I find it funny that a ton of beginning crochet people are thrilled with this video and saying how easy it is to follow and it turned out great while the experiences ones are full of critiques and saying it was hard to follow...I'm a beginner, I did fine. There were a couple spots I had rewind cause I was unsure 9f some things but I hardly blame the instruction, and really how can people complain about a free tutorial? I am glad I got to do it! It was great!
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with giving constructive criticism to a creator so long as it's polite. Generally, people who put up tutorials /want/ them to be easy to follow and /want/ to know if people are struggling with something. It helps make tutorials better, which is, again, typically what people who make tutorials /want/. For example, the camera could be zoomed out a bit more in the segments where she's actively crocheting for better visibility. It might not be relevant for everyone, but people with hearing difficulties would probably benefit from the better framing, especially if the auto-generated subtitles don't play nicely with the creator's accent. I watch crochet content in other languages and mostly follow by sight, and the framing of the shot really does make a difference. I get that you mean well, but people really need to understand that *polite*, constructive criticism is valuable, particularly when it comes to meeting the needs of those who are differently-abled. Whether or not it's free isn't really relevant since the point is honing skills or developing new skills.
This was VERY difficult to follow. Since hands and fingers cover as you work it would be helpful if it were laid down between each step and gone over. You did this for parts of it. I loved this beautiful pattern! Thank you for sharing.
This was awesome! I loved that is was a short video, I watched it all the way thru and took notes as you demonstrated the square, then crocheted with you as I watched it the 2nd time. My boho square turned out beautifully. 😍 Some of the other comments 🙄 oh boy. Every video I watch you have to pause and crochet to the spot where you need to be. And I really didn't think this was confusing at all and I'm definitely a beginner! Thanks again Jolie!
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern. I love everything Boho!!! I am going to use this to make a blanket now. Had a different idea but this has changed my whole plan happily 💜💜❤️❤️
Thank you for this tutorial, you showed every stitch & then reiterated each step... New Subscriber from New Zealand 💯✅ I have been looking for an easy fancy square for ages and can't wait to make a heap of this one 😍😍
I bought the written pattern and watched tutorial and I found that, especially in the beginning, there are a couple of different stitches. Will definitely have to watch as I read as well. Thank you for this gorgeous pattern.
I am an intermediate crochet artist, maybe an expert with some types of crochet and I had some problem with parts of this. The instructor is not showing her work all of the time. It is hidden by her hands and/or fingers. Verbal instructions are haphazard and rushed during some portions. I can figure it out by looking at the finished square but anyone who is not intermediate to expert MIGHT have a problem comprehending it. I recommend redoing this video, slowing down, and clearly enunciating instructions, one step at a time. It is a pretty pattern, with a unique motif and really worth a more careful tutorial, especially since the pattern is not free when you follow that link. Beginners are going to need a bit more than what is here and they will really enjoy it if you give them a bit more to work with. Lovely pattern, and worth another pass at a video.
I am not a beginner channel, yes i agree it’s not the best, as it was literally one of my first videos ever, but the written pattern is literally $0.99. I do not need a perfect free video that accompanies a $1 pattern.
I had to stop round 5 to keep the size consistent with my project but I wanted to say thank you! This was my first try taking on this type of square and it’s so beautiful and adds a nice touch of interest to an otherwise plain granny square throw.
The oops frustrating to me too. Love the fact you were willing to teach, maybe slow down a bit and try off camera first. I hate granny squares but this one was pretty thinking about trying. Good job.
Just tried this square. It’s a beautiful motif. I wish I could do this but mine came out too wonky and I know I have everything down to the stitch count.
Super jittery and sooooooo many oops. It was hard to watch, set off my anxiety. Slow down a little and adjust your tension. Looked pretty but couldn't watch.
@@Djkenna1d okay cool thank you! , I’m trying to make it small for this crop top I’m making for a friend. Any other suggestions? I’m really hoping to figure it out
@@AC-li2pj How small do you want the square to be after you finished it? following the video mine is about 5 1/2 inches when it's done . You could also stop at row 5 and just not do rows 6 and 7 (you'd still have the star just not the same border for the square) if you did it that way you'd cut off about an inch and a half.
Love this square. Save your dollar on the written directions, very confusing. I have to listen to her say it on here vs. trying to read her directions.
Very hard to follow can't really see what you're doing. I'm not a beginner, I think you just went to fast with your hand. Verbal instructions were fine. Maybe a different camera angle? Beautiful though
I loved all the patterns on your videos, I was SO disappointed in this tutorial! Fingers in way, spoken too quickly, mistakes, flow was horrible. Couldn't see well where your stitches were going.... and as much as I would like to try your other projects, This video turned me off trying any others. Maybe redo this tutorial all over again if this isn't your best.
I actually DO send donations to video tutorials I like. It was suggestions. Bella Coco, Fiber Spiders tutorial for example. If this is your best video, then "whoops" again disappointed i won't be watching any other of the beautiful projects you had listed. But your work is beautiful.
Oh my... This is an awful explanation. It's very hard to follow. Crochet is to relax but this just made me so irritated I had to literally rewind the video five different times.. just nevermind I'm going to pick a different pattern... Good God

I thought it was great. Thank you for taking time to share it.
Agree!

Lovely pattern! Very well explained, not a beginner pattern but being an advanced crocheter, this worked up easily for me. Thank you for the video 💜
I’m a beginner and I got this lol
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern. I love everything Boho!!! I am going to use this to make a blanket now. Had a different idea but this has changed my whole plan happily 💜💜❤️❤️
I have a shawl with it 😊 i think i called it a poncho wrap
Never done anything like this before 🤩 it's fabulous! Just what I needed for a skinny curtain pattern 👏
How is your curtain looking?
@@dollhousedelight8553 oh it looks just great thanks! I used a. Sunny yellow egg yolk kinda colour!

it's a blanket lol darn thing is huge. anyway, it's going to be the center of my baby blanket. thank you for all that work you shared with us.
Lovvvvvvvvve how beautiful yet EASY this is!!!! Thank you!

Thanks. This was the granny that I was looking for.
My square came out great! Thanks for sharing ❤
Ur tutorial is one of the better here on yt. Thanks
I wish I could send you a photo. I learned to do my first square with this video. I have then been making a beautiful blanket with it.
Nice pattern! It's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
im so glad!

Thank you so much. You were so easy to follow. I’m making a poncho and this is going into the middle of my squares. All the best from Down Under.
I was thinking of using this for a poncho also! How did yours turn out?
@sunshinehippie0019 i have a tutorial for it in a poncho, open. I do need to update both videos 😳
Vielen Dank für dieses Muster. Überlege es für ein Pullover zu benutzen ❤
Love this! Great tutorial!

Really nice tutorial. The squareblooked complex but you explained it really well. Thank you 😘
Glad it was helpful!
thank you for posting this tutorial! i love this pattern so much
Thank you for this beautiful pattern, it took a couple tries and a lot of rewinding and pausing but so worth it!
En francais s v p merci
Thank you for the pattern

As a beginner to crocheting I thought this would be harder but since I’ve been trying to practice different stitches this wasn’t too bad.
I love your. Tutorial. Thank you for sharing your gift 🙏
Great pattern! Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you for the beautiful pattern!
Very cool square ☺️
Thank u ❤and this was so easy to follow👌🏾
Thank you 🌺🤗
Crystal- I never saw this! Where were you hiding it?. Just lovely. Still miss your tutorials. Hope you and your family are ok.
Love it
your amazing thanks for this vedio

Thank u...
Você explica muito bem ❤
Very nice thanks so much
Beautiful
Fantastic thanks
This square is beautiful! About how big does it measure when done?
Did you figure it out?
Followed this easily just one question how do you end row 7? do you just slip stitch to the first sc and then fasten off?
I have no idea why but my middle "star" came out a square. Will have to go back to c what i did wrong lol
Do u have a video to join them?
Tried it last night with the video, and ended up with a beautiful mistake. The pattern is only .99 so I got it tonight so I can perfect it.
Could you show how you could add another color. Example flower one color then the other 3 different color
Can we have another tutorial on this? One easier to follow along? I really love this pattern, I’m new to crochet. But have the basics down.
I have been wanting to re-do this. I apologize for the quality, it was one of my first videos.
I was super excited about pattern but the pattern goes on and off screen and the words are muffled. I was 😞.
Super jittery and sooooooo many oops. It was hard to watch, set off my anxiety. Slow down a little and adjust your tension. Looked pretty but couldn't watch.
Yeah, sorry, one of my first videos ever. I’ve gotten better. Thanks for your input
By any chance, do you have pet tarantulas? You sound just like a somebody that I used to know. 😊
No, i don’t. 😂
Is there a way to figure out how to make this smaller in size?
I'm no professional lol but I think you can replace some double crochet's for single to make it smaller or use a smaller hook/yarn weight

I found this hard to follow. Would help if it was slower and also more visible. Sorry for this feedback but that was my experience.
Very hard to follow can't really see what you're doing. I'm not a beginner, I think you just went to fast with your hand. Verbal instructions were fine. Maybe a different camera angle? Beautiful though
U went way to fast for us beginners
So sorry Britt, I'm not a beginner channel, but if it's helpful, you can slow the video down in your settings.
I'm not even a beginner and it was hard for me!
I find it confusing when reading the comments that the youtuber addresses the critical comments but not the ones with real concerns or questions
Thé square doesn’t look very square.
love this pattern, but your hands are in the way in some off the instructions please take note
