While Fel did a great job educating the little girl, I feel we can also all learn from her. She noticed Fel had darker skin and said it out loud because that's what she saw. But that doesn't change how she treats him - friendly and welcomingly. The solution to racism is not to pretend we don't see colors and/or be afraid or ashamed of saying what we see, but to honor and embrace our differences and treat everyone equally with respect.

For people calling the kid racist or saying that the translation was wrong:
The translation was missing context bc "white" and "black" doesn't always refer to Europeans and Africans but is more commonly used to mean pale or dark/ tanned. Fel tells her she is white using the same words, not to mean she is European. In the context of the convo it's obvious she thinks that someone with darker skin means they don't wash their faces, because her sister then says to her immediately after, his skin color is natural, which she didn't realize.

@@everrgreen122 I think in some situations it's not intimidation but rather lack of opportunity to meet different people due to lack of money to travel etc. Like in Fel's videos there's lots of instances of people of simple means who are curious about him and talk to him and treat him well despite obviously never chatting with a person of a different race before. Growing up in the US I grew up w/ ppl of different races that I can't imagine if I didn't, if I'd be as chill chatting with a person of a different race for the first time or be socially awkward. That's why I think everyone finds these videos interesting, that it goes not as people expect which is apparently racial tension or whatever, but in friendliness and openness.

I thought she would be her favorite because she is closest to her age. I asked her why she didn't like her, and she said because her skin was black, and I told her that it is wrong to not like someone because of the color of their skin. That is being racist. She said that it's not because she's racist. She said because black isn't her favorite color. I like her, just not that color. I told her that we know you're not racist, but someone who doesn't know you would think you are. She's fifteen now and she's had friends who are transgender, bi, and all different races. Imagine an American or Canadian walking up to the same scene and ending the encounter with a lecture to the kids about their educations and then an apology to the stranger for the kids potentially being a nuisance. Also - though this little girl is obviously unusually bold and venturesome - the fact that a 4yr old and a 9yr old can randomly sit and eat with an unknown adult male speaks very well of Chinese society. Their sense of shared humanity has clearly not been corroded by a political culture based on fear, such that the natural ingenuousness displayed would have already been socialised out of the girls. Dad's ease with the situation is also instructive :- any Western European or American dad in the same situation would be bent out of shape because their response would be dominated by fears of abduction and/or paedophile grooming.

The younger girl is so innocent, adorable, energetic, and inquisitive, while the older one is so mature, perhaps more so than a lot of adults! The parents clearly have done a great job bringing them up!

These kids were adorable and you handled that so well! It was so refreshing to see innocence learning and expanding their limited perspectives. Tbh, when comparing these two to western kids who are stuck in front of screens all day and can’t socialize without having an anxiety attack let alone talk to someone that literally could be an alien from their worlds view, this was so wholesome and gives me hope for the future.

So glad this popped up on my recommendations. 😍 I wonder how this beautiful and positive interaction will shape her life. Will it inspire her to want to visit other countries when she is older? Will it inspire her to teach others about tolerance of diversity? The girls will take away so much from this interaction for the rest of their lives. ❤

Don't want to speak for everyone but being Chinese, imo asians just say things exactly as they are, very blunt when stating facts and for the most part there's generally no ill intent. This was an amazing interaction to see and glad you took the time to educate.

Your right but also depends on how they were raised - my family is reserved and shy to say the truth especially in confrontation but i definitely do see a lot of asians with this sort of personality (excluding japan and korea cause they extra polite and stuff apparently)

Noone feelings get hurt, because culture understand the concept of being true.
Unlike the west...its the west that has problems with appearing to be x or z..no wonder you can see hypocrits in the politics. Its just accepted to lie and to pretend.

I'm an American black man living in Quezon City Philippines! I experience similar encounters with Filipino people, especially the children who don't have any experience with American citizens like me. I feel like a celebrity when I am out in public...most people are very friendly. Of course there are some people who are racist...although they don't show it as much as I experience in American citizens ❤

Good job, Fel. Your rapport with the kids are admirable. Your understanding of their innocence is much appreciated. Instead of taking offence you educate them and their acceptance of you readily as another human is testament that people need to communicate with each other. BTW, the older girl looks like my own daughter when she was the same age.

Really liked your video content and the way you approach the Chinese culture. Honestly there are a lot of misconception of Black people (Black Americans in particular) because of the horrible chain stories passed around from the Asian expats. It created a barrier and resentment between Blacks and Chinese. I hope we can see more cool dude like you around. Keep up the good work, wish you the best!
