DIY: sanding down synthetic sax reed

  • Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with any commercial companies, nor an expert on saxphones or reeds. It was just a surprise that the less costly reed model turned out to better (great) for me after sanding it down.
    Addenda: I DID get the same improvement sanding down a cane reed, and start to like the non-metal mouthpiece. (It sounds more natural, the cane reed, too).

    You have just destroyed years and years of tests and know how from Legère. The sandpaper you have used is used for heavy woodworking applications and the quantity of material left on the table testify that you have destroyed the reed. Do not blame the reed. Practice more instead...
