Because of you I’m breaking down old barriers … whole hearted gratitude… I’m loving the beginners course 🐉 fly magic
Wonderful! and you are most welcome 💞
I painted along with this video. this is so satisfying. thank you for making such a wonderful video.
This has been my favorite one to do so far. I made it for my mom's birthday and she loves it!! You're such an amazing teacher!
Loved painting this - very fun☺️
Ms Cinnamon you are absolutely awesome at what you are doing! Keep shining 🌟 thank you very much for what you are doing and teaching. It's greatly appreciated. And thank you Mr John also.
Thank you and it is our pleasure 🌺
This one was very fun! It turned out better than I expected.
thats great!
For me personally, you are by far the best instructor I’ve ever had. Thank you.
I Appreciate that so much. LisaDawn Thank you I am so glad you had Fun :)
This is such a relaxing tutorial! Just a few simple elements in this painting and what an eye-catcher it is! You are such a devoted teacher and always bring to your followers the best tutorials! It's nice to know you develop these classes especially to increase OUR skills and OUR knowledge. It's a little overwhelming just beginning but you break it down and make it simple enough to be able to reproduce! You and John and all the Mods are FABULOUS and I stay in awe of all your devotion. Makes me want to be better and do better! Happy Arting ALL!
Wow, thank you so so much 🤍
Thank you for being awesome and a great teacher! I've learned since watching you and I didn't know diddly squat lol.
Happy to help! 💕
Thanks!
This was a lot of fun. Thank you. I feel like I can see my skills improving with each painting
Awesome, keep painting. And you are welcome 🤎
Thank you so much for such great instructions and encouragement! I also appreciate the close-up camera work, to show brush work. I'm really starting to believe I could do this!😁
You are so welcome! and you CAN do this. 🌷
Thankyou ! the dragon flies remind my sister and I of our mom she was an art hippie💕
That is awesome. art hippies rock 🤍
Three down! Well, I miscounted when I started back a couple of weeks ago. It has been a little less than 4 years since I have painted. Still, that has been a long time and glad you are here to help me get back into the swing of things. I think I will do 5 of the 10 and some others to complete my 10.
awesome!
Hi. I've been working on your beginners course and have absolutely fell in love...I first started with some other sites saying "for beginners" with any explanations, and that's the best part of your videos, they actually explain why and how. I've been an artist mainly working in graphite and charcoal mediums for over 20 years, and I've always wanted to learn to paint. Having watched Bob Ross for so long, I honestly never thought it was so difficult to learn. That's what makes you so AWESOME, you teach. I love it...so much easier now that I've had a few techniques and brush strokes shown to me. LOVE IT...KEEP IT UP...YOUR THE BEST ON CZcams...THANK YOU
Thank you for your kind words. I also want to share that coming from graphite and charcoal you will have a super power as you add painting to your tool set. Value is the real hero of a painting while hue takes the credit. So you are really set up for success
Your advice about painting the sky and water were so on the money! I can't believe how well mine turned out!!! Thank you for having that beginner video about how to load a brush and constantly reminding us to go back to basics if painting doesn't feel effortless and fun. Something clicked on this painting, I switched how I load and now the brush ice skates across the canvas!
Glad I could help! and most welcome 💛
Adorable painting! Love it! 💖
This is honestly one of my favorite paintings. I'm excited to try this.
It is one of mine too!! Hope you enjoy it! Dianna Shuster Thank you I am so glad you had Fun :)
My favorite one so far!! Thank you for all you do, I'm actually starting to believe I can paint...!
Thank you so much that is very nice to read Pat Kolberg
Thank you CC and John for a fab tutorial x
Our pleasure 💙
Im having such a good time with these tutorials! Good going back and reenforcing my basics again. Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Dragonflies are my favorite! Love this❣️
I love them too 💓
this is a really cute lesson!! thank you for sharing this with us! one of my favs so far!
So glad you liked it 💝
It's an adorable painting with which I am having an awful time trying to copy!
Did you use the treaceable? That may help if not. What area are you struggling with? 💛
@@TheArtSherpa The thing I'm having the most trouble with is painting around the moon. It's the dry brushing and weaving in particular and also some color mixing. I need to practice more before attempting this painting. The first 3 were much easier for me. Thank you so much for all these great video lessons!
Almost finished working with you on this one! Just have to finish the color on the dragonflies. Even though I'm an "experienced" painter, it NEVER hurts to get back to basics once in a while. It's a really neat painting! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you and you're welcome 💝
Lovely!!!
Rosie Cotton Thank you so much
Thank you for another great lesson. This was my favorite painting so far :)
Most welcome and thank you 🤍
Great piece of art. I appreciate the details and this painting keeps getting better every time I take a look at it. Your perspective on art is refreshing..... Thankyou for sharing ❤️YOU HAVE A great FUTURE AHEAD!
Thank you very much!
This is beautiful 😍
Many thanks 💞
Going to enjoy this one!!
So glad. Have fun if you do it and be sure to share 🌷
@@TheArtSherpa i shared in group. My purple was crazy, when i got to the point to do the rest after the bright ring of color around the moon, i had to go back and add more to bring it to a bright color. It looked rather gothic lol. So that's why it's red and green. I looked at yours and saw those greens and red and pink. All the Harmony in it. Mine was so dark i almost made the moon darker but i couldn't. I had done the water lol. And my signature lol yesterday when you said something about a yellow/green signature. It rung a bell. That signature I didn't in greenish yellow looks more yellow in the picture i took. So i went over it with green green lol. It doesn't stick out so bad. But that's why i had to do it the colors i did. It went dark cuz of a blue i used. I've got heavy body and craft paints. I went with the craft paints after to bring it back some light. The blue on the liquitex is a Ultramarine... And the other is colbalt. It turned out pretty, but it was alot of work bringing back from the darkness lol.
Ok that was the "easiest" one so far as I learned some of these techniques in my landscape class, which means I got to experience of feeling of success despite my learning new brushes and paints challenges. I liked what you said about every artist faces a learning curve when faced with new materials. That was very helpful. Thank you for this video.
My pleasure and thank you 💖

Make that 4 now!!! I meant to post that on the last painting but oh well! Doing what I can with basically one eye right now. Double vision in my right eye so I am painting with my left.
Thank you for hanging in!!!
I am so looking forward to starting this course it looks like it is just what I need to start my acrylic painting journey, can I ask you what is the palette you mix your paints on please, you are an excellent teacher and relaxed and easy to follow, thank you 😉👍
It is a stay wet pallet. There are many many different ones you can choose from, here is the one I use www.amazon.com/dp/B0027AANR6?tag=onamztharsh04-20&linkCode=ssc&creativeASIN=B0027AANR6&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.1GDSH3V87HFUG. 🤍
Cinnamon,
You never said how far from the bottom you start the water? It looked to me to be about 1 /3 of the canvas? WOULD THAT BE ABOUT RIGHT? I love this painting!
Yes!
Help! how do you keep your paint wet while your painting dries between layers. I also asked on FB.
I recommend a spray bottle filled with water
I just found you. I started painting in Dec of 21.I want to do this, and where do I share my painting so you can see it. I'm so excited. Ty
Welcome!! You can share your painting here in our The Art Sherpa Official group facebook.com/groups/TheArtSherpa 💛
I applied your email and joined your FB but none has taken me in. My question is after the dragon flies in moonlight that I did last night what is the next picters I should do. I heard you say there's 10.I can't wait to show you my pic on fb but Noone will add me. Ty anyway.
Does anyone know which page this traceable is on? most of the others I found on page 19 but not this one
Sounds like music to Shawn The Sheep...lol
Lol!
AM I MaAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR MYSELF USING 5x7 CANVAS TO LEARN TO PAINT?
I have had people over the years say they felt that the smaller canvases were harder for them. I think for many people hat can be true and for some it's easier. Try going up to a 9x12 on one and see if it feels easier
😃
💞💞💞
Where can we share our painting with you?
My groups on facebook, online on social but its hit or miss. you can message me on patreon i have a free level and you can send images there and of course support@theartsherpa.com
A big problem I had here (wondering if someone else did as well): Mixing paint with the angle brush was very difficult. All of the paint would just load up in the bristles. By the time I'm done mixing, it's all up in the brush. I've never had this problem with my brights/rounds. For some reason, the angle (and also flat) gave me a lot of trouble here...Tips and advice most welcome (and needed)!
Absolutely, I can help with that! Mixing paint directly with an angle brush (or any brush with longer bristles like flats) can indeed be a bit tricky. The issue you're encountering with the paint loading up in the bristles and getting deep into the brush is a common one. Here are a few tips and pieces of advice to help alleviate this problem:
Use a Palette Knife for Mixing: Instead of using your brush to mix the paint, consider using a palette knife. This will keep your brushes clean and ready for painting, and you can mix larger quantities of paint more efficiently. The palette knife is especially useful for blending colors or creating smooth gradients on the palette before picking up the paint with your brush.
Preload Your Brush Correctly: When you do load your brush with paint, try to avoid submerging the entire bristle length into the paint. Instead, aim to load just the first third or half of the bristles with paint. This technique helps maintain control over the paint and prevents it from getting too deep into the brush ferrule, which can be difficult to clean and may damage the brush over time.
Maintain a Light Touch: Especially with angle and flat brushes, a lighter touch can help prevent the bristles from splaying too much and picking up excessive paint. Use gentle pressure when mixing and applying paint to your canvas. This will also help you achieve more delicate and precise strokes, which are often desired when using an angle brush.
Consistency Matters: Pay attention to the consistency of your paint. If the paint is too thick, it's more likely to get caught in the bristles. You might find it helpful to slightly thin your paint with a medium or a tiny bit of water (for acrylics) to make it more manageable and less likely to clump in your brush.
Clean Regularly: Make it a habit to clean your brush more frequently when working, especially if you're mixing directly with it. A quick rinse and wipe on a clean cloth can prevent the paint from building up. For a thorough cleaning, use a brush cleaner or gentle soap and warm water, being careful not to damage the bristles.
Practice and Experiment: Finally, each artist has their own unique touch and technique. Practice different ways of loading and handling your brush to find what works best for you. Don't be afraid to experiment with different brush types and sizes until you find the ones that suit your style and technique.
Remember, it's all about finding what works best for you and your painting style. Sometimes, it takes a bit of experimentation and adjustment to get there. Keep practicing, and don't be too hard on yourself in the process. Painting is a journey of continuous learning and enjoyment.Hope one of these helps some
@@TheArtSherpa Thank you so much! I'll put thought (and practice!) into this. Thanks for everything Sherpa, it's been a great journey with you so far. I think most important is to not be hard on myself. I forget that often...
Is your white paint semi-translucent or opaque?
