O my god ! This interviewer actually let people talk and have a conversation
Make a note of her and tweet about her so people get to know her.
So much better than tha awful man Stephen Galloway
They should let her do all the interviews honestly
she was excellent
She was amazing! Finally someone who asks a question and then lets the guests organically keep the conversation going!
Came for Mark Ronson, was pleasantly surprised to find David Crosby. Shocked he wasn't listed in the title tbh.
Because it’s ALL about pandering to millennials. Where’ve you been?!?!?
Matt you've got like a biiiig yeeeelloooow thing coming out of your mouth or the other way around. I wonder what it symbolises 🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣
#bewareofthesticksitdestroysthemouth 😜😜😜🤣
Lo yeah because MiLlEnNiAlS don’t know who david crosby is... get ur head outta ur ass lmao
Because the only song he ever wrote was almost cut my hair 😂
I could just listen to Mark Ronson talk about music for hours
LOL at David Crosby not being mentioned in the title for the roundtable...
I must say, getting the ol' Surprise Crosby definitely made my day.
who
its a lil gift who truly wanna listen to songwriters talk
Tim McGraw didn't either.
"I wanna have a near life experience" THIS describes song writing so much
Came for no Stephen Galloway and I wasn't disappointed. Thank you so much THR!
FoodforThought why don’t you like him?
@@solastacey127 are you kidding me? He ruins every single interview he touches. And he is arrogant and rude
FoodforThought gotcha
This is probably my favourite Round Table yet. I'm not a songwriter, but it was so fascinating to hear everyone talk about music and have everyone be so clearly passionate and knowledgable about a thing they all share.
This was amazing and kudos to the interviewer for letting the guests lead the conversation and not interrupting. Though would have liked to hear more from Diane and Kesha. Still, wonderful line up, engaging talk.
Jack's music has saved my life so many times. Kesha has changed my life a couple times as well. As someone who suffered from anxiety, depression, and bipolar, sometimes you just immerse yourself into a moving something song or album just to lose yourself and give your problems to the song... If that makes sense...
Definitely makes sense to me.
Your mom saved my life and your sister actually changed my life as well
David Crosby is so humble and curious and interested in learning from the others. Great role model.
🤞😣🤞 Please don't let it be Stephen Galloway... please don't let it be Stephen Galloway...
"I'm Rebecca Ford"
YESSS!!!😍
OneLoveRSR why don’t people like him? lol
Diane Warren is the best song writer at the table. That woman has written hits for legends!!!
Such a great roundtable! I wish that we could have heard more from Warren and Kesha.
I came here because of Diane Warren & Mark Ronson. I was a kid growing up listening to most songs written by Diane Warren. This is a very rare interview where you could learn from the legends... Thanks for this interview!
I love these when they are in a room together and not live. Great work.
love Kesha ♡
Please do more of these tables! Singers, songwriting, musicians 🙏🏼 It’s so interesting!
Thank you for these roundtable videos, they're incredibly interesting! Keep up the great work :)
So much better when Stephen Galloway isn't there
Came for Mark Ronson, was pleasantly surprised to find David Crosby. Shocked he wasn't listed in the title tbh.
What a great opportunity to hear from professionals who are successful at their trade!
Excellent discussion!
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Great stuff.
Came for Kesha
42:19 “Music is a lifting force that makes us better.”
As a composer/songwriter I couldn’t agree more about this discussion about how music and art can be used as a response and release to the current political climate. I think as an artist, you are able to tap into a deeper sense of empathy and emotional intuition, and with such political turmoil and human depravity, it is so easy to become overwhelmed and overcome by the all the hatred, injustice, and hardship that is swirling around us each and everyday. In the past year I’ve grappled with how to accurately channel the powerful emotions I felt in regards to the current political climate. Creating art and/or writing music is such a crucial way to authentically respond to the things that break your heart, to convey where change in the world or maybe in yourself needs to occur.
Thanks Hollywood Reporter for opening this dialogue with these songwriters!
I loved this!! I've been writing since my early teens as a hobby (30 yrs...yikes!) and I could relate to every word.
Love how the musicians swear way more than the actors :)
That assertion is entirely false and I've got fucking no idea what you're fucking talking about😂😂😂😂😅💡💡🤣
Because actors know how to act, songwriters can’t be anyone but themselves, unless they’re both which is hard.
This interview concept is so interesting
David Crosby is on this, should be the first name in the tittle...
@@giselebelle his name isnt even in the title...
who
But when you think "Tim McGraw"
I hope you think my favorite songgggggg
Can't express how happy I am there is no Stephen Galloway.
I appreciate the others. However, a video with just David, Mark, and Jack would be such an amazing writer/musician convo
I would add Diane as well!
When Mark Ronson dropped The Pharcyde's "Passing me by".... LAWD!!!!!
And then the sample!!
I WANT MORE OF THESE DAMNIT
It was awesome.
wish the men hadn't talked over diane as much, and that we'd heard more from her and kesha. enjoyable talk tho. mark and tim in particular are very likable. i'm glad the interviewer wasn't interrupting but i also wouldn't have minded a bit more direction or delving deeper about certain things.
What a table. I wrote down so many notes it's crazy. Crosby's right. Write down everything.
This is amazing
Kesha you are so pretty, and your journey is still long and i believe in you. Im here to always follow the journey of yours. You are my first love and the girl that i always dreaming to meet one day 🙏🏻
oooh, big guns on this table!
08:36 "Particularly recently in the last, like, 40 years..." The life experience of David Crosby just flashed by in a second.
14:00 The manifest ability that amplify creative expression by layering mutual relevance.
This was great felt like they could've gone for 2 hours
Please give us another hour thanks
Women generally make the best interviewers because they LISTEN and not being stephen galloway helps too
thats not true
Can we give Mr Crosby a monthly round table talk show?
🤞😣🤞 Please don't let it be Stephen Galloway... please don't let it be Stephen Galloway...
"I'm Rebecca Ford"
YESSS!!!😍
“I want to have a near-life experience.” Diane Warren drops lyrics like water. Unbelievable!
Came for Boots Riley!!
ummm can't believe Mark Ronson is 43!!!!!
my fave composer mark & diane sit side together❤
Diane Warren legend!
This is really inspiring
I can't wait to hear "I Hope I Don't Die This Christmas"!
That’s the moment I came back for
These introverts ❤️
Hey Hollywood Reporter: you need to have someone double-check the tags & descriptions for these roundtables. On this one, you left off Diane Warren from the desctiption - and other omissions (Tim McGraw, David Crosby) from the tag.
Love this video, but noticed David Crosby is left out of the title list, and Diane Warren is left out of the description
A round table discussion with Mariah Carey, Lana Del Rey and Sia would be amazing
Did they skip the cinematographers?
I've seen over the years quite a few of these roundtables. Maybe 20 or so. This is by far the most likable table. Not one asshole. Most other table have at least one guy I can't stand at all.
And all the other people in the comments are true: Crosby is the biggest star at this table. Shocking that his name is missing in the title.
I think the most recent writers roundtable was amazing, Bo Burnham was a huge highlight, Galloway was the only problem.
@@tathan201120 Lotta pompous assholes in that one actually
Boots stands out so much
Mark Ronson has a wierd dialect. Sounds 80% californian (is that a thing?) and 20% british. Also you forgot to put Diane Warren in the description.
And David Crosby is a treasure.
yeah, he used to have more of a british accent but has been spending a lot of time in LA
He was born in London moved to NY as a child
He's 100% British, he just likes to sound American.
@@vincevirtua He has dual citizenship. British-American. And his voice sounds like a combination of British/West-Coast American accent. I hear both in his accent.
Excellent video for all songwriters to see.
songwriter,
John Pucilla
David Crosby clearly is the more experienced and stated the more interesting things. His anecdote about Joni Mitchell : Just write it down!!! Woooooow 📝📝📝
Oh wow Kesha wrote Pink Champagne when she was 12 lol she ended up giving it to Ariana Grande
Really lovely interviewer. Such amazing talent there, what a pleasure to experience!!
I would have loved Sia (or John Mayer, as someone else suggested) instead of Tim tho.
I loved Tim McGraw and Kesha is just a cutie.
I loved this discussion and holy crap to the people sitting around this table! I came for Mark Ronson and was surprised by Crosby and Antonoff. But that said, I did end up taking a break 15-20 before the end because I felt like Diane Warren couldn’t finish a thought without being interrupted and/or spoken over by almost everyone but s few people including the two other women. And that’s not to say anyone was malicious or that it was a conscious act. But it was just really obvious and bothersome to watch after a bit, imo.
The interviewer, Rebecca Ford though was pitch perfect! She always knows when to just let the subjects have a good convo. And she knows when she needs to step back in. She proves that you can be around strong personalities as an interviewer, and still control the room through active listening. I wish she could host these roundtables more often!
07:00 Creativity is best shared intent in present sense and mutual relevance, much like any worthy endevour.
this is so underrated
David Crosby being the star of this interview....its what she deserves.
I wish ester dean was in this circle
she is such a great host!!! sooooo much better than stephen!!!!!
boots is amazing
I love rainbow
3:44 why does the dude on the left side of that photo look like Benedict Cumberbatch? lmao
the hardest thing about this roundtable is how the woman are interrupted and talked over - such a mirror as to how the industry works
What the Byrd band guy is stating so true : Big collective collaboration instead of crushing individualism...
Andi Leonard Currie
what about Max Martin? Would love to see him getting interviewed.
from what I heard he likes to avoid the limelight. Very private person with a motown heart
They could only manage to get c class songwriters to agree to this round table lol
My people
I wish Diane Warren and Kesha had more talking time.
Why?
Kesha barely spoke
Listening is good too
Dear THR, REBECCA FORD is your clear replacement for that assinine Stephen Galloway. She is a super interviewer. Do it.
Seriously where is the cinematography round table?
Are fucking kidding me? We don’t get a Production Designer roundtable but y’all took the time for this!?
That is some serious net worth on this table...i mean just Warren and Ronson only. Also to the (probable) millenial who wrote the title of this video and not mentioning David Crosby....really?
they often leave out a couple artists to keep the title shorter, i noticed it on almost every other video. no shade intended im sure..
where's one of the great songwriters SIA
*Boots reminds me of Katt Williams.*
Kerra Johnson voice and looks!!
Ugh I’m waiting for Sia😫
All these boys talking over Diane... who is a LEGEND! Settle down...
So inspiring! They keep talking over Diane Warren :(
Honestly just came for Kesha and Tim McGraw I have been big fans of them for awhile so I just wanted to hear what they said to say.
You just lost all credibility by saying you are a fan of Kesha.
I love Kesha, wish she spoke more. I love her writing process with her mother
@@FoodforThought12345678dsds Excuse me? Kesha is a multi-talented and -dimensional artist who is one of the most iconic pop artists this decade and one of the most acclaimed ones at that. Anyone that knows her ought to be a fan. But I suppose you're still stuck in 2010? Don't blame others for actually knowing who she is.
@@mikes3113 "Multi-talented", you think her music is good? haha
@@FoodforThought12345678dsds To you, perhaps. Someone being a fan of a certain artist doesn't invalidate them or their opinion at all to me. Pretentious a-holes like you on the other hand...
diane warren is the best songwriter out of all of them.
Tim McGraw has a writing credit on about five of his songs. He seems like a nice guy, but a person who doesn't write songs shouldn't be at a songwriter's roundtable.
DAVID CROSBY
crosby, ronson, antonoff goats
Jack Antonoff man
Written.
Y’all couldn’t get Joni instead of Diane 💀
❤
If the devil took the phone
I say, see in the dome
RIP to RBG.
This was the most awkward intro haha
8:26 who knows morse code?
