Would love to see the same done to the rest of the greater daemons especially the great daemon of Slaanesh
Well... thanks just an amazing suggestion!
@@ArtisOpus I'd love to see the wings done on a Lord of Change!!
I agree, would love to see this method on the rest of the pantheon!
ive just realised that this is like make up artists but for geeks, and without the sexual misconduct
HAAA, I will take that! Hilarious :)
Amazing work as always, it just shows how planning and understanding colours can turn what some see as a secondary painting technique into a tool for astonishing results!
Damn man, that is insane. paining myself again after 13 years and loving every second of it. you guys are a big inspiration to keep pushing and achieve some amazing results by practice!
Me: takes 3 hours to paint a Marine who ends up looking maybe okay-ish at best
Artis Opus: this
Honestly it takes me about the same! I know those feels, several of our recent space marine tutorials took about this amount of time for me to paint... kind of makes me wonder why I ever paint anything small! :D
It takes me a full week at 5-9 hours a day to finish a model and make it look ok-ish D:
Haha, same
@@marcmiddleton2277
Hahah ok i dont feel so bad now. I mean i edge highlight and glaze until my fingers bleed so maybe thats why but still lol. Oh also smoking weed and zoning out on youtube definitely adds time XD i always snap back out of it like "shit ok what was i just doing?? Pants? No.. Skin? Maybe? Fuck."
What brush do you use? what is the name of the brand?
Really striking result, loved the choice of colours
Cheers dude! They're firm favourites of ours :)
These brushes really impress me. This is one of the best paintschemes I've seen for this model, and it's using such easy techniques too
Just dropping a comment before going straight onto Part 2 to say looks fantastic, another excellent tutorial mate. It always surprises me how well fluorescent colours work when mixed into others, something I'd never considered myself!
I came from Kirioth's recommendation, strangely I never knew there was an Artis Opus channel before his vid. But I am happy to have found you guys, there seems to be plenty of great content here, I absolutely loved this tutorial(?) even tho I don't use or like using drybrushing a whole lot. This however is on a whole new level, great work ! Excited to watch more of your stuff !
What brush do you use? what is the name of the brand?
@@nicolasbrun9795I don't really stick to one brand, but Rosemary and Co brushes are excellent .
Awesome video again Byron!!
#1 starter friendly channel with techniques suitable for all standards
Amazing!
Fast fingers! :) Thanks for the support dude
@@ArtisOpus I support those who deserve it. Good quality products are hard to come by these days and so is good advice and you have both in spades so...
You’re awesome and your comments are much appreciated!
Phenomenal stuff, giving painters hope through patiently building up colours. More of this please!
Absolutely, dude, stay tuned!
That looks amazing! The best part is that you can still add details to stuff like the horns, eyes, guts and all that and make it look even more complex. Fantastic job
Thanks so much dude!
He looked damn awesome at just the white stage, too!
Cheers Abel, you could take it in any direction from there! It's a solid foundation from which you could do many different schemes!
Maaan getting that much done in that time is pretty awesome
Cheers dude, I was a little slower than I thought, but still came in under the 90mins without it being too tricky, camera really doesn't help! :D
I can't say the same for the details though, genuinely found it really stressy, ha!
Really enjoyed this Byron, it really looks like you’ve got more control than with an airbrush! Simply stunning work!
another stellar job! the power of the dry brush technique is almost magic.
This looks insanely good, the smooth blends are insane and it looks really easy. But I reckon it works mostly with these textures models. I wouldn't know how to go about a tiny stormcast trooper. Or anything with a smooth surface.
Thanks so much buddy! Did you check out our Stormcast Black Armour? czcams.com/video/J-SvnJj17b0/video.html
Artis Opus:
Me: Looks at Army Painter Regiment brush and gently weeps.
Just order a few makeup brushes.
Sure, AO are probably made better. But they're essentially makeup brushes.
To be honest mate, I started using the AO dampening pad with makeup brushes a few months ago. The dampening pad helps to keep moisture at just the right consistency. I then indulged myself to a set of the series D recently and haven’t looked back! You get so much more control and consistency with the AO brushes, they are DEFINITELY worth the investment! Just make sure you follow the cleaning instructions and they will last far longer than any makeup brush. Plus it means no more pretending the Primark makeup brushes are for my wife.... :D
@@KrisTomich No probably about it, the materials, construction and shape are all better suited to model painting than a make up brush, That's why they took so long to develop
@@Siege181 I fully intend to pick up the small D and dampening pad for my marines, and get other sizes as needed when I get some vehicles.
I have the master's brush cleaner and conditioner already for my army painter brushes, which has kept them in great nick. Is the Artis Opus cleaner any different?
Greig Pil to be honest I only use the AO cleaner for my series D’s as you leave the cleaner in overnight then “flick” it out gently next morning. If you are investing in any of the AO series Ds I’d recommend the AO cleaner just to make sure you keep it in optimum condition! Oh and I would SERIOUSLY advise getting at least the small texture pallet, really helps with the control of the paint of the brushes!
Just bought the artist's brushes, been following both you and kirioth for a while. Good to see such wholesome co-operation.
I really enjoyed this video, I’m looking forward to part 2 and seeing what you do to the model!
I would love to see this done on a nurgle marine
We'll definitely get to them at some point soon!
Thanks for the larger model video! Could I suggest the name “Covidius” for him in honour of when he was done! Ps. Definitely agree with the comment where he asked for the other 3 greater daemons in the future!
HAAAA, comment of the month dude, can you pop us a DM on twitter and we'll send you a set and a texture pallet? Very appropriate :)
He could have a Space Marine pal... 'Brother Covidius' :D
Seriously?? Thank you guys! Which twitter account? Assuming artisopusltd or a different one? Thank you again !
You need to turn on allow everyone to DM you on Twitter dude before I can do it :D
The contrast and effectiveness of the dry brush are amazing. Love a speed painting video with being a new father. Hobby time is so limited these days. Keep up the awesome work!
Wow that is amazing. You did an amazing job with the dry brushing techniques! Thanks for sharing! I will be trying these out!
That result is hard to argue with for 90minutes work, looks really impressive, for the weapons my first instinct would be to properly rust them all over, I'd probably just run a pencil round the edges of the blade for the metallic effect and coat the rest with a rust finish for guaranteed tetanus, but having seen the flesh, I don't know if that would mesh well with the rest of the model
I've never tried pencils in that way, it's popular in military modelling and can be used with great effect!
You'll get to see very soon where I went with things - check out our last community post, too, I don't think you'll be disappointed! :)
orange goes well with green. ergo, rusty blade would offset and complement the body nicely.
He's so handsome!
The presenter, and his blessed compadre.
😘 :)
Simply beautiful. It was great to watch the paint scheme come to live stage by stage seeing those different colours getting applied and watching the model change entirely in a just a few minutes.
Thank you very much!
Such a lovely paint job on a great model. I appreciate the dry brushing tutorials as they really do show how dry brushing can be utilized to make almost any project look amazing in the model painting hobby.
Thanks! That's exactly what we're going for dude, it's just all about the process :)
can you paint something like ice blue, light blue with that method? love the series
Absolutely dude, using the same start too, Blue, purple - just don't go green, and instead then transition through icy blue colours!
i never liked this model cause of all its horrible fat rolls and cuts but after seeing you paint i wanna get it XD , amazing job tho ,i never really though about using different colours for shading its always been black or dark whatever never oh ill go down from green to blue its cool and gives a great effect , well i mean i did with your other paint schemes the devil fish and imperial fist were the main eye openers and this just makes me rethink all and future paint scheme endeavours
Oh man, kind words!
If there's a big takeaway from my recent years of not painting as much, but thinking about painting more it's than there's actually no rules for anything, and there's an example for everything!
Even if you want to look at a bunch of amazing colourful flowers and do your GUO in those it'll probably look amazing done right, there's so many examples of 'crazy' schemes in nature that you could apply to mini painting - I think this guy would look amazing going from purple to yellow personally!
Genuinely - google 'colourful flowers' and 'colourful frogs' and your mind will start exploding with possibilities :D
@@ArtisOpus wow theirs some crazy colours its crazy flowers have so many cool blends from colour to colour its cool as hell also what does GUO mean.
@@wolfbytes8787 Great Unclean one :D
@@ArtisOpus oh XD idk how i didnt get that
This is so cool, saw kirioths video and instantly regretted not checking out this channel sooner this is the. Best daemon I have ever seen and the fact that it was achieved with only dry brushing blows my mind
Just got my dry brushes from you guys recently and been having a blast with it! I find models like this really intimidating to try painting, but this video really made me want to give it a shot.
I imagine something like this would work well for my glottkin
Also thanks Kirioth
It is *perfect* for the glottkin!
Kirioth sent me here.
This is simply amazing, your use of colour and understanding of how they work is incredible.
Dry brushing is one of the first techniques I learnt. I now use it very sparingly but after seeing this I think it's time to start exploring again. (I have a great unclean one I've been afraid to paint).
May the Grandfather bless you with his many Poxs.
Great technique, simple and effective. You’ve done us proud
Looking Good! I personally really enjoy dry brushing, and find it really relaxing, so it's cool to find out new techniques.
I have so much to learn!
Looks absolutely amazing and the process was something new to me.
Huuuuuuuuudge kudos! I'm just getting into the hobby and it's such a great thing to take inspiration from guys like you!
So glad Kirioth wanted to spread the love as i didn't know you guys had a YT. That GUO looks amazing i've never seen drybrushing give an effect like that and so quickly. Gonna have to binge watch more of your stuff :D
Fantastic job, achieved so quickly and so simply. Just subbed and looking forward to seeing more 😃👍🏼
looks great Never seen such a great paint job from dry Brushing i think i have been enlightened today
Came here from Kirioth! This model is amazing and you’re paint job is insane. The blending is beautiful and the skin is so well toned and I will be buying a GUO just to paint along even though I don’t collect Nurgle. Well done :)
This looks amazing can't believe that was only 90mins, love this method and the colours definitely seeing more of the greater daemons would be good especially with the different colours each faction favor
Also thanks Kirioth for sending me over here your channel is great
That paint job is crazy smooth, definitely gonna try this!
Looks good man. I wasn't aware of this channel, but I'm glad Kirioth pointed this out to us. Keep up the good work and great content :)
Looks awesome! Really good results!
He looks absolutely amazing! Nice one!
Just got a great unclean one to paint for a mate and ones again, you guys were life savers!
that looks absolutely sick! nicely done
Amazing model great vid, really amazing to be able to paint something this good in such a short time 👍
A clean paintjob for the great unclean one. Love it.
to say I love this is an understatement, I have never picked up any nurgle models for fear of doing a bad job but this looks amazing and by the end I would be thinking maybe this thing is coming at you from a dark cave, scary and amazing
Dang! Looks really good, much better than I could achieve
Another Kirioth referral, instant subscribe - known how good your brushes are for a while but the tutorials are the icing on the cake. Thanks guys (and Kiri for the excellent recommendation) looking forward to watching all your stuff!
You're very welcome, nice to have you aboard bud!
Came here because of KiriothTV's recommendation, and was immediatly taken aback. I started painting miniatures simply by drybrushing them, never really happy with the results, then became adept at layering and shading, using drybrushing only for terrain or big surfaces. You have made my day by showing me that drybrushing can be taken this far. Many many thanks
These drybrushing video's have been invaluable thank you.
As a newer painter I’m in awe XD Definitely something to aspire too, especially since Death Guard are my boys.
Thanks for the tutorials and thanks Kirioth for pointing all of us to your channel :)
Your work is incredible mate, blows my mind what you achieve.
Linked from Kirioth, think both your channel's are great and watch often! Love the tutorials! Keep up the great work!
Nothing beats the beauty and decay of the avatars of nurgle. Tbh I'll probably never get the chance to paint anything as good as this but one can dream. Good vid!!!
Sent by Kirioth and my god Artis Opus that great unclean one looks so cool and in 3 hours god, love the scheme as well
Kirioth recommended your video and I'm glad he did. Enjoyed watching and the brush and dampening pot combo look like they work together really well.
Loving the colour scheme, great stuff
Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you Kirioth for sending me this way
I was amazed that kirioth recommended you. Really enjoy the work you've been putting in with the tutorials.
And this is once again an insane result thay just makes me want to keep trying new things. Looking forward what you come up with next.
Welcome aboard! That's why we do it bud :) Thanks for popping by, check out part two!
When I started painting I saw many people talk about dry brushing as a way to save time, but one that ultimately took away from the model in comparison to other ways of highlighting or texturing. It seems more and more that they were not aware of how to mitigate issue of texture buildup/flaking, and the time saved is the real deal. Thanks for helping to make high level results so accessible for people!
My pleasure dude, couldn't agree more, it's been ovelooked due to misuse mainly!
Jeez that has to be the best GUO paintjob i've seen, it keeps the classic green nastiness but shakes it up and give it almost an undersea vibe
Absolutely amazing. Super nice work. I love it. Would make Papa Nurgle very proud.
I love your painting techniques, the way you use dry drushing is unique and really efficient !
I'd love to know to do this :P
Keep up the good job, love your videos
Love those smooth transitions
Impressive result and the process looks very relaxing. :)
Thanks dude, and 100% yeah it is, enjoyable in every sense... as long as you don't put yourself on a timer :D
Love the blue-green color scheme you have, looks gorgeous! Keep up the good work!
Tah dude, thanks for watching!
Directed here from Kirioth's video... Never knew Artis Opus had a channel but have happily subscribed so I don't miss any more of these amazing tutorials!! 💜💜💜
I've just started with this hobby and your videos are incredible!
Great paintjob, looks amazing
This is my favourite figure... I painted it a few years ago with dry brush but that was before I found your brushes.... I may have to do another one now.... Nice work as always.
There's nothing wrong with having 2 GUO... although if you're doing that you may as well have 3, to make the Nurgle symbol :)
Really rotting to give these Series D brushes a go. Awesome work man, keep it going!
Hey Artis Opus! Sent here by Kirioth, and absolutely loved this video, Puppa Nurgle will be very pleased!! I have done a very small amount of dry brushing with single colours before, but like Kirioths videos of using these brushes this is totally on another level. Love it, ill be watching many morr of these and giving it a go sometime soon!
This is actually a very inspiring video, I've got to get back to painting my minis after seeing this!
Those try brushes are ruddy marvelous, the effect looks great!
Already watched this, but Kirioth sent me back! Amazing work as always! Each video I watch of yours I want to try to get into drybrushing more and more!
Awesome work! I love the model!
Looks awesome mate!! Picked up lots of good tips.
Love from kirioth’s crew
I m starting to do more drybrushing and it is starting to make my paint more fun. Love this model and it looks amazing. Will be saving to invest in a series d brush. Keep doing these amazing vids
Grandfather Nurgle is most pleased with your painting skills👍.
May his blessings be upon your channel👌
Men that is amazing! I love that method of painting!
Wonderful look, love the color for a neat model.
Looks really amazing!
That's a great effect from dry brush, I've learned a lot from this vid thanks!
Like most people I heard about Artist Opus brushes when they arrived, I was unaware of the YT channel until Kirioth directed me here.
What an amazing paintjob. I'm a big proponent of drybrushing (my hands shake so edge highlighting can be problematic) so it see it used so proficiently, and to produce such a good looking result warms my heart.
I'm off to watch part 2 now and who knows how many more vidoes.
Hey dude, I hope you enjoyed Part 2!
I''m a huge proponent for process over precision, with the right knowledge you can do so much, so fast, so I think this should be perfect for you, apart from dotting his beady-little-eyes there's not a precise bit here, and he turned out super.
Happy hobbying, dude :)
Wow, amazing to see this done with just one technique!!
Looks great! I love painting this way.
Absolutely fabulous! Love the way the skin turned and well better then anything I could do with a wet brush.
I've always loved to try these brushes but never had the chance with the price, seems to be amazing for all sorts of stuff I've wanted to test.
Here from the Kirioth Video btw!
This looks so amazing, and seems like a fairly easy thing to pull off. I can see it working best with the larger models for sure, though I bet it could be used for the smaller models as well. Thanks for sharing!
Loving the content cant wait to try some of these effects once I get the time
Never would have thought of doing a fully dry brushed model looks amazing.
Love this!! Beautiful mini!!
Your brushes look absolutely amazing.
I think I need to give them a test one day.
Before watching Artis Opus videos I didn't realized that dry brush can do such miracles!
:D Amazing!
looks fantastic byron. always a good tutorial from you guys.
Oh stoppit you! Thanks mate :)
