Lee Smith's Hall of Fame Induction Speech

Lee Smith (1980-87), the Cubs all-time saves leader, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown with the 2019 class. Watch his full induction speech, in which he speaks fondly of his time pitching for the Chicago Cubs and his love for Wrigley Field.

Lee was a wonderful pitcher. Harry Kalas (Phillies Announcer) always called him Lee Arthur Smith when he took the mound. When he took the mound, you felt confident he would get the job done.

As a teenager I watch Lee smith on TV and went outside to throw against the house. My mom didn't like that

Lee Smith was a fine player, but has no business in the HOF.
28 (r) WAR over 18 seasons just isn't good enough. Period.
