Silverado truck projects or technical terminology. Thanks for your time and help, channel is addiction to the tuning curves and learning how and why of it. Love your channel. 2 projects here a Silverado and a GM powered Mustang with as you guessed it, a wet nitrous oxide system. You are doing good getting me on board with the garage time and I enjoy the escape from the family. LOL. Great weekend to you.
Dude you should do some live videos for questions and answers
I do every Thursday at 8 est
It was my understanding that on gen v, you DO want one of the codes for the MAF to report an error, because if no error is reported, it will NOT fail into speed density mode. P0101, 102, 103... one of those need to throw a code. Also the enable/disable ECT for p0103, etc (just below the MAF Fail high/low) should be set so that those tests do NOT run, but you still want one of those three MAF codes to set off a DTC. So, you would set all three to No MIL Light and uncheck SES. That way they still throw codes, but don't leave your check engine light on. If the ECM does not detect a failed MAF, it will NOT revert into speed density.
I have been doing that with my cruze, and any other gen v vehicle I have worked on, and it seems to work like a charm. Have I been doing it wrong? Every tutorial I have seen with the exception of this one agrees with what I said, but I just wonder if I am missing something.
I also have a really funky issue that when I am running in FULL open-loop speed density, I end up running into an issue where, when logging lambda error for vve tuning, my AE UEGO gradually ends up reading full lean in the middle of logging, killing my data, and I can never figure out which setting is doing that. Someone had mentioned it could be the post o2 and/or the catalyst tests (it was in a thread on cruze talk). Like, it will run fine for my drive to work (about 45 min drive), but less than halfway there, it starts going lean until it reads FULL lean. The car still drives just fine though. I have also heard that if it runs excessively rich, the UEGO will show full lean. I have actually experienced this, but I need to know what your opinion and tech tips would be for setting up an e78 ECM for full speed open-loop density tuning using my wideband, as right now I am using my STFT for everything that is not full throttle, which works damn well, but it would be nice to have my wideband or my engine (whichever is the culprit) stop going full lean when I am tuning. Sometimes when I do a full reflash back to stock and start tuning again it does not do that, so it's for sure some setting that I am setting, but yeah. Any tips?
Hello,
Can you help point me to someone that can convert my 2013 mustang copperhead to Speed density? I know its possible as some of the cobra jet cars use a copperhead ecu without a MAF and added a map sensor to the i/o pins currently wired to the a/c pressure switch.
Thanks
I am looking to from the MAS for SD so I can run a Bird catcher scoop on my Gen V LT
Hello plz i wanna ask you if i have MAF deleted by tuning ill have low line pressure in my 4l60e? And how i can fic it plz ?
I got a mazda b4000 im wanting to put a supercharger on and figure a maf delete would work. Does this video cover info universally
Guys did he already upload a video continuing this going into how to tune a supercharged or turbocharged after removing the maf or is this the last video concerning this topic I need to know !!!!
Thanks for all your videos! Just wondering though... are you sitting in the garage with the truck running and the garage closed?
Haha, no, but I appreciate your concern
I have a lq9's
p59 that has IAC. I updated it to 3 bar & segment swap for flex
fuel. It fails the maf and runs with just those changes. The problem
im having is getting the maf to fail after Any additional changes i
make. I've went over tons of forms and changes and it still won't
fail the maf. Therfore I am unable to tune. Stock OS 12593058 ->
1262059 any thing you can think of causing the problem?
Silly question. The description on the MAF calibration says that it can be used to check for a bad MAF. My new trans rebuild shifts funny sometimes so I wanted to try to disable MAF to see if it makes the transmission smooth out.
Shouldn't be related to the MAF, most likely torque or timing issues
What program do you use? And is that the program works on
Do u know if its possible to diy delete a gm 3800 supercharged v6 maf ? Its the holden version without the map sensor. Unlike the usa 3800. Our pcm's r also non hptuners programmable.. idk most professional 3800 tuners delete the maf in the tune. Can i diy it & run a gague or something?
Did you stay with the SD or go back to the maf?I'm not sure if I want to make the crossover to SD.
If I want to turbo charge my eighth gen civic what do I do with the mass air flow sensor?
Just did speed density on my 5th gen zl1 we tuned the ve table car was running good but are start up was giving us a issue afr running lean and showing 22. I basically disabled my maf like u did in this video car ran good right after but that start up is definitely the issue no do u have any ideas
Do you watch the show engine masters on motor trend? They did methanol vs intercooling on an LS and long story short.. the manifold doesn't evenly distribute the methanol to all cylinders. Lots of people do it with no problems, but it is something to think about if you really start pushing this thing to its limits. When I do it, I want individual nozzles per cylinder
That would be an awesome setup. I would think there would be ways of ensuring better dispersement, maybe volute injection? Now that I'm going SD I'm tempted to look into that.
joshdrobny93 check out volute injection from pro meth.
Hello im a first time turbo owner installed on a ls4 an im having an issue with it not boosting i noticed when i decelerate in goes rich an when i try to go into boost it shuts off an hits high 22s lean any ideas id appreciate it
Thanks, I have been learning a lot from your videos. Any chance you will do one on scaling injectors without injector data?
Shouldn't be that hard, you have a wideband or you still using the narrow band sensors?
@@GoatRopeGarage I have a wideband in the car (2015 Challenger, Hellcat injectors for Flex Fuel Tune). I have tried using the stock hellcat injector data, but I think because the fuel pressure is different between the two car, my injector data is way off.
Can you get it running on the new injectors? I would just stick to the hellcat injector data and try to go through the first tuning steps. You're most likely right that your pressure is throwing it off, it's just a bunch of variables, but you're most likely better off leaving the static ones such as injector flow rate and fuel pressure settings the same and make your changes to your fuel maps to bring it in line with the new setup.
@@GoatRopeGarage Yes. It is running and driving. I think I just needed someone to reassure me I am going in the right direction, thanks.
You are, start at idle and move out, small increments, if you notice a pattern you might be able to shift your fuel tables by a percent but never go the whole way, say it looks like your table is 15% rich across the board try taking 7% out and go from there.
How can I get it to pass inspection in Texas with the MAF, cats, and rear O2 sensors removed?
Install them, then remove after inspection
Great and thanks for doing the SD from scratch. Mine is SD and I can edit and make changes now but want to know how it's done from scratch.
Congrats on 2K that was quick and should build up as your videos are nice for repeat views!!!
On the Gen V stuff is it ok to completely disconnect the rear O2s? I currently have mine connected, but zip-tied to the frame. I know on some Gen IIIs, complete removal would cause issues.
You'll just have to clear the codes for them. They are there for cat efficiency.
I'm running open loop speed density and it runs very lean on a cold start (20% area) until the engine warms up and is within a few percent. Any way to combat this?
How did you set your up for open loop ? Thanks sorry I don’t have an answer for your question haha
Dude where ru located? I have 2 diffrent swaps needs to be tuned, no one around here can do it
Hey man I have a 02 Camaro that I’m tuning for SD... I’m assuming I’ll also have to hook up the MAF sensor to be able to tune and utilize the IAT?
I would double check, you may have a separate iat sensor. If not you can use a breakout harness.
Hahaha that's a bad ass shirt
Not even sure where it came from, lol
What are you plugging the laptop into to modify all that? What devices are needed to do all this?
HPtuners
Are The Foctory MAF Still Need To Connected When Using This Setup Method ?
Only if it's used for things like barometric pressure
On a N/A sd tune. Do you pay the credits for the sd os. Just trying to learn while I wait for my hp tuners to get here. The car was already sd tuned before I got it and has no mass air. Where did your garage name come from?
Nope, SD it's just disabling MAF on your regular tune. Got the name from working on the farm growing up, lol
Goat Rope Garage thanks. Appreciate all the help.
Say you're doing street tunes using speed density only, and desire to work off of the stock O2 sensors (no wideband), MAF off, how would you approach this? Because in scenarios where you don't have a dyno, and installing a wideband isn't necessarily ideal from car to car. Been watching your videos, I pretty much have the method, but a point in the right direction would be great, thanks!
Wheel speed sensor is bad can I use hp tunes to view which sensor is bad
Don't think so, but check out the VXDIAG, it's like the factory scan tool, let's you check errors in every module, would probably help in finding a bad sensor.

Do you mess with dodge
A little and more in the future
I can tell you were loaded up with caffeine when you recorded this lol.
He probably smoked a bunch of meth.
