Back in about 1979/80 I stood on the engine deck of a Chieftain while it went over an off-road course. Oil or ATF or what have you was spraying out of the engine bay. Back in those days nobody bothered with health and safety.
Hi Guys, as some one who grew up around these mighty machines, (my father was in the Royal Armoured Corps) it is wonderful to see and hear a Chieftain MBT on the move. I once saw a full parade of these tanks way back in the 80s when the Queen presented the Tank Regiments with new standards and the noise was amazing, which gave me a love of tanks that survives even to this day... which is no doubt odd for a fifty year old woman! Thank you for sharing your work on these machines, it is greatly appreciated.
I was on that parade, 2rtr had challenger 1 at the time, our colonel made a complete balls of our drive past as he went really slow at the start then booted it showing off, so a couple of wagons stalled and half of us went passed completely out of line!
What a great show that was, plenty of action and different tanks, perfect fine day too, almost coulda done with a water cart to settle the dust
THIS is the level of quality your vids were meant to be at. Lee should be in charge of ALL the videos from now on. Great job! Hopefully you get to a level where we can see a complete build in a series of videos. Like the ones the Australian Armor & Artillery Museum puts out.
Good to see Farmer Phil's old Chieftain up and running again. I remember the silly old bugger buying it in about 1998 and we all thought he had lost his marbles. Thanks must be given to Phil Harding for buying it and going to the trouble of getting it registered for the road. I think you and your mates have done a superb job of getting it up and running again. Bring ' er back to Shropshire and let us hear that engine rip!

Supercharged 2-stroke diesel engine, developed from the Junkers Jumo 205D. Yeah the ''scream'' is unique.
They used to build them near me in Leeds, I lived about 5 miles away when the wind was in the right direction I could hear them when the were testing them...
Yes I used to live less than a mile away from ROF Barnbow, Leeds. Used to regularly cycle to the test tracks and watch them. They used to build all the AVREs there. Sadly they closed the factory and transferred production to Vickers in Newcastle.
For those who dip in and out of the channel a "project review" video would be good to summarise the overall stories of the collections and rebuilds, it could round off a Playlist nicely and refer back to past episodes.
I need to see one painted in the BAOR Berlin Brigade urban camouflage, looks amazing. (And they won’t spot you going to the pubs in town 👍)
Lots of fun was had by all!!. Great to see them working out together. Background music is fine in the right place and volume, otherwise a very enjoyable video thanks Lee.
Given the current world situation you may have a shot at some early soviet armor after this is all over, channels like yours have shown a light on an important historical time that hopefully will inspire youth to work in reality fixing things rather than just playing video games. Thanks bunches
As a former Chieftain crewman (1RTR) it's great to see this old warrior restored and running. Don't expect the engine bay to stay that clean for long.
It should last awhile, a lot of the weak points have been addressed

Great day on the Saturday, a good ol' no f@*ks given, climb all over the kit experience. Except when that one lad decided to try and start Farmer Phils and the drivers hatch got shut fairly ricky tick! 😂 hope to make it again this year.

Hm, not to put too fine a point to it, but the main attraction and the clear star of this show was the Centurion.
Loving your videos! Any chance of buying yourself some radio mics as some of the audio outside is really quiet and it’s a shame to miss those dulcet tones!!
That Leyland multi-fuel engine was dreadful but I love the sound of it!

That was some effort getting those 3 tanks (2 x Chieftains and the BARV) to the show. Was the Centurion on the cars yours as well? That is some heavy engineering right there lads.
The centurion on the cars is mad max, if you look back through my videos you can see it being collected and worked on

Question: Have you fitted the exhaust expanson box which goes on top of the transmission (Weslake developed this, it gave an extra boost of 70hp to the L60 and was fitted to the Mark 5 and Mk 2' and 3's that were upgraded to mk 6.

It's a former 105mm AVRE,. The AVRE did have a second hatch which i believe was a co-drivers hatch

Not a fan of the pro editing,far prefer the raw editing that you guys do. It has better content with a more believable story line and feeling.
5:41 I’m sorry but I lost interest after a few minutes. The video just lacks charm. Lots of close ups, annoying music and not funny at all. I liked the old style.
The old style will still be around for the majority of videos, but sometimes I’m too busy to film so the help then is massively appreciated
