I was not disappointed with the search results I found after typing in: “Heavy BBs in an AEG.” I was wondering what would happen if I used heavy bb’s in an aeg made for CQB and this video really helped. 😆🤷🏻♂️
Alright, alright, alright! You immediately earn my respect and a sub. As someone that had made videos for a long time, I have a massive admiration for the effort gone into this production. Like someone else here, I was a bit confused with the wording "hop down" as we refer to increasing the engagement as "hop up" over here but in terms of the video itself, I didn't want it to end. I would've gladly sat here watching an hour and a half of testing like this. Great job!
Really refreshing to see a methodical, scientific approach to airsoft! Great production value too. I'm definitely interested in seeing more videos from you guys in the future.
This man and this company deserves my Like. This is the first Airsoft channel i have ever seen something ive been looking for with Great tests and great footage.
Hey Guys, welcome to our first video!!! The 4UAD Hop Up Grading System test. Not only this test would test out an airsoft gun's hop up performance, it also gives the gun a performance score! We would like to know how heavy of a BB can your stock AEG handle? Leave some comments, and let us know your thoughts! #Smartairsoft
So you said the hopup in the gun in video was turned all the way down?? You mean all the way up?? Or did it have the hopup at its minimal setting?? I would think you’d test at maximum setting?? Please clarify
Finnally an Airsoft engineering/science channel! You got yourself a sub. Altough a little bit dimmed down, that is a good thing as it makes it more accesable to more viewers! I did myself also some research to see the influence of BB Weight, flow, and barrel ratio volume as a personal project for my academy (chemical engineering). Was thinking about making some video's myself but I would never be able to make quality content like you do! Edit: are you familiair with the 2k-design of design of experiments? A great way to get results, while minimizing the amount of tests. Great way to show internactions of different variables!
Saw your GHK Glock video then went back to watch every video, and here I am. You guys have improved a lot and you are also much more comfortable with your English a year on! Keep up the good work, this is the best content of this type in airsoft we've ever seen.
Thanks aaron and gotta say camera is one scary thing to look at. I got to say in the beginning looking at camera and speaking something I don't speak daily is hard as Fxxk. LOL still thanks for the support man, you are the man!

You are welcome!!! Thank you so much for the support! We sure spend a lot of time on the grading system, its something we hope to bring the market to another level! After the first season we will have one video that explains what grading system really is!
Love the video! You guys have done a great job of showing how a new airsofter should start to look at hopups and bb’s in airsoft. There are other variables you did eliminate which go into the stock performance of an airsoft gun but ultimately I think you guys nailed the basic concept impeccably. I’d love to see you guys go into more detail with this in the future.
Sub from me. As a long time airsofter, this is certainly the best explanation/ visualization and test of hop up I have seen. Well done. And I look forward to the rest of the series. Hopefully with more tests it would be awesome to show the inherent myth that raw fps does not equal range.
Great work! Love to see industry standard buckings and tensioners to be compared... maple leaf, tru sight, tnt, etc 😘 with different barrel lengths and diameters.... THATS the big quest folks 😎👍greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Love the video bro, I’m new to airsoft and I’m thinking about buying the “Umarex Tactical Force TF CQB 6mm BB Standard Action Rifle Airsoft Gun” and I was confused on what bbs to buy until I watched this video I appreciate that.
Glad to help buddy! Just keep in mind although heavier bbs can carry more momentum, the performance really depends on the hop up and the spring, little upgrade to your FPS and your hop up would give you a better performance when you use heavy bbs! Good luck!
Hi Nik! Still awake?! Man gotta say you have some young soul going inside you!!! Thanks for the comments it really means a lot to us! Stay tuned for more exciting grading system test!
4UAD SmartAirsoft to be frank, this is best video I’ve ever seen regarding how hop-up system works with scientific explanation. It’s simple, easy to understand through graphic presentation and real shooting demonstration. You have done really great work here.
4UAD, amazing! Best airsoft testing on CZcams! With your scientific approach and experience, what do you think is best setup for max bolt action sniper range? Straight trajectory and then overhold (aim high) or slight over hop and then learn how much to ‘underhold’ at closer ranges? If so, how much over hop is optimal (if we define it as amount of vertical climb in metres to the highest point of trajectory from the barrel when the RIF is fired perfectly flat). Thanks and keep up the great work!
Thanks buddy, to be honest we found the max effective range on a legal heavy airsoft shooter is around 70-80meter. Any range beyond that becomes like 50:50 you either hit it our not. The adjustments also depends on which field you play. Personally I don’t like to over hop my gun for the range, instead I prefer a little drop on my trajectory. If the target is too far I will adjust the angle instead of adding the hop. I found this method gives me the most predictable shots. Good luck hope this helps!

when you said "turn the hop up all teh way down" are you doing this test with the nub depressed entirely (down) or the nub initiating minimal contact when a bb comes through the bucking, as in turning it "down" the top spin...am just new to AS and trying to figure out which weight bb to get lol
?? bb weights usually range from 0.12-0.30? and even with the hop up turned all the way down the rifle is shooting those weights way high at what is pretty much average engagement distance? maybe he misspoke and meant to say "all the way up" but he said he turned the hop up down twice in the video so idk
cool video but you got the details behind magnus effect explanation a little incorrectly. As you said, the backward spin creates two different surface velocities on the top and bottom of the BB. When air flow is speed up, the pressure drops. When the air flow speed is slowed down, the air pressure increases. So now you have two different pressures. The higher pressure at the bottom pushes on to the BB which is countered by the lower pressure from the top. As it is lower, there will be a resultant force upward causing the lift through spin known as the Magnus effect.
Hey thanks for your thought :) And Your interpretation is closer to the "Bernoulli's Pri" The Magnus effect is often considered a particular manifestation of the Bernoulli’s principle. According to Bernoulli’s principle in a non-viscous fluid, the pressure decreases when there is an increase in the speed of the fluid. However, considering the example of a spinning ball in the Magnus effect, the rotating ball creates a whirlpool of fluid (air) around it, and experiences a force perpendicular to the direction of motion. We consider the viscosity of the fluid in the Magnus effect whereas the Bernoulli’s principle is mainly applicable for fluid without viscosity. While there may be situations where aspects of Bernoulli's Principle play a role in the overall dynamics of a system experiencing the Magnus Effect, the Magnus Effect itself is more directly related to the rotation of the object and the resulting pressure differences. I'm glad you shared your thoughts, and I welcome further discussion

Yep we didn’t know until we used it, since it’s free licensing, we just went on with it.
This video gets super rating for background black cat.
Gotta love cats
cool video but you got the details behind magnus effect explanation a little incorrectly.
Hey thanks for your thought :)
And Your interpretation is closer to the "Bernoulli's Pri"
The Magnus effect is often considered a particular manifestation of the Bernoulli’s principle.
