- After putting it to the vote for what solo people wanted to hear next, Pink Floyds Comfortably Numb came in at the top. Here is a version paying tribute to one of the most amazing guitarists ever to walk the earth, Mr. David Gilmour. A great song, an amazing guitar player and an absolute pleasure to play. Enjoy!!! This solo is also #5 in the Gibson.com Top 50 guitars solos of all time!!
I will never forget the moment you pointed at my wife with your finger confirming that you were looking at her singing along and cheering despite the fact that she is 56years old, she felt so privileged, it was a definitive moment as a Judas Priest fan, thanks again Richie!
Be careful though. Last show I met a girl but her attention definetly wandered to Richie pretty often and she was super hot so he saw her. Luckily I play guitar and I look like a discount Richie so I got to be the stand in. I was so skeptical of him at first. Saw one show when he was new and begrudgingly accepted I didn't miss KK that show. Then I saw him a bunch more times and now he is among my favourite guitarist. Tipton, Downing, Rhoads, Iommi, Lee, SRV and Faulkner. Fk yeah. And being a Flying V fan I'll be building a replica of the blue one. No EMGs though. Sorry :)
8 years later, metal heads realize and acknowledge that this man pretty much saved Judas Priest from obsolescence.
I've seen them twice with RIchie and yeah he steals the show, but Rob can still do it all he's incredible
He is a great addition, but pretty harsh to call it obsolescence. We are talking about Judas Priest here, the greatest to ever do it.
Yep sure did iam a priest fan loved the other two guitar players but he definitely saved this band

I don't know about obsolescence, but Ritchie HAS brought some much-needed fresh blood to the songwriting.
Professionally performed by a master, all song is a delight to the ears. My respect Mr. Faulkner!

Surely this is the best cover of this famous solo ever... The tone is SPOT on, phrasing just perfect, I don't think anyone except Gilmour himself can touch this.

must say i have played this a zillion times, heard a zillion people cover it and this cover is THE most soulful i have ever heard he captures dave's spirit
I know nothing of heavy metal. I do not know of this artist.
I do know that this piece of art is staggeringly beautiful. The bends and vibrato are breathtaking.
The artists control of the instrument voice is masterful. He tributes the original lovingly, respectfully and with a gentle touch, yet paints it In a palette of his own.

No matter what gear he has, he absolutelly nailed the tone and feel of this solos! Big big respect to Ritchie Faulkner! One of the best performances we could see on YT or somewhere else.
The passion of that mans picking just pours right into your ears and does something wonderful to your soul eh!! Thank God for people who can do that to ya through their music!

This is the best cover version to this date. The vibrato on the first notes are really slow and wide/wobbly but still feels right on-pitch and very accurate all the time. I have no idea how you do that by bending up and down to seminotes that are not even in the scale. I guess vibrato is one of those things that cannot really be theoretically analysed and understood. It just "feels" right or wrong.

No doubt this is the best version of a lead interpretation for comfortably numb I’ve heard. Truly love Richie Faulkner as a late bloomer Priest fan, he’s the reason I went to the fire power concert a few months back. His stage presence is very cool. However, David Gilmore is the person who makes the hair stand up on my arms when I hear the original recording. Lots of feeling and emotion in that lead.

Excellent cover - just to say that this PF song is my all time favourite song. When I first heard it way back in the 1970's when it first came out on vinyl, I played it 40 or 50 times and bawled my eyes out every time I listened to it. Even now, I still find it difficult not to shed a tear every time I hear it!

This is on my "Favorites" list. I love this song, originally done by the composers, but this guy has a very defined, and well orchestrated individual interpretation.

Damn, no wonder why Judas Priest hired him to replace KK. Fucking amazing chops and the tone is about as close as you can get with humbuckers. People underestimate tone when playing covers.

I think he's a more-than-worthy KK replacement in Priest!

I gotta say, I have probably seen most covers of CN by David Gilmour but I have to say that this one must surely be one of the best I've heard!!! The way this guy plays the guitar, and the way he gets every nuance of CN is unreal!! I only wish I could play a fraction as well as he does!! Brilliant my friend - rock on!!

Since I posted my last comment about 17 minutes ago I've checked out a whole load of other covers of CN and I can honestly say that this one is by far the best!!! I don't know who Ritchie Faulkner is - never come across him before - but based on this playing I will be checking this guy out and if he can play other covers as well as he plays CN then, what can I say, he's awesome!!!!!!

When I hear cover I often have to switch off, especially when its not note perfect as it jars with me. But you have nailed this. The tone you get is so good and your personal phrasing is really enjoyable to hear. Thanks man. Great job :)
