The 007 and the 009 have designs that could be much better. Most times the first check is the problem in a malfunctioning valve. I repaired many of these in the past and eventually told customers to call someone else. Removing the checks from both assemblies when they are a few years old is almost impossible and even more difficult to reinstall those same checks after changing the discs. On the 009 you have to disturb the relief valve for no reason at all just to get to the checks and even with new parts the assembly often would not function properly causing the entire assembly to be replaced, after buying all those parts to attempt a repair. Your sales of parts only comes with many parts bundled together that do not need to be replaced and drives the cost of bundled parts excessively high. I closed my business and am retired now but I still cringe when I see this valve. Sorry abut the negative review but this assembly deserves it.

I'm currently battling a 009 at the moment. Hard to make any progress, wondering if I should just swap out the entire assembly. Parts are expensive and still not working right..

@@shauncollins678 replace it with a 919 watts rpz. All parts are seperate from one another and much easier to fix

The LF007M1QT installed in my home failed a backflow test recently. The plumber said the whole entire assembly should be replaced, but I don't see why it couldn't just be repaired with the kit RK007 as it seemed that part was the crux of the issue. Do you have any thoughts on utilizing the repair kit (the cheaper option) or placing the entire assembly?

@@briankehoe7549 There is a reason the plumber said to replace the entire assembly. Most of the time the new parts will not come out of the assembly and once you do the new ones will not f=go back in and even then it often still fades. I would replace the Watts with a Wilkins and you will never have that problem again.

Thanks for the reply. A couple of other plumbers said they should be able to repair it. The difference in cost between a repair and replacement is $1k, but I don’t want to pay to repair it only to have it fail again. If you have a couple of minutes to talk about this issue, then maybe you can help me with decision since it sounds like you have firsthand experience with this issue. No problem if you can’t though considering the forum. I do appreciate the response though.

Terrible video quality, too much information about the design (IMHO) but it is a useful guide to all the pieces involved, and did help me fix my 009 by showing that the upper o-ring on the relief valve goes around the stem, not against the end. Thank you for sharing this.

@@AmericanBackflowProducts please don't remove these old ones when you've put up the new ones. It's awesome to see some of the old film of manufacturing of parts, and helps folks like me who deal with these.
I DO ALSO appreciate the new repair videos. I use them all the time.
