Hello, friends! So, the moment of summing up has come. This video contains all the best moments of building my dugout in the forest from start to finish. Thank you for watching all the previous episodes of construction. In this video you will see how I dug a hole, installed poles, made walls, installed a roof, a ladder to a dugout, a brick oven and other stages of construction of a log house in the forest. Enjoy your viewing.
I forgot to say before my channel was called "Life and survival in the wild"! By the way, you can find out how to survive in the wild by watching my videos.
It is my bushcraft 2021!

Hi! I decided to create a second channel "Sounds of Nature by ALEX", on which I will upload videos with sounds of nature. I love nature very much, and I like all natural sounds: birds singing, water murmuring, rain noise, wind noise. These sounds calm me down. If you have trouble sleeping or you just want to enjoy the sounds of nature, then visit my new channel. Today we will listen to the sounds of a hand stream. Looking ahead, I will say that it is here that I would like to build a small hunting hut. A magnificent quiet place where the water murmurs and you can retire with nature. Enjoy watching!

Hello, I learn a lot from your videos.
I'm filming a Bushcraft video in Korea,
I tried to give up because I lacked a lot.
After seeing your challenge, I gained hope.
I'm trying to make a great video like you.

When the weather turns hot you'll really appreciate the coolness inside the dugout. Nice build. Solid engineering.

If the Soil in the Dug out is mostly Clay based or lined with Clay? Chances are it’ll stop water seeping into the Dug out itself? In the same way as Clay lined Ponds, hold the Water, without it seeping away into the Earth.
As long as the Roof, Walls and Door is made Rainproof? I’t should be fine? Anglo-Saxon’s used to have similar Half Sunken “Grub 🛖 Huts” too btw, look it up.
I love how all of these nature Bushcracft channels are starting to go viral. The people need to see it!! Especially in this day and age. 💯

I think people are wanting to get back to basics even more so now than ever. I'd swap the house i own for a woodland if i could live on it.
They need to do more than just see it. People need to go practice it. Lots of ppl watch these and think they know how now but put them in the woods with a hatchet and they forget half of what they learned from videos.
No they're all destroying natural habitats

Thank you Alex for putting this dug-out shelter build in one video 👍👍👍🇵🇭
Thank you!
Whilst I just love this, it isn't "bushcraft". It is a couple of men (maybe dad's), building using modern tools, to build an amazing dugout absolutely, however, it isn't what is known as bushcraft.
A tape measure, drill, hammer and nails, perspex, a drum for a heater, tarpaulins, a chainsaw and milled wood....this is a weekender for the kids...
I DO love it, and I am gonna share it with my son in law, and tell him this is what I want, only bigger lol he has plenty of land AND it is very sandy, like in the video..
Edit. I didn't see the bricks for the fireplace...until now..
Lots of hard work put into this. But it's the reward of knowing you built this cozy cabin.
For a while, when I lived in Oklahoma, I lived in an older house with an attached storm shelter. The soil type was much like yours. I used it for a photography dark room, because, even in Winter, the temperature was very stable and easy to maintain with even a small electric heater.
Yes! It's very warm, I think even in severe frosts I will feel comfortable!
yeah super weird! its like sand almost looks like
I live in Oklahoma as well, and I kinda envy the soil type he has.
In my area, it's all compacted rock. You aren't digging a foot down, much less several feet down in it. Lol
3 mins in and this guy has done more work then 80% of people watching have done in a month, lol.

This is a nice build... I enjoyed the different camera angles (nice editing) and it was well-paced. You were lucky to have such sandy soil but it was still a lot of work. This reminds me of the sod houses settlers once built on the US Great Plains. Well done!

Well said.
Great job real hard work i think the building is very strong beautiful i love it
I have to go to Home Depot and rent a mini digger😁
My idea is to buy those tuff shed and bury it= underground bunker
And them sod houses are literally stolen from the dutch called a plaggenhut who have been building them for far longer lol

I've watched allot of these videos and this one made me late for work🤣. This video was full of great fabrication and problem solving. Very dynamic. I like the use of some man made items which could easily be sourced from scrapping or things lying around. People speak of building these as a recreational task. With what's coming at the human family if you have land time and resources I would suggest getting busy!!!!

Watching from Philippines,
Hello!
Thank you for showing every step you take. Well done!
Several things appeal to me about a dug out shelter. They tend to stay around the same temperature depending on the season. They are low profile. And I hate be such a girl, but they are just so cute! This is one of the nicer ones that I have seen.
Oh, thank you 👍😊
Big facts
Nice build! If I may suggest, use 4 mil plastic sheeting instead of tarps. Won't breakdown nearly as quick.
You mean like builders/concreters plastic?
Okay thanks!
@@andrewcheshire244 ya, and likely cheaper too
most plastics and nylon only killed by uv. this method looks more water repellent than leak proof. the wood lasts along time when you keep moist dirt away. most of the bugs need rotten wood for doing their thing, so dry wood is not attractive. termites bring moisture with them. it's a cool build. enjoyment for years, but I don't think it's something to last 25 years

The way at the end he builds a brick / concrete mass stove is GREAT. With that kind of stove, even if the fire goes out during the night, the sleeper will be able to make a good night of sleep without worrying about the fire going out as the brick will give out some previously harvested heat.
Yes! My shelter keeps a comfortable temperature with an extinguished stove for a whole day!

This looks to be easy digging. Up here in the north east the soil is compacted glacial outwash. Very rocky and difficult from roots. Nice structure!
I agree. No way you could do this in Vermont.
What are you talking about bro? The North East has some of the easiest digging of anywhere.
Anytime I’ve had to dig up land for various projects it’s been difficult. At least it’s very rocky near the Canadian border.
Of course I am talking of hand digging. In parts of Maine, rock blasting is required.
Every year we harvest more rocks out of the garden. (Mid coast Maine)
These videos are very calming. Good to watch before bed
Thank you!
Amazing. I am very impressed! Something very peaceful about this.
Beautiful! I am just about to become an adult and I you've inspired me to get closer with nature, I want to make a cabin I think.

You don't just think about this, you plan it out and do it. This guy didn't just wake up one morning and started digging willy nilly. Survey, plan, execute.

No matter the soil type its hard work. I always seem to find a bunch of big rocks here. I seem to grow them. I cant imagine all the work you put into this. Bet you enjoyed it all well most all.
Yes! It was perfect))) Now, I wouldn't agree to that. I don't know what I was thinking at that moment. The beginning of construction took place in the heat of +40 degrees Celsius!
Very inspiring! You did very well on this project! At sea level, my town cannot have structures like this unless we build atop a mound we create by spreading soil in a pile and then building into that. I'm very jealous!
)))👍
That's mean there was other structures made in your area...no worth to make dugout there...ppl 100 years ago wasn't stupid and they didn't needed a hype, only need they have was survive!

Used all primitive tools including that screw gun. The electric chainsaw gets a pass because it was afterthought use.
Freaking awesome.
My only question because of my lack of knowledge on building something of this nature ...
When it rains would the water not run down the entrance and fill the room with water..
Good point
I’m thinking where he built has pretty good slope. Hard to tell from the video but I’m betting it’s higher elevation and not in valley where water would pool.
Also it being sand, the waters going to drain right down and not pool up. He did line the walls with the tarps so it should in theory drain down and away.
Now if some freak storm hit hurricane style and dump massive amounts of water it might get a little wet down there but will eventually drain. He did have the raised flooring so he’d be fine.
You can tell by the dryness of the sand when he was digging deep which looked to be summer in the beginning of the video, he prolly doesn’t get crazy rains like that. All speculation and I could be entirely wrong but cool video
By no means critiquing him because the man built a beauty, but usually a drain hole Is put at the entrance
