Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time CZcamsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. Ugh...I wish they would! Someone told me earlier today that I should tattoo the lower brow to make it look higher to match the other one. I told her that wouldn't work because when my face is relaxed my brows are actually even. That right one just lifts up when I talk and move my face for some reason. Ugh...people are so annoying!

Updates!
*The Milani eyeshadow held up pretty well! 8 hours later there's a little bit of fading but not nearly as much as there was with the last formula. It's not quite as amazing as their original eyeshadows (like the Soft & Sultry palette) but it's close and a MAJOR improvement!
*The L'oreal foundation held up great...it's still going strong! This is basically what I wish their serum foundation had done for me (but that one was so drying and contained alcohol). This formula is so thin and almost watery like that one, but much better for dry skin!
@Jen Phelps I bought that Rose pallet to wear with a rose gold sequin top to a swing dance! Yes, the lighter pinks were a bit light, but the 2 last colors were great! I spray a lot of setting spray as I go with my make up applications- lasts for 4 hrs with strenuous dancing😂🎉
@@kcloveonaleash I use a lot of Mac Fix plus & setting spray too. Maybe I'm addicted, but my makeup needs effort to come off. Lol. I hope your dancing was a blast.

I didn’t like the L’Oréal serum foundation on its own either! I do use it to color correct my foundations that pull too orange or too light on me.

If anyone else is reading this, Jen is dead right about that Milani mascara being a dupe for the Thrive. I have been using Thrive for years and have used the Milani for 3 days in a row. It is exactly the same (minus the philanthropy and made in the USA part). Jen, I JUST got my Moira ombré blush (peach) and the green/bronze book style eyeshadow palette that you talked about in your video a couple of days ago. The shimmers are very good but the mattes are REALLY AMAZING. Perfect timing for my dark green Christmas cardigan tomorrow and Sunday. I’m going to be getting nearly every color of their ombré blushes next year. I have no women in my life who love make up like I do, so I really appreciate your recommendations because I know that I can rely on them to be honest. Greatly appreciated, Jen. Merry Christmas!

The Loreal foundation is a new formula, there's a few added ingredients and some that were removed. I love that they chose to add a pump as well. I really like it and the new Revlon Illuminance foundation and Nyx Blur Tint are amazing as well! All the new products are sooo good!

The Milani Old Fashioned one is very tempting, so is that L’Oréal foundation. It looks great on you in spite of the shade being a bit dark.

There's nothing wrong with your brows. They suit your face perfectly. Not everyone suits thick brows, and some people just follow trends and think everyone else should too. Ridiculous. I love the look of the cover girl glosses., they look like serums. 🎄✨

I keep C3, C4 and 5 on hand (depends on the season). I use them to mix into other foundations when I need some cool tone. I hate pouring it out! I have to keep an eye out for it!
I was eyeing the new all matte neutrals from Milani, hoping to replace the function my UD Naked Basics 2 in my collection. Hopefully the formula is good!

I buy every Gilded 15-pan palette they release. I do understand your love for the older formula. Pure Passion is truly something special! I enjoy the Milani Nude and Gold palettes probably the most of all of them (after Pure Passion)! Glad to hear you found such a great dupe for the Thrive mascara, I will definitely be trying Milani’s version! 😀
I also love that people are rediscovering the old skool drugstore products that were great but got left in the past because of the constant stream of new products and people are loving the Revlon L'Oreal Maybelline maxfactor again they have been around this long for good reason guys they are so good maxfactor lasting performance foundation is amazing too Moira face powders are supposed to be dupes for the Givenchy powders too so affordable the ones in the square tub that has pink green blue purple different correction colours as well as skin colour powder in them also the just one colour powders too
I personally have a thing about brows (I'm aware of it and I know it's a me problem), but I always keep my opinions to myself! And honestly, yours do not trigger me at all. I constantly have to remind myself that my brows are sisters, not twins. Jen, you're beautiful and we totally appreciate all the work you do for us!

I used and loved the original True Match when it was first launched. The packaging was definitely the biggest negative. Not that it has a pump I’m going to try it again.
Hey Jen ! I read that they did reformulate that foundation when they added the pump they put better skincare ingredients !! So maybe thats why it felt so nice it looks great on you !!

Hey, Jen! I used L'Oreal True Match foundation for my wedding in 1998. I had strayed away from it over the years as new things were released. But I noticed a few years ago that most foundations really weren't looking great on my 40-something skin. I tried the True Match again out of curiosity after seeing Angie Hot & Flashy list as one of her favorites and it has been my holy grail ever since. I am fair skinned with cool undertones (much like you) and I use the shade n0.5. I find the cool shades are too orange for me and the neutrals work well. I'm glad to see they finally put a pump on it! I've been using a pump I bought on Amazon 😆
I totally agree with you on the foundation...I've been using it for several days and I'm in love with it...I picked N4 as the shade but it's just a little off...I need to go to a store and see them in person. I do think it's a new formulation from the original..."The new True Match Foundation formula is now infused with 80% moisturizing care and Hyaluronic Acid to improve skin quality in just 2 weeks. A color pallet that I love is from color pop. It’s amazing and stays on all day! Color pop has terrific eye shadows.

We had one of those storms that you hear so much that’s scary. We have a tree that when we planted it, it seemed really far from the house. But now that it’s huge, it’s scary, lost a limb out of it. We heard it break and hit the house! I was afraid we’d have a hole in the roof, luckily it only bent the rave troughs a bit! It must have felt good to have an extra day off! I was the mom that was always excited for snow days! Really pretty makeup look!

I also have dry skin - very dry, especially in the winter. So I don't use powder much. In the winter, I dust a little on my nose with a brush because the skin on my nose is less dry and I just like to cut the shine a little. In the summer, I may do a light application all over my face, again with a brush.
My experience has been that some powders have a "moister" formula than others and are better on dry skin. i think this is also the case with powder eye shadows.
When I use up the powder I have, I think I'll try the Milani product since it worked well on your skin. Also, I've never tried this True Match foundation because I thought it was for oily skin. However, since it's working well for you, I think I'll also try it when I use up another foundation I have!
I woke up at 3 too with the wind storm. Starting saying my Hail Mary’s so we wouldn’t lose power as I was worried about frozen pipes later in the day. Your brows are great! Thanks for the foundation review. I never bought that one because of that bottle. Have a wonderful and blessed holiday. No snow but we got the sub-zero temps!

We just had a week of -40C temps in northern Canada, and were warned that the power grid was getting close to periodic shut downs but it turned out OK. Hope you stay safe and have a very Merry Christmas 🎄
Oh no! I visited Canada in the winter once and it was -23F. I remember feeling like I couldn't breathe and every time I did, I would cough. Also my car had a hard time starting!
I've had pretty good luck with drugstore lip products (glosses & tinted balms), powders, blushes, concealers & mascaras. I think it's silly to pay 20+ dollars for mascara or clear lipgloss or a basic brow/lip pencil. My eyes are super, super sensitive & unfortunately I've never found a drugstore eyeliner pencil that didn't burn/irritate my eyes. Even the UD pencils made my eyes burn, so I only purchase 2-3 brands that I know my eyes can tolerate & they aren't inexpensive. (I don't even know if Marc Jacobs is available anymore~sigh~) I've had good luck with drugstore foundations but every time I find a fave, it gets discontinued which is very frustrating. The Loreal Lumi cushion was my go-to daily foundation (high end J or K cushions have too much fragrance) but it was discontinued. Of course. But for eyeshadow I've never found anything drugstore/affordable that I liked better than the indie brands. The longevity & formulas/textures is just better in indie brands for eyeshadow for me.

I actually had 2 shades of that foundation but I had to throw it away as it was getting very old. I always loved the way it looked and wore on me. I have no idea why I did not repurchase. So, I am going to buy it again. And now that is has a pump, I am excited!
Jen, I usually am the same shade in foundations with you , and I got N2 in this L’Oréal foundation and it’s the best spot on match I’ve ever had. I am also combination oily skin and this foundation work so beautifully on me.

Wow that's cold for Florida! At some point when my husband retires we will buy a home there and at least go part time and live there in the winter. That's the plan anyway!
The lift and snatch brow pen is great for people who want the fluffy brow look but are not great at doing their brows I'm in that camp you can get a similar pen from sheglam shiens makeup line you get the brow pen in one end and a micro thin pencil on the other end I think it's £4 or £3.50 and you get the best of both a fine pencil and a pen in the same shade and they have good colours too not super red or orange based they have warm colours too auburn ect.. but they have great blonde taupe and cool toned brown shades too

I’ve already bought 2 more for backups because I’m terrified it’s going to be extremely hard to get as soon as ppl discover how freaking AMAZING it is!!!!! Absolutely my new #1 mascara! I just received my Milani tubing mascara, and the new Loreal Telescopic mascara that I will try this weekend. I was waiting for more reviews for the new Milani eye palettes, because of the formula, I also loved their old formula (soft & sultry) and the ones they released after wasn't great. Glad to see they changed the formula and that you liked it, so thanks for letting me know your thoughts, will have to try these.

Milani prep set glow powder is my answer for anyone who feels like setting their under eyes makes them look crinkly. I really love that powder, I've gone through so many. You can use it as an all over powder for a luminous light look too but it won't hold back oil at all in my experience. I think milani face products always win for me
