Listening to Margaret Thatcher speak reminds of a time when I spoke clear crisp English. Her words resonate with me and strike a cord.
What happened though?. Sounds like you're no longer in that position. Undoubtedly her English is flawless, very elegant and clear just as expected from a native speaker of the language.
@@rthelionheart Not necessarily. One can be a native speaker of a language and still lack the discipline, training, and intelligence to speak said language with elegance, poise, and clarity. To speak any language with the mastery she displays requires a combination of factors, some of which I have outlined above, and others which very few people possess.
@@learnerm3120 you may be right about that now that I think about it. Plenty of native speakers who lack the necessary skills and attitude to be all that fluent and equally elegant while talking.
«We place our faith not so much in economic theory but in the resourcefulness and the decency of ordinary people» (Mrs Thatcher in her speech). These are the key words to understand this great woman and statesman. Remember, resemble, persevere.
There's certainly a touch of nostalgia for some of us. But Reagan ditched the economic theory of balancing the budget, which was disingenuous, whatever one thinks of the personalities involved.
Gotta love how this channel shows the improvement of clearer imagery in filming videos throughout the 1980s. Compare this to Reagan's farewell address.
Good observation. Yes, there is quite a variation in the video quality from 1981 to 1989. The White House used three different formats for those 8 years. Starting with 16mm color motion picture film, then 3/4" Umatic and ending with Betacam videotape. President Reagan's was the first White House Administration that had such an extensive video coverage.
@@RonaldReaganLibrary In my opinion, 16mm film has the best quality, although it is very expensive, but in return if well preserved, we can get quality up to 4K.

Reagan did the same thing when the Chancellor of W. Germany. He put his hand in his heart when they played the German National Anthem. Absolute class.

This ceremony took place about a month before President Reagan was shot. In subsequent welcoming ceremonies, he no longer took part in reviewing the troops with foreign leaders and was less exposed in general during the proceedings.

They hate those that think differently, that look at the world differently, that see different paths to success. Margaret Thatcher didn't hate poor people she hoped for better for them, tried to bring about the circumstanes to promote that opportunity and through that she hoped for better from them.
She gave them opportunities, and thankfully many took them. It's why she destroyed the hard left and forced Kinnock to expunge them from the Labour party. It's why Derek Hatton and Arthur Scargill are footnotes in her biography. It's why when she passed away all the left had to offer was whistles and boos.
