I also like how we hear his real voice I'm this song - it's like he finally doesn't have to hide behind mask anymore.
There's 2 MVs from Porter that I can relate this to, and it's kinda surprising that "Easy" MV fits these more ways than "Shelter" do.

This is easily Porter Robinson’s magnum opus, the epitome and autonomy of his music is in this song. This song is what Porter Robinson means to me. Simple, cute, beautiful, rugged, and worthwhile arrangements and melodies. Harmonicas, kalimbas, Microsoft synthesizers, and the simplicity of all of that is in this masterwork.

this album felt like a warm hug from Porter to me. almost every lyric of this album made me felt like it was written to me; i felt so attached that i cried the whole journey. i just hope Porter knows that he reached deep into the heart of a 17 year old depressed teen, and he make him feel more alive than ever with his music

Listening to The Nurture album was a spiritual experience
What a fucking journey I been on. No skips, no fast forwards, no spoiling myself to hear the "drops" listening from start to finish. This felt like a once in a lifetime journey. I haven't listen to any of the past albums but u HAVE heard the singles from most of them, so this is my first ever listen, and oh my fucking goodness

this album means so fucking much to me. even the wait itself was kind of a spiritual journey because a lot of the singles dropped around the same time as some of my personal breakthroughs. i didn't make music when this album dropped, but i've struggled a lot with this sort of self-destructive type-A behavior and so i'm intimately familiar with a lot of the themes in this album. whenever i slip into old habits, this album reminds me what the spark i live for feels like.

How do you not just have the biggest grin after such a hopeful song?
I don’t think I can state with words just how much my life has been impacted by the incredible music you create. I first heard your music back when I was still in freshman year of high school, it filled me with a feeling I can’t really describe, it had so much soul in it. I continued to listen to it throughout high school, I don’t think I went a single day without at least one of your songs playing in my crappy knock off earbuds from the dollar store. Even today I still listen to each of your songs constantly. The music you make has given me so much comfort and joy over the years that I couldn’t possibly in my life hope to repay you for what you have done for me. I’m completely serious when I say that I cannot imagine where I would be without it. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything you have done, both for me and for others. Thank you, Porter Robinson.
Out of the more than 500 albums I’ve listened to, this one is my absolute favorite. Despite that, it’s almost difficult to listen to. It’s incredibly intense for me emotionally. It’s like staring at the sun.

Side note: I remember one night where I decided to try out a new burger place that was about a 30min drive for me, so I got in the car and turned the radio way up and played this song over and over again. It was so great driving at night with the windows down, feeling the nice cool breeze, looking at the night sky while having this song was blasting through the radio, driving to a new area and seeing new places, while also being very excited for my burger. Both the drive there and back was so much fun! Despite the fact that my life is very rocky at the moment, this little adventure made me so happy. Ah, good times. Did not expect a song titled so melancholically to slap this hard. The way it builds kind of reminds me of a Pogo or Liltommyj mix. Lyrically, that last verse calls back to Get Your Wish, thematically; maybe all the struggle of trying to create something is worth it if someone else can get something out of it, maybe it's okay that neither the process nor the praise that accompany it can REALLY leave you satisfied because maybe they're not supposed to. I dunno. That's just my interpretation.
What an album. Sat out on my porch and looked at the moon and sketched a bit and had some chocolate pudding while I listened to it. Not quite the drive to the sunny field that Porter recommended, but the album released at nighttime in my time zone.
It took a while for me to think so, but I think this is genuinely the best song on the album. It's so warm and fuzzy feeling, and you can truly feel that Porter found closure in his struggle. Can't thank Fantano enough for pivoting my view on this song from the album ending to the album "end credits rolling" song

Life shouldn’t always be about completing some task or quest to achieve something. Usually, in the smallest things, we act as if we want to get something over with, to feel *fulfilled* when we finish it. but sometimes we don’t feel fulfilled, we don’t feel satisfied. The happiness sometimes comes from the chore itself, to mindlessly do something that we think will make us happy, when it was all just a trick, or rather, a feeling we give ourselves to feel like we are living.

my definition of music, and how i'd describe it is - trying to convey feelings and hope into those who are hurt. music isn't about you, it's about trying to help those who are hurt. music is always about healing those who can't help themselves. music is about love and emotion, not profit. maybe you need a different way of looking at music porter, maybe then you can understand the feelings and trust you need. something i do, when feeling intense feelings of emotions is to sit still. listen to the music in your head, sometimes it may feel chaotic, but even then. if your having trouble with your music, sit with someone you love, do something you like doing. you'll eventually hear the song that correlates with your scenario, music comes to me when i feel intense. kinda like spider mans 6th sense. love you porter, always on your side.

Porter, this song means more to me than a lot of people will ever know. I've just came out as trans and for the first time in my life I'm starting to feel alive. Despite still struggling a lot, I'm happy that I'm here.
I've spent 23 years trying to exist but knowing something wasn't right and I'm still trying to climb that mountain again. I'm gunna keep slipping and falling but I'm not doing it because I "should" anymore, I'm doing it because it makes me feel more and more alive the further I get.

the very hardest vocal on the whole album to 'get right' was Trying to Feel Alive.
that was the very last song written for the album, and because i was kind of stuck on it, i became very worried that i hadn't progressed at all, that I hadn't actually improved, and that the premise of the album would then be a lie. (You can see the sheer distortion of the OCD / Anxious thinking there, but that's where I was).
of course, the reality is much more complicated: i had, of course, improved in so so so many fucking ways in relation to my own creativity, life balance, overall level of happiness, level of productivity, mindfulness, ability to sing, ability to write lyrics. but in that 'fight or flight' state, all of that was invisible to me.
the big error there was the perfectionism. demanding that, in order for me to consider myself 'better', that i can never fail or get stuck. that's obviously not right.
it's helpful for me to think of recovery as an "upwards spiral"! you won't ever be perfect, but it's okay as long as you're broadly moving in the right direction.
so anyway, back to the lyrics: i really wanted to write something for Trying to Feel Alive that felt truthful but also helpful. Something that expressed how I was still kind of scared, but that didn't contradict the central meaning of the album. And that took weeks.
I remember this breakthrough, when I thought: "Wait -- do I actually want to be happy happy? Like, completely satisfied, now that the album is done? Do I actually want to be DONE?" and the answer was a resounding fuck no. I realized that it's actually a precious gift to be dissatisfied, because that keeps you moving forward. I always want there to be another mountain to climb -- I feel purposeful when moving forward, even if I know no destination will ever truly satisfy.
So the final lyrics of the album:
