I have 18 Sonos speakers around the house; but, not for my laptop in my office. I like using my Bose QC45 noise cancelling headphones as needed for sound (usually have the LG OLED on for background with the Beam/Gen 3 sub/One SLs). Sonos speakers have sooo much capabilities and they would be under utilized for my set-up as laptop speakers.
Do like I do and use this for your laptop but also keep in mind that they will be an AirPlay devices in that room for iPad, iPhone, etc. too! That's quite a bit of Sonos speakers! Hopefully Sonos continues to place emphasis upon quality because they're currently the best speakers in my opinion! #Sonos
@@IrixGuy I have the option in Windows 11 on my Dell XPS 15 laptop to duplicate or extend my screen over wifi on my LG OLED 55C1 that has my Beam/Gen 3 Sub/One SLs. That seems to work pretty good if I need external speakers instead of using my Bose headphones. I also have the Sonos app for Windows on my laptop that has all the features just like the smartphone app (except walking around doing Trueplay tuning). There should be a desktop Sonos app for Mac also.
You are the only guy talking about this in entire CZcams, its amazing how none of the "reviewer" even makes a mention about whether you can hook it up to a Desktop, do you think your same setup works for the Sonos 300?
Yes I know and it’s nuts! Sonos even has the settings for a computer within the Sonos App. I’m not sure why Sonos and others don’t promote Sonos Era 100s for use with a computer. They sound great and it makes zero sense that there seems to be no awareness being raised. Although there is plenty of bass, I plan to add a Sonos Sub many to this stereo pair next. Subscribe and stay tuned for that video. The Era 300 makes the best speaker for television rear speakers, if you have a Sonos Arc below the TV. #Sonos
Hey great video! Just did not get if you can stream your pc audio by buletooth to a Sonos speaker and then this speaker keep using WiFi to be paired with all your other speakers, so let’s say, using the first BT device as a hub for you pc with your wifi Sonos speakers. Thanks!
So with my MacBook Pro I can use Bluetooth or 3.5mm audio connection and my QTY 2 Sonos Era 100s & QTY 1 Sonos Sub Mini all function. Also, you could use AirPlay to stream to multiple rooms. For example, these three speakers are my computer setup but I also have Sonos Beam + Sonos Sub in two rooms and also Sonos Arc + Sonos Sub in another room. If I'm throwing a party, I can AirPlay to all of those Sonos speaker pairs at the same time via WiFi. Does that make sense?
@@IrixGuy Thanks a lot for your quick response. It makes sense if you have a MacBook, don't know if it would work with a windows pc. It would be great just to output your windows pc sound directly to a paired BT speaker and then to have this speaker partied with your whole system, so you get complete integration.
When these speakers are paired using WiFi, I get two speaker or two speakers plus Sub via one audio cable or one Bluetooth connection. I connect my 2 Era 100s and 1 Sub Mini to my MacBook Pro via a 3.5mm audio cable.
if you have your office behind your couch, no you cant connect 2 era 100 to pc and at the same time use them as rear speakers of the tv. even though you can connect to 1 era 100 with bluetooth and maybe the hack in this video works to get 2 with 1 connection, this will not work if they are part of a setup in the Sonos app (necessary for the TV setup), because once the era100 is in that setup you cant connect to it via bluetooth anymore! removing components from a setup temporarily and then putting it back is too much waste of time, look at videos of sonos trueplay tutorials, you would have to redo it every time you switch
to my knowledge you can only stream to the tv setup from pc, meaning the whole system and it s going to lag whole seconds, horrible for youtube/video games
This is my dedicated computer speakers setup (2 Era 100s and 1 Sub Mini). That’s the max size unless I added a Sonos Beam or Arc to allow further expansion but that would be overkill for my computer. I wish I could pair an Era 300 in rear without soundbar but that is currently not allowed. #Sonos
excited to see the difference between line-in vs bluetooth I have a beam + 2 era100s, but just thinking of connecting my tv directly to the era 100s using line in now
Honestly, for a TV, I’d suggest a Beam or Arc soundbar. Check out my video where I showcase the mount like i use. You could always add Era 100s or Era 300s as rears in the future. To be honest, I have Sonos Arc and Sonos Sub in the bedroom and see no need to add rears. I would probably add rears in a large living roof if there is space behind the sofa for them.
so I should be able to connect one of my sonos era 300 to PC (windows user here) via Sonos Line-In Adapter and then the other should sync via sonos app (wirelessly) so I can use them as a stereo setup, am I right?
That is exactly how mine works for a Mac. Actually, now that I have two Era 100s in a stereo pair, I can use line-in or Bluetooth and I still get the stereo pair vs. only one of two speakers. It works great!
thank you for sharing your secret ! 😊 I use ma stereo pair ERA 100 with my MacBook connected with bluetooth but one ERA 100 is considerably louder than the other (the one connected in bluetooth). Do you experience the same issue ?
I have experienced that. Had you tried using the Sonos line-in instead of Bluetooth to see if it happens with that connection type too? Did you run Trutune? That is very strange.
I maybe have found a solution for my stereo bluetooh issue : I don’t know why but in my macbook sound parameters the balance was not idle ! Do you experience that too ?
i got the sonos era 100 setup in stereo mode. im using line in and for some reason i am getting a 2 second audio delay. Im trying to find a fix for it. if anyone has any info please share.
I have the same config, been having issues with bluetooth dropping connection to the Mac after about 60 minutes. Are you using the Sonos adapter and the audio cable to the Mac? what is the optimal configuration
Just to get this clear: I am currently using my Sony SRS-XB43 as a computerspeaker via bluetooth - Would i simply be able to use an Era 100 as a replacement?
Great question and I need to film a video explaining that. To summarize, create your Sonos stereo pair first within the Sonos App and then add the Sonos Sub if you have one. Next, push the physical button on one of your two Sonos speakers to enter bluetooth pairing mode. Finally within the Bluetooth App on your MacBook Pro, select that speaker and pair with it.
No, I paired my first Sonos speaker with my computer using bluetooth. Next, I created the stereo pair for the two Sonos speakers within the Sonos App. After doing that, BOTH Sonos speakers then worked with my computer using the bluetooth connection to the computer from speaker 1 of 2.
I was searching internet for this exact same set-up. Thanks for the informative video!! Leaving home now to buy two Sonos Era 100's. :)
No need to leave home. I linked them within this video’s description :)
@@IrixGuy Thank you, I just went to the store and bought it here in Australia. :)

Thanks! Your video helped me pair my NEW Sonos Era 100's :)
Woohoo! How do you love them so far? Have you added a Sub Mini to the pair or are you happy with the bass from just the two speakers? #Sonos
You can buy a connector to have them wired through 3.5 jack no wifi required at all ?
WiFi is required for the Sonos speaker pair to function but I do connect them to my MacBook Pro using the Sonos 3.5mm cable instead of Bluetooth.

I replaced KEF LSX II with these. KEF obviously had amazing midrange and clarity, but it needs a sub
Did you add the Sub Mini yet? These speakers have a moderate amount of bass but I may still add Sonos Sub Mini to complement the stereo pair.
Hi, can I connect one of the speakers by jack 3,5 mm to my projector and the other will draw sound from the speaker that is connected with jack?

They can be used solo or as a stereo pair. You could always buy one to start out then buy a second in the future for a stereo pair.

Do you have an issue with these constantly dropping bluetooth connection?
Not at all. Do you potentially have another bluetooth device nearby that may be trying to pair and disrupting the connection?
