- The Alabama Crimson Tide football team held its annual spring football game on Saturday, April 13th under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer. Jalen Milroe was 3 of 9 passing for 100-yards, Ty Simpson was 7-12 for 102-yards, and Dylan Lonergan was 8-12 for 67-yards. Do you think there will be a quarterback battle going into the first game or do you feel that Jalen Milroe will remain the starter? Running back Jam Miller was named the MVP rushing for 83-yards with a longest of 48-yards, but red-shirt freshman Richard Young also turned heads rushing for a powerful 29-yards of seven attempts. Defense couldn't show to much. But they are physical and ready... I like how Milroe started off still feel like he thinking to much at times!!!! But I think Ty and Dylan on his heels.. Dylan Lonergan was very accurate!!! RB's are great!! I came all the way from Gainesville Ga 2 T Town

A, RBs , QBs, DL, saw a lot of one-on-one coaching on the sideline. Atmosphere had great energy and good vibes outside the stadium.
Richard Young is our strongest back. Reminds me of Josh Jacobs.

Bad snaps are a big concern. Watch the scrimmage with a close eye on the snaps throughout the game and you’ll see what I’m talking about. We don’t need to have that problem carried over from the 2023 season into the 2024 season.
I wonder if they will look for a center in the transfer portal. No doubt that the coaches and staff have to be concerned about this.

His offense at Washington was a beast, QB protection and running backs look like they going to be a problem for all the defenses they face.
In response to the question, I am not "impressed." Nothing was just over the top extraordinary. It's just business as usual from what we've come to expect for Bama football. However, I am extremely pleased. The synergy feels great, and It doesn't feel like there is any drop-off from last season to this season, considering that this is only spring and Kalen literally just got here. So, now that I think about it, that is pretty impressive!!! There are still some things to iron out, but again, it's only spring. I believe we are right on schedule, and Alabama is about to make some nightmares come true this fall and be right back in the playoffs. 😂 RTR!

Milroe looked the same. TY looked good. The DC and the defense I’m really worried about.
Here's the thing: people have different opinions about the QBs and that's perfectly understandable. But every QB deserves a fair and unbiased analysis. Mack is obviously talented but very raw and not ready. Lonergan is very talented with a great arm and did well. Simpson has grown substantially, stayed calm in the pocket, showed elusiveness, and made some very good throws. Milroe had several excellent throws (the one to Bernard being the best in the scrimmage), including on intermediate routes. Three of Milroe's passes were perfect and dropped, so 6--9 more accurately reflects his performance. So where does this leave the QB situation? Milroe has the edge because of his experience and explosiveness with his legs, and because Simpson has not yet established that he is clearly the better choice. But yes there is competition, just like there is at every position. What's wrong with that? If everyone, as they claim, embraces competition, then why would you anoint anyone at any position a starter so prematurely? At the end of the day, we should support whoever is the starter, and I trust the coaches to make the right decision.

All the RB looked great! Young, in my opinion stood out the most. His physicality, running through initial contact and yards after contact was impressive. He looked quick and very imposing! Don’t be surprised if Young enters into the portal!
Young is set to eat for next 2 years…that would be silly….he does look as good or better as any of them

I love all the Alabama content creators you guys do a amazing job , I just don’t like the fact that you guys for some reason do not like to report the truth about Milroe. You guys don’t understand teams have and will adjust to his running. Milroe can not make the money throws on 3rd down anything 6-10 yard with accuracy. Until he can read defensive schemes a little better and make these throws he will have issues against Elite teamsYou guys forget that was the throw that beat us in the semifinal game with Michigan when the game was on the line. A simple 10 yard pass with timing over the middle basically ended our season.It does not matter how many yards he runs for until Milroe can make that money throw we have no shot. Hopefully the coaches will work with him and coach him up. Still can’t understand why no Alabama channels will tell the truth I’m guessing you guys don’t want to be negative however . It’s strange your guys are great at breaking down film I’ve learned a lot from them but at the end of the day the only thing tha matters in football after all the talk is what kind of throw a guy can make on 3rd down !!!!!!

Milroe will be QB1 barring an injury. He was 3 of 9 but had 3 passes dropped which would have gone for first downs. Which means he should have been 6 of 9. His stats would have been much more impressive. Both quarterbacks had one sack each. So I don’t see what the issue is. Simpson will have to TAKE the position. Milroe isn’t going to give it to him nor should he!
I get tired of this foolishness Ty does not have the upside of Milroe. I wish Milroe would leave Alabama you all don’t appreciate the young man. You all act like he is not good enough but you all accept the rolltide willy foolishness
@kenwashington5603 They were dropped because they were not good passes. One of his 3 completions was a terrible throw that Bernard went up and made an amazing play on. Stop blaming everyone else for Milroe completing 33% when they can't even hit him

It was a good day. I was looking at the Center and the snaps. The center looks good. Only i took from the game is it was good not over all impressed. Bama didnt look scary.

Agreed although I will say, Coach did say that both offense and defense were running Vanilla plays. That makes me excited frfr.
Need better tackling as a unit. Mack isnt ready as a qb.

So all in all I thought the guys looked good. Defense can tighten up, the only QB battle will be for 2 and 3. The tailbacks out right killed it. Kickers looked great and the fans showed out. RTR

I was overall impressed with how the offense started and how the defense adjusted. The offense got points on the ball quickly and often. The defense did give up those points, but they adjusted very well after each of those scores. A lot of contested balls, a lot of interesting coverages. I liked seeing Sabb all over the place in coverage and run support. Milroe had a rough day, but 4 of those 6 were drops or breakups. It clear to me that the order of the QBs are Milroe, Ty, Lonegran, and then Mack. Idk if it was stage fright or what, but he did not look as good as in practice, and he was mainly against 2s and 3s. I loved our top 3 backs and even our 4th in Daniel Hill.

Watched it several times now to key on certain guys. The dl
Was awful. But as many noted that’s kinda of a given at this point. We need depth badly there. The ol opened holes that’s for sure. I’m a Ty guy so I’m gonna leave the qb stuff alone. Just think Ty would be a more consistent qb over the course of the season. We need help at wr and it’s coming. The starting 22 will be very good but we need some backups to step up at a few positions.

I agree that the game format was not good at all from a spectator’s viewpoint. It didn’t have the continuity of a game. I think that some of that may have been caused by media timeouts. But I trust in the coach’s decision on what was the best use of time for improving team.
