These baitcaster videos have been a game changer for me. I can’t thank you enough.

id say cast lighter lures helps to practice that, bc since i started fishing with BFS equipment, using 5g lures, my casting skills with 10g to 20g lures became much better too.
    Great video

I like using my baitcasters and do use my body like you mentioned and I have done the same thing in regards to buying these reels, I have my what I got and I am happy with their performance. One thing that I have learned with any reels is that you get what you pay for so I suggest in buying a quality reel. Great video and thanks for sharing this with us Randy!!!

I like rods with larger guides. My saltwater inshore rods cast further than my bass rods with micro guides. For spinning reels get long spool models, they cast further.

I grew up with Ambassadeur 3500C reels for salmon and steelhead. 8 1/2 ft rod. An old guy fishing one day showed me how to take the brakes out. Never looked back. Learn to thumb that spool with no brakes and watch the others get green with envy. Especially here in TN. " Boy howdy, that's a long rod you got there ! "
But if you really want to reach out, load up a spinning reel with Ardent Gliss 8 lb line. About the diameter of spider web.

Line capacity of the reel matters….the Lew’s reel Randy featured holds 160 yards. Of 12 lb. Test. That type reel capacity shines with deep cranks, etc…..a lot of the newer reels hold 120 or 110 yards of line….which really limits your casting distance with plugs. Rob

    randy is 1000% correct
    best long cast tech is
kvd watch him on deep cranking how he chunks it out
now I do keep up with reels that cast far
    hope this helps
    1. 13 concept
    2. still lews bb1
now 2 tricks to cast 10 yards more
1 braid backing then add your line of choice
    2. giving away my tricks
ok plug use hook worm same hook then take your hook to your truck anywhere so u don't scratch it ok
then walk off about 60 to 70 yards lock reel down then pull until it almost breaks then chill for about 10 to 15 mins
now reel in as u walk back
now I do 5 to 7 at time just lay the rod down against something to hold the line tight
u get better cast and longer cast plus helps with line being all twisted

Then forget trying to make these long cast at first unless you have extra line with you to replace The line you cut off from the horrific backlash.

But a good medium priced bait caster and a spool of cheap mono and start practicing in your backyard. That's the only way to do it without being in a boat and bird nesting every reel you have and then not being able to fish.

Randy, I just realized something. It's just a matter of time before someone gets a court ordered injunction to stop the use of FFS in a tournament. It'll come from someone that doesn't use it or feels that a person's skills for fishing has nothing to do with their digital technology skills, and gives others that do an unfair advantage.
To get a court ordered injunction, all any tournament anglers has to do is prove a reasonable argument that they will or already have incurred unfair financial damages due to it's use.
I don't know if you're willing to try, but honestly, what do you have to lose at this point? (When it comes to tournament executives.

I was listening until you said something completely backwards to reality lol on a spinner you need to put as much line as possible because it comes off better that way not going to explain... and on a bc you need to put just enough line on it and not fill it up to 1/8 trust me on this you will cast way past if u spooled up to much ps use 8x plus braided 30lbs line I use spider because it's like metal wire never tangles.. today I had a few cast out to around 80 yards could have been 100 😅 who knows exactly

I use 15lb braid on my weightless senko rod and my weighted worm rods. I can undoubtedly cast farther with 15lb braid vs 15lb mono.

I'm in indiana ....we don't have monsters much.....I don't like the way braid knots on a hard cast on baitcasters.....lost a few lures with un expected spool stoppage.....also don't like the way it feels thru guides on moving baits... I like it on spinning rods for skippin and such....no leader...feel that's a fail point

    • @kurtpotter6994
      @kurtpotter6994 Před 11 měsíci +1

Ok....your in Indiana...so you obviously have no idea what it's like flippin grass down in Texas with 50lb braid. 65lb is overkill. I fish here all year long and never broke my line. 8lbers everywhere. Your comment is obsolete.
