    iPhone parental controls do not work. You might think they are working, but they do not work.

    Thank you for highlighting the Bark Phone! We actually have a starter plan too - unlimited talk and text, no app store, no social media - $29/mo and the phone is free with plan. 🎉

    You should update this video next year, It's very helpful. I know that Bark phone is now a Samsung A14 and also has a no contract plan and the phone is free and you can keep after 3 months. Also since Gabb is updating their phone. An update next year will be very beneficial.

    Good job in explaining each device . We are thinking of getting a phone for our 17 year old. Shes in 12 th grade , heading to college next September . What I do not want is the easy access to the internet via the cell phone. She will have to use the lap top for that, and with a busy schedule there won’t be much time for they we are hoping lol
    Shes a good kid , reads two books a week , honor roll in her private school, plays all kinds of sports. I feel she is doing so well because she has never had access to the toxic internet so easily .
    Her lap top is monitored at home . Used for homework, reports etc. my continued goal is to not have have get sucked in to the internet nonsense . So, thank you for all that you do to help us parents who will not give up on their kid and allow the toxic internet , or the government run public schools get a hold of their child’s hearts , souls, and minds . ❤

      While as a parent myself I fully understand your fears and where you're coming from. But if your child is now 17 you might have to start releasing the reins a bit. To put it into perspective, next year they can literally buy their own phone plan and do whatever they want as an adult. You might want to quickly be working on them having access those those things responsibly instead. Teaching that self discipline by this age will serve them much better. Otherwise what could well happen is they turn 18 then go hog wild. I fully support this monitoring cell for younger kids or younger teens this isn't the best suited for nearly adults in my opinion. Sounds like you have a pretty good kiddo by the way. I'm betting you can give them some freedom if they are this responsible 😉 -Sincerely a mom of 3 bio daughters (19,17,13), 3 foster kiddos (16,15,7), a few "extra kids" (20,19,19) and a daycare provider 😉

      Unless she has a disability, she will be 18 and (legally) an independent adult next year. There's only so much you can "hide" from her at this point. Just something to consider.

    This is a great informative video! My son has the GABB right now but he’s 15 and feels like he’s getting too old for jt. He’s embarrassed at High school bc he has a “baby phone”. He’s been begging for an iPhone but I’m worried about all the work arounds and how complicated it can be. It’s great to know all the other options! 👍

    Is there a Gabb Phone with a notes app that can transfer notes from the phone to a pc via a USB plug? Also can the phone be purchased without buying a plan? I'm looking for a pocket sized device just for notes that is completely self reliant and doesn't need internet or an e-mail. Something strictly for taking notes. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Does the bark phone text/call without Wi-Fi on the starter plan?

    • @parentprotech
      @parentprotech  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes! The most basic plan (currently $49/monthly) is unlimited talk and text with no data. So, you would be able to call/text without WiFi. The step up includes 4 GB of data at the $59/monthly price.

      Problem I have found is all stores in my area don't even offer phones without Internet access. Also there are now tons of scam calls and texts that we didn't deal with growing up. Not to mention even just peers who have their number bullying, threatening , drugs, etc, sending inappropriate photos back and forth via text, and such. Sadly there are so many more threats than we used to have. So we have to always try to stay one step ahead of the danger when it comes to phones.

    Are there phones that you can see text messages?

    • @parentprotech
      @parentprotech  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Yes! Great question. If you want to see all of your child's text messages, the best option would be to look at the Gabb, Pinwheel, or Troomi devices. Bark monitoring will alert you if anything concerning comes up on your child's device (bullying, self harm, explicit content, etc.), and they will show you concerning messages in their context, but they do not offer a full log of your child's messages.
