Can you post a video of the installation in an actual Toyota Highlander showing how you make the connection to XM radio? Theres a lot of comments saying the cable isn’t long enough. It would be nice for consumers to see the actual install in the vehicle.
@@christopherjamesrussell Hi, we will work on that, thanks for the suggestion. To give context, we had a longer flat cable that could let install the decoder under the XM module. However, this approach is very tight with Highlander unit and was causing connection issues plus the fitting of the whole head unit was too narrow with everything together. We now shortened the flat cables for this reason and also some other possible issues with signal loss. Now, with the short cables the only way is to install only the decoder under the head unit but leave the XM module behind the radio. Since the back of the XM module comes with short cable connectors we are adding an optional longer XM cable to allow more flexibility. This item will be optional and available for purchase, since not everyone wants to keep the XM module.
@@CarSyncTech Thank you. I ordered this from Amazon for my Highlander but I do want to keep XM radio. Please post a video within the next week so I can watch it before I do the install. Are you saying I need to order an additional cable? Someone else said the trick is to hook everything else up first, and hook the XM ribbon up last before pushing it back in place. Is this accurate? A video would really help clarify this.
I’m installing this now. Can I come back later and add the XM module with the longer cable connection? The XM radio connection is from the extended cable, not a ribbon correct?
@@christopherjamesrussell Hi, yes, sorry for my late reply. The XM module does not use ribbon cables it is just a regular cable on the back and it can be added later.
@@CarSyncTech I’m assuming the XM module will now be located inside the glove box using the extension cable? When are you going to have the cable? I’ll test it out for you if needed :-). I installed mine today and I am very impressed with the boot time and the clarity of the screen.
I've seen to run into an issue. I was installing the firmware after installation and may have unplugged the USB before the unit was finished installing (I waited longer than the 12-16 seconds listed on the packaging. My screen is now solid grey and I can't access anything. I've sent an email! Any help is appreciated!
I just installed this in my 2015 Highlander. There was a black wire that plugged into the former module that was removed. I could not find a place to connect it to the car sync module. Is that correct?
@@CarSyncTechthank you! Everything works, but I wanted to double check about that cable. The only other cable I didn’t use was the yellow video cable, but I believe that is for aftermarket cameras? Thank you for the clarification.
Hi, check all connections behind with the harness. Push them inside till they click. If the head unit buttons do not light up it is usually the harness connections on the back. If it is only black screen then check the flat ribbon cables that are correctly inserted, straight, not crooked. Hi, it depends on the Android device and software version. Lately manufacturers are limiting mirroring for safety reasons. MirrorLink app has been removed from the store. There is a global issue with this, our developers are working to update software but it really comes down to the android phone.
