I would really recommend you guys to improve audio. Your voices are barely understandable in some moments.
Agreed. Body worn microphones are a must on interviews like this. The camera seems to have a narrow angle mic so the voice of Mr. Doyle fades as the camera is moved relative to the speaker.
Panzer III suprised me, but how mr Doyle explained, it made perfectly sense. Yes, de sound could be beter, but you just endured it because of mr Doyle's interesting explanation.
easy on the eyes though
say what? I can't hear you.
CC was pretty good until the last segment. A lavalier mic would definitely help. Contribute to the channel so she can do an audio upgrade.
Always a pleasure to listen to Hilary Doyle talking about German WW2 armor ;). More, more, more...
A former neighbor of mine was a German tank gunner in World War II and he was on various tanks and said the Panzerkampfwagen V (Panther) was the best in use. The firepower (75 mm) and the mobility (700 hp) were in the right proportion, and the reliability was also good.
Normal Alphabet: A, B, C, D...
Panther Alphabet: D, A, G, F...
Technically Its D, II, A, G, F
Why II ?
@@mr.waffentrager4400 Panther II
@@STHV_ shouldn't be it after f ...because it will use the f turret ...
@@mr.waffentrager4400 It would never have used the F turret, the Panther II project was cancelled long before the Panther F was even designed, it even came before the Ausf A
That Panzer III had a charmed life to have been in service that long and undergone so many upgrades. It even has two different type drive sprockets on each side!!
If I had to guess it could be one from the norway garrison. The german troops in norway, while numbering some 400.000 soliders, usually got the "left overs" as far as equipmeant went because for obvious reasons there was a bid more demand for it on other active frontlines. So at wars end for example the "Panzergruppe Norwegen" had still Panzer III Ns and Stug IIIs, because they had barely any loses do to onloy fighting partisans at most.
A Panzer III. on the eastern front in 1944/45 would be a suicide job without massive support from other tanks as it was only usuable against infantery at this point. However instead of wasting them they just send some to the Norway garrison and thouse vehicles survived the war in pretty good condition (not sure if they got scrapped though)
Here video fottage of the german tank troops in norway going into captivity in june 1945 and finally leaving their tanks behind: czcams.com/video/qVEnteNh2OU/video.html&ab_channel=NormandyInvasion
I recognize the Panther from the collection at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Of course, they cut it open for educational purposes and then left it outside so even the interior could rust. Also, that StuG is amazing! Thanks for bringing them and His Eminence, Hillary Doyle, to us!
Yay! ♥️from Sophilein!
Doyle is great, but oh that Panther is in a bad state. Made me sad.
I noticed the cut open panzer and recognized it from APG. You are right, it does look sad.
Used to pull Guard Duty there when I was in AIT, back in the early 80s.....
That jacket gives me vibes of the Panzerwaffe! :)
Sofilien's coat looks no less than a German commander's coat...just needs iron cross and badges
I'll salute her.
I guess Hilary changed his mind since he filmed our Panzer IV video, he had put Jagdpanther at the top of the list. Unless Benning doesn't have one
It may have gone to Fort Lee.
@RyanThat doesn't really apply here since No.2 was the StuG III.
@Ryan oh Ryan. . . . .what have you done
Jagdpanther was his favorite tank. (As that was the question you asked him)
This video asked what he thinks were the best german tanks.
And as you very well know there is a huge difference between favorite and best xD.
For example the Strv 103 is my favourite tank but im well aware that its not the best tank.
(As that title can only belong to the Bob Semple...)
@@Mattebubben A fair distinction
Nice tanks but we also come for the excitement and personality of Sofilein. Always include yourself in your videos, you are the star of your videos.
Damn I miss that King Tiger being at the Patton museum ! I’ve put my hands on that glacious plate several times. What beast !
Truly the best tank videos, Mr. Doyle’s knowledge is so impressive.
I love when Mr Doyle mention the turty seven mm guen. Lovely accent.
I love Rewatching your videos with Hillary in them you are awesome. Thank you for your dedication to tanks!
There can never be enough Hilary Doyle
That Panther desperately needs to be restored, inside and out. I'll go to sleep tonight and have nightmares or me sandblasting all of the rust and, like Sisyphus, always finding one more thing to work on. It would be a project worthy of spending a lifetime to complete. BZ to professor Doyle, as always hyper-informative presentation.
This is great Sofie you are really bringing some great content. I love your passion have a great day.
Fascinating video. For whatever reason I've always found tanks a topic that draws me in. Thanks for sharing. :)👍
My breakfast watching you two was very enjoyable; entertaining & all always, informative. I look forward to seeing more. Thank you for your high-quality reporting.
Let's hope that we will actually have militracks this year... But it certainly would be nice to have both of you coming over here to the Netherlands to attend!
CORANOVIRUS...tss,tss,tss...
I got a picture from militrack 2019 that got photobombed by doyle
I really love these videos with Mr. Doyle. Good Work!
Outstanding video and presentation.
Outstanding video and presentation. Thank you
That gun tho. Wowza.
I always read about how thin the armor was on the side of the Panther and the side of the turret, but to see the cut-away like that was REALLY eye opening! I still love the Panther, but I think i'd rather be in a Tiger now.
Oh what a great video. Thank you!
Get a couple of mikes Sofilein. Great show apart fro sound.
appreciate this while i'm stuck inside but please don't let him get sick!
what's better than watching Sofilein and Hillary Doyle talk about tanks while being stuck inside? nothing yet; thanks for the video!
Well, i'll tell you what's better. Seeing Hillary Doyle and the Chieftain doing a MUCH more interesting video on the same thing, with much better quality.
Its always fun and interesting listing to Sofilein and Hilary Doyle.
Here's a suggestion: don't just comment about the sound, fund an upgrade for her. Sofilein is using the equipment that she has. If you want better sound and you like what Sofilein does, help her out with your sound production expertise, suggest a solution and help fund it.
The audio is on the producers not the viewers, get real here...
Love it, Sofi... definitely give us more Hilary Doyle!
Verrrry cool. Thanks!
Good to see that the vehicle collection is now sheltered at its new home. Thanks for the efforts at providing historical commentary.
Great work Sofilein! Come back to the NACC soon!
This filmed with a gopro? Its hard to hear.
Potatoe
i wish i knew you ....both of you are great people so glad we have you tube
Thank you Sofie and Mr Doyle .
Thank you for the video. 😎👍
I can NOT give enough thumbs UP THANK YOU SOFILEIN!!!!
sound could be a bit better .great video
Awesome thanks!
Great vid. I was pleasantly surprised by his choice of number one tank. I would never have guessed, but he sold it very well, and I'm converted...I'll go out and buy a model.
Ha - I was waiting for him to say Tiger I is Numero Uno!
This is fantastic SOF
Cool, they had that hull escape hatch open. I’ve got one of those in my collection.
First time i hear intelligent explanation of certain Tanks and their use
❤ awesome thanks for the info , ❤ the Videos 😊
Sofi, I really enjoy these videos with Mr. Doyle. I hope there will be more collabs with him to come and with Nick Moran as well. Your vids continue to improve. They get more informative and entertaining and the overall quality is almost always excellent. I'd be willing to bet that most of the trolls in this thread couldn't and don't produce any content or at least any that I would want to see. Cheers and keep it up!
Wargaming need to provide you with mobile microphones for your videos. Ask Nick - he has one for the Chieftain series. If they have nothing in the budget - just put up a fund me and your followers will provide the means to get one. Think Paul has one which Rita borrows too.
Just put a link to the 'Fund Me' in your next video text and tell everyone where to send the dosh.
Excellent!
What'd I'd do to sit down and have a beer with this man and just talk tanks ... 🍻
Indeed. He also has the knowledge from all the tank crew members he would have met.
I have read that Panther manuals instructed the drivers to drive at no more than 80% full throttle to avoid damaging the final drives!
10/10 styling Sofilein
III is one of my fav's too.
wow.... great video
I'm here because I build scale model armor!! Awesome content tons of details
You are the best museum collection..
Thank you
I would like a calendar with Sofilein sprawled on WWII tanks!😚
Guter Mann dieser Doyle, tolle Bücher! 👍
Por favor habiliten los comentarios en español,subirán exponencialmente sus visitas,.....y de paso entenderemos sus enseñanzas!!!!!!, gracias por su labor histórica!!!!!
Fantastic
sehr Gut!
Love the Stug III. Wittman started in one I believe
great vid. I really like the Panzer 3.
I love Hilary Doyle's books!
Can't count how many time's I've watched this but i love Sofilein and Hilary, but just joking did she do Hilarys hair that day ?
I like these older vids from before Sofe adopted the freaked out cyborg look LOL!
yes it is approximately 2:14am and this is where i have come back too. Quick question in the beggining of this video you make the Digit symbol holding back you thumb and pinky. is this normal for you or was it something quarky you added in.
Is that the infamous 'Windhund' insignia of the 16th. mot. division, on the Panzer III - with elements of a recon unit reportedly coming within 20 miles or so of Astrakhan during Fall Blau?
The Panzer III is awesome. Where did they capture it, in Denmark or Norway? Since this improved Ausf. F was still in use in 1945.
Panzer III - my top choice too. Although its armor was inadequate later on in the war, its 50mm long barrel with armor piercing shell can still knock out many T34 at long range.
Would recommend finding a vehicle with good NBC protection & staying inside for the foreseeable future. And do the world a favour by taking both tank museum Davids with you.
I thought Hilary was standing next to a Maus when he was talking about the Panther ! He is the ideal size to be a tank crewman, especially the Russian tanks.
Please tell me they will restore those Tanks back to factory looking without all the cut outs. I think I remember reading that they still had the parts they cut off ?
Holy shot- close quarters. I’m wondering if the Tiger did any better at the battle of Kursk. The Russian T-34(?) out numbered the panzer. I’m really loving your show. Thanks 🙏 I have a lot of respect for the old tanks. Your commentary is brilliant.
This video is so cool, for me, because a highly respected World renown expert, who possesses many years of accumulative knowledge, is allowing complete novices in field of German Panzers of the second world , such as myself, to understand which Panzers were in fact the most effective overall, as fighting vehicles throughout the entire conflict. I am so glad that I discovered this channel and subscribed to it. Thank you.
If you haven't already you should sub to The Chieftain, he makes even better tank videos imo, since he has first hand experience being a tank commander. The Tank Museum Bovington also has a great channel, and they often feature people such as The Chieftain or Hilary Doyle.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Getting to listen to Mr. Doyle is a real treat and it's awesome to be able to share. Don't miss out on his books, really really extensive works but very accessible for us newbies!
@@sam8404 Yes, I subbed to The Chieftain after watching a YT review on Leopard 2, at a friends house, and saw his channel. I saw your channel and subbed whilst watching his. So glad that I did. Thank you so much.
The chieftain puts bias before anything else, he DOES NOT give proper credit where it is due, just watch his video about the bloody tiger 1, this man here with 36 years!! Of research knows his stuff not an ex Abrahams tank commander
A little hard to hear at times, but anything with Hillary Doyle in it has got my vote!
Sofilein ging allein
In die weite Welt hinein ..
The sturmgeschutz 3 roughly translates to assault gun, and was never designated a panzer, it was always an assault gun, used to destroy enemy fortified bunkers and pill boxes in support of the infantry, it was so far removed from regular panzer divisions in the early days of the war that it was crewed by artillery men.
Is there a good source on Panzer kill ratios? I know it’s certainly not everything for a tank but still curious
Yessss excellent
Great video. I'm reading one of his book now. Great books
Hilary Doyle is a cool guy. Nice video.
I recommend investing in some basic body mics, dont have to be expensive, but better than nothing
Name a more iconic Duo.
hey how are you?dear sofi i just subscribed your channel and can i visit this weapon museum on this month? can i know the address of this museaum??
Yeah gotta do something with audio but besides that cool vid thanx
Plese get some microphones, love the videos
All tankexperts of the world bow to Hillary Doyle! Master of em all ;)
The sound! OMG.
A wonderful girl who makes a great show about tanks. Love you
100% Agreed
6:17 I thought he said a laser turret.
Great vid girl.
... Adore the v late stug ,my favs!.
Can not hear anything
You look like a German tankerette! Beautiful!
I would like to ask him why he chose the Panzer III over the IV
It'd be fascinating to hear his reasons
The Pz.3 between 1939-41 didn't have the best armor, gun, mobility of all the tanks in the world. However, it was adequate to excellent in all those respects in comparison to other nations tanks. Probably most importantly, it was reliable, great crew ergonomics, and had excellent visibility for acquiring targets. It was a great "all rounder" and usually had well trained/experienced crews in them. The Pz.4 didn't really come into its own until it upgraded from the 75mm "stubby". By that point, the U.S. and Soviets were fielding their own competent tanks. Imo, the Pz.3 was the best tank in the world for a couple years. I'll bet Mr.Doyle would say something similar to this...but I'm not him so I'll let myself out now
Many people say if the German's had stuck with up-graded STuG lll's and Panzer lV's they would have done MUCH BETTER. The Jagd series of the Panzer lV. (Jagd Panzer), had the up-graded gun and could have handled the Western front. Jagd Panther's and Tiger's in limited production only for use in the Eastern front. Very good video!!
