You are 100% correct. My other pet peeve is the pronunciation of "Fek'lhri." I distinctly remember Worf pronouncing it as "feck-larry" in the show. I'm quite certain that it's supposed to be a lowercase "L" rather than an uppercase "i." But I guess it's too late now that Cryptic has been misspelling it for a decade....
It's an upper-case 'i' in the script, and Worf definitely pronounces it that way in DS9 4x09. You might be remembering the Fek'lhr, (lowercase 'L') from TNG 4x13. It's easy to confuse them, especially since STO decided to use the Fek'lhr, (lowercase 'L') as the model for the Fek'Ihri (uppercase 'i') in-game.

I've always been pronouncing it "low-buy" and when you think about it from the ferengi's perspective its kind of a pun.
Ferengi Like Buying things, if they want to make something cheaper, they could use a "Low-Buy" crystal.
It's kinda funny that I always pronounced lobi as low-buy and never knew why.

Funny how I would hear you pronounce it “Low-Buy” but then for some weird reason (probably due to the way it is spelled) I would say it as “Low-Be” because of the i at the end of Lobi.

This is also the case with other games I had to choose how to pronounce words, such as in Dragon Warrior1 / Dragon Quest 1 town names, as there was no in game audio for reference.

I always pronounced it lobee, but I never hated on anyone saying lobuy. I mean, who cares, really? I got better things to worry about.
I don't care that people are pronouncing it different, it's the fact that people have been telling me I'm pronouncing it wrong that I have an issue with.
But, what if Quark misspronounced it too? He's an American actor at the end of the day.
And English speaking people often butcher letters as they use same letters with different pronounciation.

At the end of the day people can believe whatever they want. The only person who has any authority to say how it should be pronounced is the original author who came up with the word and nobody has to listen to them either.

Yes and no,the pronunciation of words depend of your native language,in the example of Quark he is talking in english so the pronunciation is in english,for another language it can sound different,main rule of languages is pronouncing the words and letters as you know them in your native language.
Well, I can't argue against that, so I guess this is mainly targeted to the other English speakers who have been giving me crap about this.

Actually... Quark is speaking Ferengi. What you're hearing is the Universal Translator repeating the Ferengi word lobay into Federation Standard, aka English. So while you'll hear non-English speakers read the English equivalent lobi as lo-bee, that's only because they've read it from English first, and not from the original Ferengi.
