- In this video, I go over how to form your beret. This is applicable for Air, Army, and Sea Cadets. Berets should be issued by your squadron but if you would like to buy one yourself you can purchase them off Canex, Canada’s military store.

Hello! Thank you for the video! I’m an Army Cadet and I joined a month ago, and I just got my combat and ceremonial uniforms, and I really didn’t know how to form my beret, so this really did come in handy, again, thanks for the video!

I am saying this as an army cadet, the easiest way and quickest way to form your beret is ironing it, Iron the formed side as you would with pants or tunic, then just wait for it to dry

Yes. You can just tuck the bow in to the back of the beret.

they say not to get the black leather part wet around the beret because it forms mold, i don’t know if that’s true or not, but i’m not risking it. 😬
Okay so you're saying hot water another guy said cold water which one should I use. And do we need to shave the berets
You do not need to shave the beret though i would recommend it. You must do it very carefully as you can shave a hole in the top. Once again, I will not take responsibility if you wreck your beret : ) . And the water temperature does not matter as much as you probably think it does.

I would assume no trench in the case of air as it is a style only adopted by some army regiments?

Your Supply Officer can order them from Logistik.

Hi, Great video. I was just wondering how to keep the Beret that shape every time you come to wear it. If you just leave it on a table will it not just lose its shape?
You're lucky to get berets, on parade many times in the 1970s was the problem of our Wedgies getting blown off by the wind. Plus you don't have brass hat badges to polish any more, or any brass bits to work on.
My my flight Sargent said that the inner liner needed to be cut out but I'm not a 100 percent sure it that's what I do. Can you plz respond so that I have the opinion on another person thx.
For some reason, our squadron have never in my cadet career handed out berets to us before... is the beret just a thing for certain squadrons or certain areas?
This is the first year that air cadets are getting issued berets so it might take a while before your squadron gets them.

Is the beret supposed to be tight on my head?
It should be snug not tight. A common misconception of how to wear a beret is by pulling it down. The beret should be more like resting on top of your head.

You can also do that in the shower to directly do it on your head
Forgot to mention to pull the liner from the flap, and you should wear the beret until dried.

I heard from rumours that air cadets can keep their uniform after aging out!?!? Is this true because my Sea Cadet Corps won’t let us?
You are not allowed to keep your uniform after aging out as it is the program's/DND’s property. So technically you're not allowed to keep your uniform in any element.

There is no leather on this beret. The black rim is made out of fabric.

Life saver
I found it a lot better to use a knife, a lint brush, and a spritzer bottle.
Freeze it if you can. Shave any excess wool off with a razor.
Is there a quicker way to let it dry or do you just have to let it sit?
In my sqdn, we were told to use a hairdryer on it while it's still on our heads to minimize the amount of misshaping as well as make it quicker
@@wowza6485 Yeah, I ended up using my hairdryer on low, it really helped a lot
