The second Lucifer dismisses Alastor the game was ON. He’s got a serious inferiority complex but Lucifer clearly outpowers him so he’s using any advantage he has, his relationship to Charlie
Keep in mind that Alastor insulted him first, and was clearly unhappy with Lucifer's presence before that.
My theory is Alastor wants Charlie to depend on him, and if Lucifer is in the picture and actively helping she won't need to, so he was trying to drive a wedge between them. And completely failed. I think this is the first time we see Alastor really lose.

I'm starting to wonder if Lilith was keeping Charlie from Lucifer as well. And she has Alastor babysitting her and trying to keep Lucifer from her.
@@neolithiumproduction That’s a really good theory and likely what’s happening. When Lute tells Lilith that Charlie is “threatening the foundation of heaven”, she looked very annoyed. She knew that if Charlie and Lucifer met up again, she would ask him to help with her idea of redeeming sinners which would cause a war with Heaven which could result in Lilith getting kicked out, which she obviously does not want. She made a deal with Alastor for him to kind of babysit Charlie so she wouldn’t need to call on Lucifer, encouraging her dream but not letting it come to fruition. That’s why he was being so mean after Charlie failed to convince Heaven of her idea.
They depicted depression really well. You get stuck in a haze and everything gets blurry. Like I am sure when Charlie asked Lucifer about his thoughts on the hotel....it was part avoidance to answer the question, part not wanting to be honest and hurt her feelings (as he is been doing throughout this ep.), and part him genuinenly not catching whay she was saying and geting atuck in a haze/ zone again. Sure it comes off as ditzy in a way....but once Lucifer does catch on what Charlie is saying he does reveal his views in a way he thinks wont hurt her. Saying its not her fault and sinners are just hopeless.
I am really hoping he moves into the hotel with the gang. Guy needs help and company and loneliness is driving him crazy.
I think it's also partially guilt. It's only a theory but I'm guessing that Lucifer was actually the first one to notice that the overpopulation in Hell was becoming a problem and tried something similar to what Charlie is doing here. But when he tried to convince Heaven to go along with it, all he really accomplished was bringing the issue to their attention. Which I think probably resulted in the first purge of hell. Lucifer didn't have the power to fight all of Heaven, so the best he could do was make them agree to not target Hellborn demons like Charlie. Don't know if this is true but it would help explain how jaded he is.

Also the way he avoided calling her or seeing her. Depression convinces you that you're a burden to those you love and you just...start to avoid even approaching others. I feel so much for him, having been through it myself. =(

@@ap7635I don’t really know what timeline you are depicting for him, but I am pretty sure Lucifer was referring to the time cause when he was an angel being said in episode 1. I think when Lucifer got banished to Hell, he just gave up and let the exterminations happen.

I believe that "Fuck you" from Alastor is the first time we hear him swear. Also you asked if Alastor knows Lilith, the fan theory is that its her leash he is on, and thats the real reason why he took an interest in Charlie, because Lilith told him to go help her.
Also noticed when Charlie is asking her dad about the plan on the balcony, you can see a shift in Vaggies body language when Lucifer brings up heaven having rules and not being open minded
I think it's also a theory that in the pilot, he tried to make a deal with Charlie so that it would restrict the deal he had with Lilith and put her in the palm of him hand. Thankfully, Charlie is smart. Also, that he's trying to get closer to Charlie, so she'll trust him more.
A detail in the pilot that adds onto the fact Alastor is on Lilith's leash is when Charlie calls Lilith for help. As soon as the call ends Alastor is at the door.
Meaning she sent him in her place to help her daughter and keep her safe.
But We all know Alastor does not like the position he is in from the interaction with Husker.

Angel's payment from Val is money and fame. Which, of course as he has long-since realized, are very, very, very shallow payments.
Husker's payment from Alastor, I presume, was to essentially have Alastor loan him souls, likely to pay off the rest of his gambling debts, and he gave his own soul to Alastor as "collateral" until he could repay the debt and its interest. But given Husker's attitude, it seems like he either defaulted on the loan or it's so astronomically high he could never repay it, so he's now permanently on Alastor's leash unless Alastor offers him another way to repay the debt.
So if Alastor, possibly the *greatest and most intelligent Overlord in Hell*, either sold his soul to Lilith or offered it as collateral as they worked towards another goal, something he *would not* be tricked into doing....
What could Alastor POSSIBLY want badly enough to willingly stake his own soul on a bid to get it?
Well.... more power is the easiest and most reasonable answer... but he is already a frontrunner for most powerful Overlord in Hell. And as a Sinner, he's mostly confined to the Pride Ring, so he can't be looking to expand to another Ring.... and the only positions higher than Overlord on the Pride Ring are royalty. As in the Morningstar family and Lucifer himself, the Sin of Pride.
Alastor is the villain hiding in plain sight, setting his dominos in place as he prepares to make a play for the Throne of Hell. I don't think he wants to simply be free of his deal with Lilith so much as he wants to *satisfy* his deal with Lilith, which will somehow result in him taking the throne from Lucifer, either by inheriting all of Lilith's power and becoming powerful enough to rival Lucifer, or by making a deal with Charlie to blackmail Lucifer into surrendering his throne.
Lilith, in my estimation, felt Lucifer was failing in his role as Ruler of Hell and Sin of Pride, so somehow secured ascension into Heaven, as she was originally a mortal soul, and I believe she has asked for Charlie to be allowed to join her. But in Ep 6., the Seraphim says that the Exterminations are because Hell was uprising, something I imagine Lucifer is supposed to prevent.
So Heaven's price to Lilith was to find and prepare a suitable replacement for Lucifer, one who will stamp out the uprisings and put a stop to the turf wars between the Overlords. And Alastor is a *perfect* fit; he has no patience for fools, he's power-hungry, he favors order and control, and most importantly, he's a perfect replacement as the Sin of Pride, because he's incredibly arrogant and particular about his appearance and reputation.
He's annoyed when Carmilla suggests they haven't wondered about his absence, he didn't care about resuming his rivalry with Vox until Vox basically roasted him in a broadcast, and his *visceral* reaction when Husker noted Alastor himself was on a leash spoke VOLUMES. But the biggest hint, to me, is that Alastor sees Lucifer, the *first time* he's in a room with someone objectively more powerful than him, and he immediately engages him in a pissing contest.

Alastor being so openly hateful to someone is really interesting, especially when you look back at how he acted towards Nox where he never lost his composure even while being dismissing of him.
This is likely tied to Lilith who's probably the one holding ownership of his soul (guess he probably hates the lover of the girl pulling his leash)
I'm pretty sure it's because Lucifer didn't know who he was. He gets really annoyed when people don't know or care about him. He loves attention.

Remember he came out and glared when he saw everyone cleaning and putting up a banner. He did the same thing when Carmilla said "not really" when he said if she was curious where he disappeared. He had also asked Zestial what theories were going around about where he has been. Alistor doesn't like it when people don't care what he's up to.

@@shadow-faye based on what we've seen in clips tho elder isn't any specific type of angle its more about age because if you pay attention to the opening of the first episode it refers to the elders and shows a group of angels that are all different types so while the seraphim could still be the most powerful in terms of power it doesn't mean they're ranked the highest in terms of ranking if you think about it in a real life example most Kings aren't stronger than their soldiers but they're more powerful

Lucifer/Lilith deliberately struck a deal with Heaven/Adam to spare the Hellborn. It's alluded to in the first episode- in exchange for non-interference, the exorcists will not kill anyone whose presence in hell couldn't be helped by the circumstances of their birth... namely Charlie. As for the sinners, it's noted in his dialogue that he likely tried his best to make things work and they trampled all over his dreams by being violent and destructive.

I love this so much because Charlie is the spit of her father. Like, not to dump too much info but my parents split when I was young and my dad died when I was 16 but to this day my mom tells me I’m so much his son, to see them get to reconcile that had me genuinely sobbing like a bitch.
Also I really appreciate how they highlighted like, how depression fucks with your perception of time and your memory. Lucifer can’t remember where Charlie said she was despite calling her 5 months ago to try and warn her off this by exposing her to Adam. Like you really can’t grasp shit like that when you’re depressed (and have AuDHD but shh) and this was such a good depiction of someone who is, at heart, good, but stuck in their own head.
Damn sorry to hear all that, similar to me, my mam and dad were split by the time I was old enough to realise and he passed away when I was 7 so I don’t have too many memories of him. But I’m always told out of anything, I definitely inherited his appetite 😂 so that’s something
This ep called out everyone with a rocky family history. My parents split when I was a kid as well. I sadly can’t say comparing me to my father is a good thing, though. So, ‘More Than Anything’ ripped apart my heartstrings. It’s currently fighting tooth and nail with ‘Stayed Gone’ as my top song in the show.

Alastor yanks on Husker chains just like Valentine did to Angel Dust and the fear in the eyes is exactly the same. Just as Husker told Angel you aren’t unique.
I actually saw a comment that sums it up well, Husker actually has it far worse. Angel knew what he was signing up for and the abuse he takes, while horrible, always seems to end. It comes and goes and he can live his life in the mean time. But Husker, he has no idea what he's in for. Alastor isn't predictable like Val, he doesn't have an open goal or drive like Val. Alastor could just snap at any second and tear Husk apart for literally no reason. The difference between living with cancer or living with a bomb chained to your chest and no idea what the trigger is.

He didn’t sign up to be physically and emotionally abused, r*ped, and financially exploited to the point where he couldn’t make rent on his apartment because Val takes pretty much all of his money. He gets treated like shit in the studio (obviously) and gets punished if he leaves without permission or disobeys Val. He may be able to “live his life”, but he’s never free. They both have it terrible, you don’t need to downplay Angel’s experiences to say that Husk’s situation is also terrible and scary.

This character is so well written by Viv and acted by Joel Perez to make us hate him so much. It’s easily for the charming villain to be loved and his evil deeds against those characters we love hidden except for very rare occasions,Alastor is 100% the second type of evil character. Where Valentino doesn’t hide his depravity or evil and simply accepts who he is , and like someone once said every great villain accepts he is right, Alastor hides his except in defense of the hotel.
I mentioned this several times here and there that both Val and Alastor use the chains to remind those under contract that they are in charge with Angel Dust and Husker. The huge difference being that Val follows through with immediate punishment against our sweet tortured boy Angel and Alastor just threatens Husker with eternal torment where he will be tortured so terribly that he will scream for eternity.
To me the toxic relationship Angel and Val is bad, real bad ( I have been in that type twice in my life it’s em,physically and psychologically degrading) But, in the end would choose that because I could only imagine the twisted ways Alastor tortured the souls he owns..Hell within Hell within Hell.
So I guess I’m saying is that we need to keep Val for three reasons 1.) He is Angels mountain to climb to redeem who he was, to who he is, and who he truly can be. 2.) A visual reminder of who Alastor is and how Alastor changes as the show moves along. IF he ever does begin to redeem himself in anyway. 3.) A comparison to other Overlords who we are introduced to later.😂
Note: 4th He is part of the Vs and they need to be taken down but together, individually or they do it internally because they are the epitome of true evil that Hell truly has within its depths
So guess Viv and Joe together have done the near impossible thing written and brought to life a true villain we don’t hate we truly despise. Well Done🎉

The funny thing is, way later in some other season the Titans fight Dr. Light again and there's some scene where all the characters except Raven struggle with him for a bit and then Raven just shows up and asks if he remembers her, after which he immediately requests to be taken to jail. Man, that was a good show.

Alastors body language when he interacts with Lucifer is so underrated there are so many details about it. The single fact that he always swipes his hand when they touch somehow or how his eyes darted at him when he told her how proud of Charlie they are (like 'YO DAD THATS HOW YOU TELL YOUR DAUGHTER GO TRY IT) is so good.
I can't help but see charlie as a puppy from her side view. her black nose makes her seem like a golden retreiver puppy with her personality and her cuteness
Fun fact, Lucifer's voice actor is Jeremy Jordan who is a broadway performer :D he also voiced a character in the animated Tangled series named Varian, who had the best songs in that entire show as well

Lilith is the "true shitty" parent to begin with, but sure there is more to that.. and Alastor on a Leash? That has to be Lilith..or some one who is stronger then him... Or it is actually Lilith in disguise, which makes me truly nervous for plot of Season 2.
I don't think enough people talk about the choreography of the show. There is no way that you could have swelled the music both vocals and melody to match the reveal of that one image we all had any better. Of Lucifer expanding his wings beneath the circle of power. Just a beautiful performance.

I think people forget that Charlie is half-angel. Now whether she counts more as a Nephilim or a Lilim is a big question to be answered. But either way, I think she's a lot stronger and more dangerous to Sinners than anyone thinks. She's just too nice to actually use the power she has
Hmmm, Nephilim are created between Angels and Humans, and Lilith used to be human. But by the time Charlie was born she was definitely a demon. So, it would be between demon and angel. I think.
I love that Vivzie went and made Lucifer an actual good father, and that it was Lilith who took Charlie away and the disconnect after that which lead to a strained relationship

I actually felt a little bad for Alastor when he turned Mimzy away. He really did act warm towards her earlier, with open arms. Realizing she didn’t come visit him to see how he’s been after disappearing for 7 years but instead to use their friendship and him as her personal shield seemed to have hurt him more than he let on. At least he still has a friend in Rosie tho.

Sinners bodies regenerate like Deadpool, if you rip one into a puddle like Val does in episode two it will take them awhile to piece themselves back together, but in the event they can’t reach their missing pieces , they will regrow the limb which takes alonger time , angelic weapons tho disable their healing factor
This was definitely an interesting episode. Not only we got to see lucifer for the first time, but we also got some answers on Alastor's past, especially the bombshell Husker dropped on Alastor on him also on a leash(a deal). I wont spoil the next episode, but it'll definitely be a must watch episode because it'll answer more questions that will be so eye-opening to us.

I have a theory...
Alastor made a deal with Lilith to help and protect Charlie and her dreams. That's why alastor is so faithful to Charlie, and explains the leash comment by Husk; Does he know it's with Lilith? Maybe, maybe not. Does he know that Lilith is Charlie's mom? Again maybe, maybe not.
My other theory was that Lilith's deal with Alastor was to assassinate Lucifer, but that theory doesn't hold much weight.
I couldn’t imagine Alastor holding the power to be able to do that is the only reason I think that theory wouldn’t work 😅

I remember the episode of Teen Titans where we first see Raven's internal struggle with her father, Trigon, when Raven first succumbs to Trigon's influence and pulls Dr. Light (the villain who uses light as his weapon). The scene where Alastor puts Husk in his place for standing up to him IS very reminiscent of that moment.

I like how Lucifer is one of the only characters that manages to push Alastor to the edge and make him lose his composure. Usually when Alastor is mad or annoyed he either makes a snarky comeback, makes a threat, or just brushes it off. But in this case, he was so annoyed and frustrated that he couldn't come up with a comeback, and threatening the Kind of Hell is extremely stupid, so he just said "Fvck you" 😂😂

Husk saying Alastor is one a leash as well...him and Lilith being gone for 7 years and Alastor just happening to show up at the perfect time for Charlie........I'm thinkin Lilith owns his ass and sent him to help her daughter. In the pilot Charlie calls her mom and mere moments later Alastor knocks on her doors, Lilith probably sent him to check on things and her daughter (the reason he was already "in the neighborhood" sorta speak when he saw her on the news) and then once she got the voicemail immediately ordered her scary little pet to go do whatever she asks of him.
Perhaps he struck a deal with her when he first arrived in Hell and that's why he was an instant powerhouse able to rival all other Overlords. Perhaps she's working on something and forced him along for the ride similar to how he's dragged Husker into being the bartender.

Charlie is canonically 200 years old, but definitely had an 'angsty teen' phase; you can see that in the photos on Lucifer's wall. One of them is Goth Charlie, and it's oddly adorable, especially considering what she was like as a child as well as currently. I think you nailed it, that it was that phase that really led to their separation; both of them have been waiting all this time for the other to reach out, both afraid to make the first move; the song even pretty much states this explicitly.

19:43 I absolutely love the sound design when Alastor goes Wendigo mode (that’s what I’m personally dubbing his demon mode as). When his antlers come out, there’s white noise and static accompanied by these shrill deer whines or screeches. There’s also a trumpet or some brass instrument that one could associate with a broadcast of the Kentucky Derby, sorta like the “Call to Post” fanfare. All those elements together, along with the terrifying, unmoving facial expressions where his mouth eventually doesn’t even open and close while he talks, it’s so unsettling, and I love it for his character.
Because, for as much mystery surrounds him, the people who dare to challenge it and unravel that mystery are confronted with risking their own annihilation and unleashing THAT form and those terrifying sounds. It’s like a burglar being scared and discouraged by a loud security system; an unexpected alarm may scare them shitless and usually results in a flight or freeze response, very similar to Husker in that scenario. If you challenge the very mystery that is Alastor, then your final moments may be that cacophony of unsettling sounds and your own screams.
Fun Fact: This is the *ONLY* episode (so far) where Alastor curses!
