  • One question we get from a lot of people trying to build their car is, should I stick with the factory MAF sensor, or switch to a more simplistic Speed Density sensor system? Which should your car have? That is what Tiny Kyle is here to talk about today.

    Yes please make a video about O2 sensors and the difference between them and how to use their information while tuning. I know personally it is something that has confused me in the past, and something I still don't fully understand. Could help a lot of people out!

    That's good to know if you didn't know or wanted a refresh on how it all works. I was debating since I still daily with my car as well.

    I do not consider it that way, speed density is not an estimate, but rather a calculation based on pressure and temperature measurements. MAF is more estimative since it is affected by humidity and in times of high environmental humidity, the MAF filament cools more than normal and it gives very rich mixture values. I cannot consider one system to be better than the other, since it really is not like that, both are good and both reach the same level if they are correctly calibrated. on the other hand, MAP is faster in response than MAF.

    currently getting tuned with SD for my 17 sti. current mods are aem fuel pump id1050 injectors maperformance cai and downpipe, ewg with a flex fuel pro tune. was wondering how much itll affect daily driving, thanks for the brief video explaining the topic. im sure it wont be too bad but with the freezing winters in wisconsin im not to sure.... oh well more powaaaa

    Now when tuning, does it have to be one or the other?.. because I have both on my car...can I have MAF tuning for daily driving and street use.. and MAP (speed density) when I'm in the upper ranges or does it have to be one or the other throughout the band?...🤔
    Or would I have to create two maps(tunes).. ?

      certain ecu's switch between MAF and speed density depending on load, example. evo 10's

    Great stuff thanks for the info. Quick question. You said speed density is better for WOT applications. So why on gm cars does it Reference the MAF only, above 4K on the stock tunes?

    • @alexdillon5348
      @alexdillon5348 Před 2 lety +1

      as he said in the video, maf is better for drivability, and thats prolly just how they decided to do it, and also from what I gathered there's no real benefit to map tuning on a car with a stock intake, as the maf is still able to effectively read the volume of air going into the engine, rather than the hot wire being overwhelmed by a big ass race style intake or open turbos.
