    I smiled to see your neighbor’s dog sitting on your lap as you worked. Clearly he is liking his new neighbors and all the activity. I saw later that his owners are keeping him confined to home. Sad for the dog..but I understand .

    What a beautiful place, and the progress you are making is fantastic!
    If round bales of straw are available, have you considered light clay straw (or slip straw) wall construction?
    Your videos are wonderfully made, and I’ll never tire of seeing your ink creations or hearing your soothing voice. Thank you for taking the time to share.
    Best wishes from Texas

      Hi, thank you very much for watching and the compliments! Round bales are available indeed, and we will consider the clay straw technique in the future if we add a room to the back! We have found reedbales instead, hope to get them in august. Thanks for following!

    From France, south west, thank you to let us discover seasons in north Europe, in a island, I am wondering, what makes the red colour of your walls, do you choose a special soil localy to have this colour? Baltik see I saw it decades ago as I went as an au pair in north germany.

    Another great video, thank you!
    I'm interested to see how you'll build the chicken coop: how will you protect them from predators? Or are there no real predators on the island?
    (Pas op: de links naar uw Etsy webshop en naar uw website Viibemaa werken niet. Bij de eerste mist een deel van 'atelier' en bij de tweede staat er te veel informatie, waardoor de site niet gevonden wordt. Zo komt het althans op mijn Mac met Safari over.)

      Bedankt voor het laten weten van die linken! CZcams doet daar precies gekke dingen elke keer ik een filmpje plaats. Ik hoop dat het nu opgelost is :) En bedankt voor het meevolgen. We hebben hier marters, vossen, slangen, roofvogels a volonté dus daar wordt zo goed mogelijk mee rekening gehouden in het ontwerp!

    Hi Laura, I love your videos. Thanks for sharing all your hard work! I have a question about the round wood house. What did you use to protect it from rotting in the ground and how long do you expect it to last?

    • @The.Land.of.Slow.Living
      @The.Land.of.Slow.Living  Před 2 lety +1

      We used pine for this, dug holes, and filled them up with gravel around the wood. the wood was first charred on the outside , and the underside of the trunks we also protected with a layer of rubber. I don't know, personally I expect at least 30 years,hopefully longer. We followed the recommendations in Ben Law's natural timberframebooks.

      It's okay but could be better. I would definitely not be able to do this if I have rent, mortgage and a lot of bills to pay in a city :p
