I had a bumper rechromed for my AMC AMX a few years ago. I was shocked on how expensive it was however when it came back it was so perfect it made it all worth while. I never really understood why it was so expensive. Now I see how much work actually goes into that process, it gives me a real appreciation for the craftsmanship in this process to archive these results.

Would love to see a proper close up of the surface finish before the coppering to give us an idea of the depth of scratches/sanding marks/level of polishing that copper can fill .
It would be a terrific guide to what the copper can/cannot fill.
For that matter close ups of the finishes at each stage.
    Regardless,
    fantastic content once again.
You have assembled a highly skilled crew of craftsmen at your premises.

5:10 “You can’t do this with a big tool, because you would end up wrapping the radiator shell around the spindle”. True, and I bet there’s a history behind that statement…

Hello, Very interesting and informative videos!! I have a question. Can you plate nickel straight over brass without using copper as a strike?. Do the zinc in the brass mean that a copper strike is required over brass? Thanks for the advice and great videos

it's a wonder anyone can afford to have one of these restored! :)
so chrome plating is a bit of misnomer... in that what we see is the nickel plating?

No, chrome is the outer layer, the very metal we do see and it has a slightly different color than the nickel under it.

When you “blast those oxides from the surface” are you reversing the polarity compared to plating?
