    A couple more tips--
    A lot of people vomit during ceremony, which may be a good way for you to cleanse, however it is not the only way. You can cleanse and release through tears.
    If something scary comes up, cover it with Love and you will move into Love.

    Ayahuasca was the hardest thing I've ever experienced emotionally. The fear I had going in was profound, during was even worse. I don't care about the purging, the surroundings etc. It was the emotional torture that was terrifying. Dont think I'd ever do ayahuasca again, it opens pandoras box, and it actually had a negative effect on my life.

    Very good tips, thank you for your video. About the diet, I would say that it is important not only for the reason you give but also because the cleaner your system is the easier it gets when you drink Ayahuasca. You will not have as much physical discomfort. I think that is why there are no con-senses in what diet to follow. Do a diet to clean your system and that will help a lot. Also, the purpose of drinking Ayahuasca is to elevate your energy to higher levels so you can see more clearly into life and heavy diets just ground you.

      Good point ! There’s no one size fits all diet some people do better on a plant based diet whilst some people respond better to meaty diets. In general that is I mean but specifically to prepare for ayahuasca try and eat clean, light and foods that will alkalise the system . Cut out sugar, salt , spices and dairy basically do what’s possible eat bland and make some sort of sacrifice diet wise I’m sure ayahuasca will appreciate it!

    • @AdeptusPsychonautica
      @AdeptusPsychonautica  Před 4 lety +5

      It depends greatly upon your reason for doing such a retreat. If you are purely just looking to do some self exploration then 7 days (4 ceremonies) is usually enough, but if you are going to heal from some kind of severe trauma like PTSD then longer is usually better.
      Also factor in a few days on either side of the retreat to overcome the stress of travel. I normally try and get there at least 48 hours before the retreat starts so that I can rest and look around, and then at least another day at the end so that I'm not leaving the retreat and jumping straight on a plane. So with that in mind even a 7 day retreat turns into more like 10 days.

    I thought the diet is important because the Ayahuasca contains Mao inhibitors to make the font orally active. You can die if you eat certain food when you hav maois in your system

    • @AdeptusPsychonautica
      @AdeptusPsychonautica  Před 4 lety +1

      Death due to not following the diet is incredibly rare, I have not heard of such a case. Any deaths or sickness related to ayahuasca are always associated with taking pharmaceuticals in conjunction with the medicine.
      I do reccomend following the diet, however I know many people who never follow the diet, and I have on occasion been very loose with it without any negative effects.

      Well option 1 would be you explore that imagery, and work out why you might be seeing stuff like that. What does it mean to you? Are you scared of it? Why?
      Option 2 would be that you don’t use psychedelics.

      No I have never had anything stolen, and the staff at hotels and the retreat centers speak English. Outside of that you learn a few key phrases like “how much?” and “thank you” and that will get you by.

    I'd really like to go to an ayahuasca retreat but what worries me, is that whenever I read a 'Preparation Diet' for ayahuasca, or even the diet while there, is basically just a vegetarian diet focused on grains and vegetables. Now I appreciate this may work for some, but I followed this diet for 20 years and it has had disastrous effects on my health and mental state. I had (have) rheumatoid arthritis, skin conditions, contestant constipation, depression, zero sex drive et al. Red meat, specifically beef, is pretty much the only food that doesn't flare up my conditions. I don't know how I'd manage a retreat if I'm suffering from the pain that grains give me 🤥

    • @AdeptusPsychonautica
      @AdeptusPsychonautica  Před rokem +2

      Hi Paul, the traditional ayahuasca diet is not vegetarian. I have been on many retreats in Europe and South America and none of them are vegetarian, so if a center is claiming that you need to eat vegetarian that that is just their new-age belief that they are putting on top, its got nothing to do with the tradition.
      In any traditional retreat there will be a lot of chicken, fish, eggs, along with fresh vegetables. Red meat is prohibited on the diet so there is no beef or pork, but there are plenty of other sources of protein. Grains like rice do tend to appear on the menu, but any decent center will cater to your dietary needs. Just contact them beforehand, explain your situation and ask if they are OK with it.

    I imagined pretty much anyone who is a Dungeons & Dragons nerd / hardcore Christian in high school that take the ceremony would be one of the people that proclaimed they were the Messiah, or at least some of the people I grew up with anyway probably would haha. In all seriousness though, thank you for this. I'm hoping to do my first ceremony in December in Northern California, so no bugs or heat, just beautiful snowy California Wilderness out in the Redwoods in Winter, just where I need to be.
