Hey! I need some advice, I really want to try this technique on a Sisters of Battle Rhino - the usual black, Order of Martyred Lady scheme. Can you advise what colours of blacks/greys you think would work to achieve this same technique but keeping the tank ‘black’? I’m stumped!

I prime my miniatures… I paint them. The paint just seems to scratch off so easy with my fingernail. Whereas, I’ve bought miniatures already painted off eBay, and they don’t look varnished, but you’d have to practically take some vapour to those suckers to get the paint off. I don’t understand where I’m going wrong ?

I'm curious how you could dry brush the bodies without hitting the carapace after painting it this way

I hear about a thing called a wash when people are painting figures and buildings, I’m just starting out so what do I look for at the store to get the “wash” ? Also love the video so much info!

How does this compare to the washes?

looks good but ill be honest tough, why not just oil oils for washes? it looks better, you have a much longer working time - you cant really screw it up once you know the basics, price is about the same. i dont understand why oils are not the standard for washes, it is easier than acrylic washes - the only downside is that they are toxic so just dont lick your brush

I've started a squad of CSM havocs (the most trim I think I've ever seen on a troop) and am trying this out - it's working amazingly and my guys look like sharpened antiques.

what would you say the ratio of paint here is? I'm thinking of mixing these into a pot for a whole army

I'd love to see you take on canopy and/or cockpit glass. It's very often a very unique bit of the miniature and acts as a focal point that greatly benefits from multiple colours, blending, and gemstoning within a very small focal point.

Love the AO tutorials , best on you tube for me as most level painters can follow, would love pdfs on the AO website I find them so useful in preparing and following. Please keep the tutorials coming. 😊 brought an AO brush to try as I am disabled and brush control ca be hard on some days. OMG never using another brand of brush again. gonna order a set now.

Just starting out. If I don't have access to legitimate contrast paint, would I be able to thin down (with water) some of the GW base paints. I have some ultramarines and I'm wondering if I could water down some macragge blue?

@ArtisOpus I think the Orange Carapace is my favorite. I was thinking about using the orange with a muted green, maybe an olive drab. Would you use the same technique when painting the skin? Or could you make a video on how you would paint the Tyranid skin?

I’m on painting 2k army slaves and I have two genuine questions that I hope you can answer and help me understand - how I can make that process for a large army? I mean how I can put everytime the equal amount of mixing black and silver to make all the model the same? -It’s possible use a more fluid liquid for that kind of day brush? I’m rally want use Vallejo Metal color like Burn Iron (very dark iron) Thank you and sorry for the long question 😊

if black undercoat is great for silvers, what colour undercoat would be great for bronze? dark brown?

is there an easier way to do tau panel lining and edge highlighting with dry brushing do you reckon?

Well, looking at what on my personal hobby list, perhaps more of a horns part 2, would be smooth horns where you don't have as much angles to help you hide the transitions. In a similar vein (hehe), painting wood on otherwise smooth plastic, like spears and lances. They could both go well hand in hand.

Could you at some point do a video on strong vs. weak paints? I hear a lot of painters talk about this but don't have a great idea what it means or how to measure it.

I know I've said it a lot but the timing of this is incredible. I'm currently sitting in front of a box of 20 something dragons and monster (which I've never painted before) so this is god tier information. Perhaps a claw/fang follow up next?
