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 in an attempt to hide what was happening from the people.
