Heya everyone this is Dion Koster from Team Reptile, game director of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. I hope you are all doing well, I wanted to add a supplement to the new teaser we dropped. First off a shout out to Bx'treme who made the track AGUA we used. I got to admit I didn't know where the samples were from but it sure sounded dope. Google 'Agua' for a quick surprise.
As you know BRC is a game about the street. Wherever you are from, chances are you grew up going out to the local skatepark, scratching your name on the bins at school or hanging out at the mall, dancing, before heading back home to do some extreme tricks in your favorite video game. Maybe it got you to the point that you are now hitting up the big spots in your own way! Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a big street culture symphony of these feelings. In that spirit I have decided to include skateboarding, BMX and inline skating in the game.
With this teaser we are giving you a heads up, the way that you move around is important. Style is not only about appearance. Many secrets can be found by getting points and doing combos throughout the stage. You will be outstyling the other crews after you bombed their turf to take what's theirs. Skateboarding, inline and BMX are represented with real life tricks to play into this. After going off you'll be able to switch back to regular ol' feet anytime you want to get down to the beat.
This year, we are going in hard to finish the game. Thank you for your patience! As always, no weak shit.

@@ians_parks oh yeah, you're right. i think they should accentuate the lights more, make the scenary darker and put some warm filters to give the right mood
but hopefully not as bad as the dragon roller coaster area from jsrf.

I never imagined being able to use anything but rollerblades, the variety is exciting!
The original trailers seemed to imply the default would be freerunning. None of the characters had rollerblades (probably to get around any legal issues for likeness to JSRF)
But with the inclusion of skateboards and bikes the argument is thrown out

For everyone saying, "this sure looks like Jet Set Radio?" You are 100% correct, since this is a spiritual successor to Jet Grind Radio/Jet Set Radio/Jet Set Radio Future since Sega, or *WHOEVER* owns the IP of Jet Set Radio, has failed to do anything with it over the last 19 years. So Team Reptile stood up, rolled their sleeves up, cracked their knuckles and said "If Sega won't make a new Jet Set Radio, then we'll do it ourselves!" To say I'm *MAD HYPE* for this game would be an understatement!

Now THIS is how you handle a proper spiritual successor, a ton of games who advertise themselves as such often end up missing what made the OG good. This feels like they know what they're doing
not just trying to make the fundamentals good, but also building up from the foundation and making something new along the way
I think the source of this game's power is the director's (Dion) roots in the very culture that the sports thrived in.
I'd argue that Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is more faithful to the culture that inspired Jet Set Radio than Jet Set Radio itself.

As much as I love our funky uncle, I'm also glad they have a variety like the original so you don't get tired of anything while you're playing. ( only guitar vader playing in your mind 24/7 after hearing it once )

I realized how much they've changed from the teasers to the actual games now, just shows the love and care the developers had for this game
I love how it doesn't have to revole around just role blades, but bikes and skateboards too. I also love how some parts of area remind me Shibuya and Dogenzaka Hill.

Yeah they should add like a scooter, soap shoes (they probably our already wearing soap shoes?) and some other type of outdoor wheels or blades would be a good concept for the game.
Now if I see a hoverboard with the two wheels I would be sad, because those hoverboards do not grind they mostly roll on the ground like a steamroller but if they make a way to make a hoverboard less wack then I would be fine with the idea.
The last area is totally gg's hangout inspired! I'm so excited

I believe in Indie Game Dev Supremacy! They actually listen to the community, they don't force NFTs down our throats no matter how much we say we don't want em and they actually care about their product. I'm actually looking forward to this one.
Just a reminder, though an unrelated one, that while limited run games celebrated the 30th anniversary of Castlevania with a disc based re-release of symphony of the night, all Konami gave us was Castlevania nfts.

absolutely, we've already seen so many examples of rushed games due to hype that kills the entire development of the game, and we've been waiting long enough that an extra year isn't much

As a hip hop dancer, I want to thank team reptile for taking Bx'treme's track Agua, hes a Legend in the scene and hearing his song in a videogame is just amazing!

THIS LOOKS SO GOOD! It feels like a mix of Jet Set Radio and Tony Hawk in the coolest way imaginable. Also love the track in the trailer! I'm getting SO hyped for this game!

Team Reptile has singlehandedly captured the feel of Jet Set Radio in such a way that the game feels like a true successor to the series. I am super hyped for this.
Every trailer just keeps getting better and better. This is easily one of my most anticipated games of this year.
40 seconds and I am literally a scorched corpse. Y'all didn't have to show up with heat like this. The gameplay looks tight (and you are clearly evolving the best bits while retaining the spirit) and the score (hope its in the final game because PURR)

This literally feels like you guys fused together Tony Hawk, BMX and Jet Set Radio together ... please, whatever everyone else may say, take your time with the game, iron out the bugs and glitches it may have, and deliver the best possible product ... we've already had too many games that tried to be spiritual succesors to other titles that ended up failing due to rushing the game out asap ....

As someone who never got the opportunity to play jet set radio, I always had a wild itch for games like this. Style around with crazy stylized art.
Tony hawk pulled me in and I remember living every minute I played of those games.
But with this game coming out, I’m waiting with my breath held to fly around with some wild moves and discover every nook and cranny.
As someone who grew up with JSRF specifically, man that game being locked to OG Xbox mainly due to music license hell sucks because it's my favorite of the duology. (some tracks were done by at least one member of the Beastie Boys under a different name & their specific label going under makes figuring out who owns the rights to those songs HELL)
This looks amazing, map layout is so dynamic and animations are chef’s kiss

How dare you, Team Reptile. Such a joyous, coordinated audio-visual festival of pure badassery, showcasing what looks to be some tight-as-bolts movement and mechanics? How uncouth of you! Such levels of hype could cause heart attacks in some of us more sensitive souls!
This is a ransom in my case, I feel like the game is a metaphorical gun being held to my head by some dude or (preferably) dudette in black clothing, but in this case I also have stockhold syndrome.

Rollerblades, skateboards AND BMX Bikes?! HOLY SHEIT, not only are you guys making this a successor to JSR, but a nice nod to Neversoft Extreme Sports games, too.
Yeah, they're pulling out all of the stops. And because the views of their other teasers after the second has such a significant decrease, those who don't pay attention would consider this a "Shadow drop" but that's only if a Nintendo Indie Showcase doesn't also announce it.

This game has been on my radar since the first teaser. I cannot wait to play this.
First off, this beat is nuts. Second, this my game of the year. I been waiting so long for some kind of Jet Set Radio spiritial successor. This looking like the one
yeah, the beat is crazy, it's got that 90's breakbeat vibes with the vocals and the phrase repeats, but mixed with some modern LA style beats. in hindsight such an amazing mix of styles. i wonder if this one was also produced by hideki naganuma.
I can't wait for this game's release. Day one purchase, without a doubt.

See I can go on a tangent about how this took the formula and did what others couldn't do. Team reptile love their games and their work and you can see that with the attention to detail and consistency with the move styles. Having different means of going about gives variety to those who play and their own unique style allowing room for a ton of creativity. Hope to see multiplayer or anything else honestly. Keep up the good work Team Reptile.

I remember when I discovered JSR in 2013, I wondered what would happen if they used BMX bikes and instantly thought it would be stupid but Team Reptile proved me wrong!
this gives me Tony Hawk Pro Skater vibes in regards to the trick selection and that's a good thing. the lines in this game were already going to be insane with the JSR influence, but having the ability to string tricks together? hoo boy is the style going to be through the ROOF.
I don't think I've ever been more hyped for a game to come out......probably cause its been so long since JSRF, and the attempts at successors just weren't able to capture the same spirit......This one though? It is everything a fan of JSR could ever want. Just after playing tons of Lethal League it's abundantly clear Team Reptile knows wtf they're doing, and doesn't just try to emulate JSR's aesthetic but builds upon it in a way that makes it truly look like the successor we've been waiting 20 years for.
This game definitely understands the concept of love.
This game also shows the gift of thought.

I love the option I'm probably gonna go with the inline skates to have that Jet Set Radio future feel I missed out for not having an OG Xbox. Man this is gonna be a great game can't wait to play it.

This game is everything I need in this world. With the gaming industry rehashing shit for "modern audiences" and giving us money generating machines, game like this, made by gamers for gamers without relying on visual spectacles is our saving grace. I am so damned excited for this, words cant explain
Honestly you should try out sunset overdrive. Has very similar movement, and the comedy hits hard. It’s basically jet set radio if you were in an apocalypse and had weapons to kill mutants with.

sad some moves here didn't make the cut, like the Skate's flatside flying fish and the skateboard's mctwist
there is a mod that puts some of the beta moves in the game, but not all of them are in the game's files, as some aren't there (or at least thats what I think)

This is a highly ambitious title, please delay it as much as you can so you can turn it into a cult classic smash hit.
It’s interesting to see some of the moves changed like that little back flip vinyl does toward the end not being in the final game
The biggest thing I'm interested in now is how the movement options differ, and if there's pros and cons to each, or if it's mainly personal preference
Considering that Team Reptile is developing it, I would assume each movement type would handle a bit differently.
