In 1988 I was doing a public access show in Los Angeles...The Late Mr Pete Show. One night after a show, George Carlin called me at home and told me he didn't know what the F I was doing, but not to stop...George invited me to his home for Christmas dinner, and to Vegas to see him doing his act. 3 yrs later I had my own show on KTLA 5 in L.A. and won an emmy for best host. He saw something in me, and showed me nothing but kindness... Truly a nice, decent man...

He would be totally , both shocked and furious about all of the lunatics in charge of the asylum ( a.k.a. govt.) and the gender fluid, pronoun usage forced on "We the People" and if you do not fold or comply, or even just speak as you always have , saying Mr., Mrs., him, her, girl or boy you face actual criminal charges. Non-binary, woke and more and more crap. This is pseudo science. It is dangerous and the agenda is to divide us citizens and remove anything they deem a threat to their agenda, and there we have the white hate and Alpha male hate, because we WILL pick up our "tools" and accessories and fight it all. That rainbow flag does nothing but say, "you are not welcome or wanted". And they claim to be all love and acceptance. We are called Nazi fascists, yet we fought a war for four years and died by the thousands daily against real Nazi`s who would murder every one of those people. They have freedom to act this way because men paid the price in blood in combat to have these rights. Who is the real fascists? I am sorry, but your comment was simple and yet it was brilliant in thought. What would George say?? A whole lot is my feeling. Take care and I wish you well, again I am sorry I got a bit heated.

Saw Cheech and Chong in the very early days when they played in Vancouver in a topless revue they called Vancouver City Works. It was held in a topless bar that was trying to appeal to the raincoat bunch and the dopers. The bar was owned by Tommy Chong’s dad who had a reputation that may have been deserved or not. They were developing the doper skits that the became famous for and I think was recorded in an album called Big Bamboo. They deserved to succeed as hey stuck with it. I remember there might have been a crowd of less than ten in the audience. Ah those were the days

In 1978 or so George Carlin wandered into my father's bookstore in Westlake Village, California.
I absolutely knew who he was (I was like 16 or 17 at the time). I worked at my father's bookstore at this time. Of course, I *wasn't* working when he came in. Would've LOVED to have met him.
Maureen McCormick ('Marcia' from 'The Brady Bunch') also wandered in sometime. I was not working then, either! Would've LOVED to have met her. The two famous people that came in when I was working were Robert Young (from 'Father Knows Best' and 'Marcus Welby, M.D.') and Mickey Rooney. It was very nice meeting both of them.

Totally agree. In high school I used to find myself using his ideas because they were just so insightful. I wore "Class Clown" and "Occupation Foole" out in vynil and fake quoted them in book reports and stuff. I borrowed from him the fake quotation. I got several "A"s by referring to the British Colinial Shipping Board (which did not exist and so I could quote saying anything). Other times I followed his example of selecting to my own criteria. What's a teacher with 30 of these things to grade in one night gonna do, research? 😇 Confidence, baby. 😁

As per the comments of repeat stand up, I am OK with that. It was never verbatim repeat. He was always tweaking the material and almost always making it better. A lot of great stuff here. The only odd appearance was the 1998 super hyper stand up. It's followed by the classic accident stand up. It has to be remembered that George was limited in material to network standards and practices, much of his HBO stuff would never get through. Dave was maybe the only one I know of who actually expressed sympathy on the death of George's wife to him publicly. George expressed an appreciation for Dave's off the cuff comments with genuine smiles and handshakes. There was a mutual admiration that shows through many times. Too bad he didn't appear after 2001 (A great appearance, probably the best one here) it would have definitely been more great network TV. Thanks Don.
