Didn’t David beg and plead not to have the strap put on him because he didn’t think he deserved it and it was disrespectful to the wrestlers. Honestly, he sounds like a guy (from what I’ve read, don’t know him personally) who would’ve been quite happy to just pay his dues.
Alundra had every right to do what she did. Vince decided to basically get rid of the little women’s division he had and turn most of the women that could wrestle into valets. Now looking back those women from that era get no recognition for their contributions to women’s wrestling or any recognition at all. If Alundra didn’t do what she did, she wouldn’t even be known now
The one female wrestler I felt bad for was Heidi Lee Morgan. She was finally there (WWF/E) and then she was gone. She could've been a fan favorite. The WWF promoters could've booked some good TV matches with her as the underdog (based on her very petite size) and as an ally of Alundra. Back then, I think there were only 4 female wrestlers: Bertha Faye, Bull Nakano, Heidi Lee Morgan and Alundra Blaze. Just by the size of this roster told you how Vince never took the women's division seriously back then.
