      Your game is fantastic, my buddy and I have played a lot of coop games on steam, and yours is the most fun we've had in a very long time. Can't wait for what else you do with it!

      I have something to add, he mentioned how sometimes a story is unnecessary, but if a game is going to be as linear as this game, with constant one after another quests that tell everything, then it definitely needs a story. If you don't have plans for more of a story, then it should be more open.

    I recently bought a cheap key for the game and already had a 12 hour blast playing this gem. Now I'm going to buy a copy on steam for a friend to support the devs, because the game deserves it!

    Hi ! That's a great review with a lot of very good points. I'd just like to drop my two cents here too.
    The quests are definitely... In need of work. Some of them are indeed very poorly worded, but many other issues stem out from them too. If you hang around the steam forums or the discord server for long enough, you'll see people consistently ask about the most basic stuff of the game. I think that's because the quests are too hand-holdy, they tell you everything you need to do step by step, and so if you're not actually thinking about what you're doing, you're not learning anything. In my opinion, there should be an actual proper tutorial with explanations on what you're doing instead of just step-by-step instructions, and the quests afterwards should be a lot more general objectives and vague, so that you're never entirely lost in the progression, but you're still left to figure out the exact solution on your own. (Except for when new mechanics are introduced, of course, like the drones from yesterday's update.)
    As for the controls issues... I kinda disagree. Sure, if you're trying to click on an inventory with a gun, you're gonna shoot. Either unequip the gun or press E instead, I always press E. Even forgot you could click, not gonna lie lol. And if you press E twice, then yeah, you do take everything. Then just... don't press E twice ? I'll tell you, I CAN'T live without E being bound to "take all". Have you tried destroying an entire group of COGs, walking to their bodies and repeatedly pressing "E" everywhere ? You open their inventory, take all and it instantly closes that inventory. It's super fast looting, it's great !
    For the immersiveness of the world (is that a word ?), I haven't found myself having issues with it, but I can see where you're coming from. Don't worry though, they're currently working on a new map from the game, made entirely from scratch, much much bigger, with a lot more interesting terrain and villages. The buildings currently in the game are placeholders, you'll notice there's only like 4 or 5 different ones. In the final version, each house will look very destroyed (and destroyed), and there will be a lot of unique buildings and locations. I'd say that's what I'm most hyped for currently.
    And for the depth of the game... I agree that most of the core gameplay is a loop. But you do get a few new tools each time. T2 is the greatest example : I always rush the first area to unlock HUBs, because automation is such an essential component of the game. I genuinely enjoy setting up my ship to be as autonomous as possible. And you'll find that the drones from yesterday's update are also a game changer.
    The more things they add and distribute in the tiers, the more each tier and area will feel different because of the tools and strategies you have to use.
    There we go... I think that's about it for me haha. Again, want to reiterate ; this is a great review, and I do not wish to come off as rude or mean or anything of the sort. Just like to share my point of view on things :)

      Thanks for the comment! always good to see people putting a lot of time and thought into comments.
      Agreed on the tutorial, I too feel it should be separate from the main game, maybe you get taught about Cogship functions before the submarine sets sail from wherever you came from, storywise it's almost a little odd to be learning on the fly in a combat zone.
      And yes the quests are a bit handy hole for the entire game. a good 'this is how the cogship works' and then the main game a little more exploration orientated would be a good balance.
      Controls, I think controls is always going to be there can't be one size fits all. I'm sure many people like the control system, if I do another play through (which might be soon with the update) I'd probably see what keybinding is available. Certainly not a deal breaker, just found myself pressing the wrong buttons right up until the very end.
      The immersive element, again everyone's got different wants in that department. IT was just something that became a running joke from my Stream Chat while I was streaming, about how well the trees were holding after each eruption. I think I saw there was a mod that addressed it as well.
      In terms of any issues though, that is why I stress to make a point of it all being early access, many things change over time.

    i wish the game have more depth. Like more stuff you can do like modify your weapons and the drill. And many more stuff i wish the game have. Hope the devs have plans to expand it further and bring more depth to it.

    So... you're saying I need coal? I love the vibe of the game, but the controls issues (at least with default bindings) would be very frustrating to me. Curious to see how this one evolves!

    It looks fun but the lore behind everything breaks immersion.
    Most of the time I have great ideas how to fix plot holes but I could only improve not fully fix it.

      This game is still lots of fun, regardless of my comments on the damage caused by the volcanoe. I certainly wouldn't count it out due to that.

  • @xBox360BENUTZER
    @xBox360BENUTZER Před rokem +1

    My biggest problem is the volkano timer, there is no gameplay relevance for it besides being annoying so the game would straight up be better without it

    • @beardedsquire
      @beardedsquire  Před rokem +1

      I like the volcano timer, gives a bit of urgency to get things done, plus it refreshes the resources.
      You can extend the timer in custom difficulty up to an hour, keeping all your other difficulty settings as you'd like. That might make it feel less prevelant.
      I'm sure they could figure out a different way to refresh resources, or put a bigger emphasis on the Mines for mid-late game resources, rather than nodes in them just have unlimited, but I feel that would make the game too easy.
      Or maybe the mid-late game focus for resources would have to be on raiding Cog drillships.
