You were actually a huge inspiration that kind of confirmed that I could shoot a full length feature film, all by myself, and be the only actor in the film, which I went ahead and did, during the pandemic, on my phone. It became an award winning film. And so, thank you. 🙏😉
Link to the film I’m currently working on my own film by myself and the only actor
Could you send the link, exicted to watch it
@@RockWILKis there somewhere i could watch it?
Zzyaammm yeah definitely gonna scroll for that link
Whats the name of the short film? I would love to watch it!
I love how your videos still feel like a movie even when you're teaching us about filming. You're just on another level!
I must agree and I’m taking notes lol
Bro you're honestly one of the best creators here on CZcams. There's something about your videos that just feels right.
Loved what you did with this one! As a CZcamsr that films alone a lot, it was super interesting to hear your thoughts and advices about the process.
Keep it up king!
Filming by yourself is super hard. But still easier than having friends after 30
You're a beast. Filming by yourself is sooooo frustrating. It's inspiring to see you laughing and having fun with it.
BRO THIS IS PURE GOLD! 🙌 I’m sure there are many takeouts from this but your storytelling is always a treat! Thx for the inspiration 🔥
Thanks so much dude I appreciate that!!
I agree, this is amazing info❤❤❤
for sure is beast
Pls I'm a Nigerian, and I want to open PayPal but it refuses to open here in my country, can someone help me with that, I need it for my business
@@hggy Pls I'm a Nigerian, and I want to open a PayPal acct but it refuses to open here in my country, can someone help me with that, I need it for my business
These are always fun for me to watch. I feel like you are one of the best at this Jake. I've been struggling lately in the very very early phases of shooting my own CZcams content, and filming solo as both the "talent" on-camera and the operator is quite a challenge, especially when you want to make it interesting. Something else that I think not a lot of people talk about is that it's kinda hard to get together with people to film if you are in certain phases of your life.
For me I'm 33 with a full-time job, a business that my wife and I also operate, and a 4 year old son. Most of the people I know and call friends are either 500 miles away or living a similarly hectic life that make shooting together basically impossible. These tips and just watching your content helps remind me that it is possible to do it by yourself and do it really well. It just takes patience and creativity as you mention. Thanks for sharing man.
One of your best videos, the way you back up the tips with your visual storytelling is chefs kiss. I also think you have some of the best composition I've seen on CZcams
Every video is like a little movie and I am always looking forward to. Your storytelling is just on another level.
You are hands down one of, if not my favorite film channels to watch. You have a great talent in telling your story in away that's easy to relate to. Thanks for taking the time to share all your valuable knowledge. 🤘🏻
This helps so much as a solo backpacker/filmmaker! The thought process can be carried to any genre. Instant sub.
Pls I'm a Nigerian, and I want to open a PayPal account but it refuses to open here in my country, can someone help me with that, I need it for my business
Ahhh Jake!!! Blowing my mind!
One of the reasons I love your channel is that I learn so much about solo broll just by watching your videos. Now with the explanation added… You’ve tipped the scales.
I’ve been obsessing over the dutch angle lately. This foreground tip just pushed it to the next level. Even if you jacked it, super helpful.
And the B Story is honestly exactly what I need for the video i’m working on. I don’t have a plan for the B-Roll that aligns with the topic so this is also super exciting…
Man!… I can’t emphasize how good this is for me. So much value being emparted.
So keen to give these tips a go
Another great video. I personally like the idea of building an audience that doesn’t expect an elaborately produced effort every time I upload. That being said, i want to have the occasional surprise to let them know I can. And its so fulfilling to create awesome content. Its just a lot of work committing to it when I am always alone. Im realizing its a must if I want a certain level of success here. So Thank you.
I think I just admitted to my own laziness 😱🤓
I know exactly what you mean!! It's really hard to find the right balance
JakeI absolutely love the van, videos, lifestyle you have man . I hope 2023 is nothing but success for you! you got a supporter, subscriber here!
These visuals are so underrated. So lovely - especially some of those wide low shots. Amazing!
Love some new tips from Jake! I can't wait to use some of these on my next Chicago vlog! Thanks dude and keep killing it!
I think this is one of the best creator videos I’ve seen in a good while, love your ability to explain the pain points of solo creators. So incredibly useful! That understanding of how to evoke feelings through the composition is not natural to me so this video was a bit of a lightbulb 💡 moment for me. Thank you!
Been watching your videos since your 2019 reflection. I can say that you're one of the best filmmaker youtuber out there. The chill atmosphere you give in your every videos are what makes you unique and great. Keep up 🔥
This was fantastic. Video itself is a vibe, and also learned a bunch of helpful gems for how to think about solo-videography. Thanks Jake!
Beautiful content , the lighting the story telling and everything else was flawless can't wait for more
I loved your video. I agree 100% with your final thoughts: filming by yourself can be very frustrating and time-consuming, you're gonna miss focus and mess up the frame and composition but you learn a lot by doing any single aspect of making a video. I just started and I am a noob but I know that trial and error is the best way to improve. And that's what I love about it :)
Bro, I LOVE your vibe. A rare kind of charisma that makes me want to sit around a camp fire and listen to your stories. Thank you for this video, this was what I needed. I have a travel channel, but I want to go more into personal storytelling where I need to film myself and start talking about things that matter to me. Your content gives me great inspiration for my future content. You, sir, are a legend. Thank you, thank you. 🙏PS I subscribed immediately.
Wow i think i remember that video you shared a couple years ago. You’ve grown since the days of nosmallcreator, when i first learned about you.
Your content is so timeless and fruitful. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for all the tips, Jake! Your videos are so so inspiring!
This is really inspiring. I've struggled with self-filming for a long time (and trying to find my way around it), but this kinda makes it a bit more interesting.
Thank you for this bro. Been a director for over a decade and filmming myself always sucks. I’m so used to being behind the camera.
It was therapeutic to listen to you especially at the end!
Literally first time watching your videos, but I felt that ilysm at the end of the video deep in my bones. Thank you, Jake.
I love the care and dedication you put into creating this video. It is a beautiful piece of art
So so so good! ❤ Thank you so much for all your hard work and energy that you put into your videos! Deeply inspirational and very helpful!
Just starting off my career as a content creator and wasn't to sure on how to film myself. I can tell these tips alone will aid to my success tremendously. Much appreciated!
Awesome video! Really helpful, thank you so much for sharing. Loved how you went beyond the technical aspect and focused on conveying the feeling and the B story - all the elements that make up the message. Keep it up!
love this! def agree with the “getting bored of a locked off shot and finding new angles”!!! my biggest pain point with filming myself is figuring out how to manually focus myself 🥲 any tips on that?
Great video. I'm sure other creators talk about this but I've never come across them. The video itself is a great example of the techniques Jake is talking about.
This was incredible! I’ve learned so much. I love that you approached it from perspective instead of technique and equipment. Killer video!
another intentional, hand-crafted video that gives us new tools in our tool box. Thank you!!
This has inspired me to head out tomorrow and try to film. I may not end up making a video, but I guess it is the practice and the consistency of doing the act that will improve the result over time. thank you
Thanks for posting this! I've been trying to learn how to film myself and it has been such a struggle. I feel more encouraged now!
Your production level has gone up so much man, both story wise, visual wise and editing wise. Thanks for pushing ahead 😊
Your composition and color grade and style in general are absolutely lovely. Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate, I watch your videos with so much pleasure every time Jake, a feast for the eyes. Another great angle to add to the video and spice up the car scene is an internal profile shot with the camera mounted on the internal top handle to kinda simulate a pasaanger view of the driver. Aidin Robbins makes great ones.
Hey Jake. I have no knowledge on filming or photography or anything like that, but what an inspiring message. Although it was about filming solo I found there were some messages that even came through as life lessons, and that complimented the video so much. Well done!
Tried to film myself this morning and got so frustrated. Found this video this afternoon and it was genuinely so helpful, even the last tip. I gotta be patient. Thanks man.
This is my first time to come to your platform but I got hooked up with the part of this video wherein there's a windom and you just sat down. I love the light that comes through the window
yessirrrrr this is pure gold thanks bud, def implementing this stuff
I do hiking videos and always solo, it definitely would be easier to have someone, but it is what it is. Great video Jake!
Every obstacle that comes in life should be studied and learned.Obstacles are sometimes our best teachers,as we always can learn something from them, and improve our selves! Keep doing great job!
Love your videos. So many people made this video about filming yourself. Everybody tells the same. Yours is different. Thanks.
Step 6 - ask your elementary school teacher if you can get a class fog machine.
You crushed it man!! So stoked on this!!
Actually just ignore all the other tips and get a fog machine. No matter what it takes.
Was it fog or haze 😃 ?
Jake this is just brilliant and the frames you did in those movies are just simply amazing. Well done, a lot to learn for me !!!
Thanks for the update Jake. Helpful tips & just kickin my ass to just do it😊
Great video Jake! Super helpful! Can’t wait to see the rest of your tips!
Good tips. I got a dji mini 2 drone over the summer (not the greatest one out there but 4k atleast). Adding the drone as another tool has been nice to spice it up, and add some motion, from just tripod shots. Obviously not everyone can run out and buy expensive drones, and not everyone can fly one efficiently. But for solo content creators they are really nice to have
thank you for this! i especially love the dutch angle tip and the one where you placed the camera on the tree trunk. will try it out in my next travel vlog!
im out here trying to find the best gear, going through film school just reminded me to start w the basics. I appreciate this video a lot.
Love this! Just starting a film channel and this is great advice, and packaged nicely in a story.
how warm it is to watch your videos.
like you are sitting just near at the same table)
cheers!
Always coming through with the valuable info and advice!! Thanks Jake!!
Man thank you so much for this video, I was convinced that in order to make good videos I needed to have someone else there to get those dynamic angles and pan shots etc to make the vlogs more versatile but I realise that's not needed now! I'm really trying to become a youtuber and spread my message through this artistic expression here. Thank you again man!
the immersive camera on the tree while you running trough,
Dutch angle,
great great ideas, so nice result.
Thank you for sharing,
right reach your followers
This is really helpful, thank you Jake!
This dude is awesome! He’s one of the main reasons I got into filmmaking. I just wish he uploaded more.
Thanks so much for this helpful video! I’d like to make shorts and your tips have given me the help I need to get started. Bless you!
Perfect timing. I hope you have a amazing year 🎉
Just got my fx30, looking forward to putting to use these tips to help create awesome solo films and story! Thank you for all the tips and beautiful images, keep up the great work Jake 😁
Honestly, this is the best tip video for filming yourself I have seen. Each point you made is real and not just the same bs tips most people give. Thank you! Oh and you have an amazing energy about you. Going to now binge watch your videos 😂
Just wanted to say thank you. This was a suggested video and wow. Thank you for being humble about filming by yourself.
These tips are gold! Thank you so much
Thank you so much for your ideas. I love the way you share them with us.
I am planning to make a short film by myself and your videos are inspiring me.
Muchas gracias, from Spain!
Thanks for the tips! I loved how you break the conventions to keep challenging yourself!
Thanks for this video. I'm just getting started with vlogging. This definitely points me in the right direction.
This is awesome! Thanks for the time you put behind this video for us!😊
Jake, you are my inspiration!!
Great list of tips here! Love the shot outside of the van, I've used shots like that or even mounted on the hood of the car pointing back. Will have the try the Dutch angle sometime...
JAKE! Thank you!!! ive been having this fear of filming myself but ill take ur advice & just do it!!
Your Awesome for the knowledge and breakdown of basic composition and creativity!!! Ill be following more of your videos. Thanks!
Thank you Jake, i was overwhelmed by just thinking about solo filming. But this video gives me hope.
Thank you for this! Really insightful. Also I loved how the car sound is on key with the music!
This is one of the most enjoyable videos I've watched on CZcams in a while. Great work 👏
Cracking. Thanks Jake. Will be trying to tell some stories using these tips 🙏
Indeed! This is very helpful to me as a beginner. Thanks Jake!
Ooooo the ending 🤗 I tend to isolate during learning and creativity. We have house guests and all I can focus on is my projects. The ending got me 🤗
Loved the first video on this and made me want to film some stuff by myself, this has concreted that!
love your simplicity and good vibe on make art bro, it's so inspiring
This was epic. Absolutely loved it. Beautiful footage
Great content mann! Thank you so much ✨️
The part about compositions is indeed very effective
The intro was funny as hell. Great video since I'm stuck filming myself a lot. The notion of composition alone makes it worth it. I never thought about it.
Having fun with your new fog machine at the beginning I see ;)
Thanks for all the tips! The dutch angle one is golden. I think a side point to being patient and having fun is to allow yourself to be naturally goofy and weird. (Depending on the subject matter of your solo film of course.)
Your backlighting in the van really brings out your eyes btw
Thank you for this. Merry Christmas ⛄
These are incredible tips, thank you! Can’t wait to try out the foreground shot
Brilliant Jake mate, I appreciate this video as I am in the same boat living in a town with a population of 9 people. I am in a small country town in outback country Western Australia - semi remote. Thank You & Marry Christmas. May 2023 be all that you want and more. Cheers
Love it! Great practical advice! Thank you Jake!
This is SO helpful, thank you 🙌 I needed this today!!
Man, I just watched your video and got so much inspiration as I do film solo. You just gave me a whole new perspective. I wish I could collaborate with you!
This is everything. How you use sounds to draw my emotions 🥺
I'm trying to film a movie by myself at the moment. Something I've done is take a tripod/selfie stick with a gimbal attached to the end of it, and it allows me to track/truck with my feet and face pretty well. Also utilizing times of day to shoot, sunrise/sunset does wonders.
I'm wanting to get into making videos, but I for sure have no one to film with. Can't wait to try these tips. One thing I really want to try is shooting a wider shot at a higher resolution than I need and then creating artificial movement when editing. Not sure how it'll turn out, but I'm excited to experiment.
I just wanted the video to keep going!! This was awesome thank you
This is exactly what I needed! I was kinda losing inspiration and just feeling... BLAH. But this is giving me life and motivation and inspiration!
Ah I'm so stoked to hear that! You got this!
Salute for making your own film directed by your own and cast by yourself... surely not easy and taking more time to shoot but you did great Jake!
Bro you dope in every way, you’ve just unlocked a bigger brighter part of my cranium🙅🏿
Great video! I'm starting vlogging on this channel but definitely keen to be more cinematic and tell stories more so than the average travel blogger, so filming myself will be a massive part of it. Thanks for the tips!
