I did not grow up with both my parents (they had me and split up, never got married, married different people and had kids) so I do not have a nuclear family. I have a relationship with both my parents and we are on talking terms but there was a period I was not speaking to my father. I spent a lot of my life feeling ashamed of my life because I thought everyone had it great. I do not look forward to the holiday season cause I feel lost anytime this time of the year comes around so I can really relate to this video. For some reason I feel quite lonely cause I am yet again reminded that I do not have that perfect family you see people show on social media and I don't really have a "home" I go to to feel like I am really home. I can't put it into words. There is a lady called Natalie Lue who has a podcast (the podcast ended this year but the episodes are still online) called "Baggage Reclaim" and she calls the period between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day "The 12 Weeks of Self-Esteem Torment" which perfectly describes how this season can feel for some people.
