This all started as a crash on I-20 EB just before I-49 NB. A semi-truck carrying small tires was traveling EB and collided with a Dodge Ram pickup. The semi-truck caught fire and the cab was fully involved in minutes. Several fire crews noticed heavy black smoke from their stations and called into dispatched to report the incident. Several Shreveport Fire Department units responded and called for more man power. A water supply had to be established and a supply line was laid down the Linwood Avenue entrance ramp to I-20 EB and down the interstate. Crews also requested the ARFF "Charlie" or "Crash" truck from Shreveport Regional Airport to respond and help fight the fire. The fire was under control within an a few hours. Interstate traffic was shut down in both directions and was completely opened back with 6 hours. No fatalities or major injuries were reported.

Airport fire truck took 3 seconds to put suppressant on the fire after coming to a stop. They don't mess around.

My Father worked for SFD for 33 years. I remember as a kid going to #10 and playing on the AL Pioneer. Back when all the apparatus were white. Every time I hear a Federal Q, it brings back so many good memories. Wonderful video and photos of the SFD.

That was neat seeing the airport ARFF truck there to help out. Those Oshkosh trucks are beautiful.

That was only because none of the departments had a foam unit to respond

Why do I have a feeling that the Dodge owner is at fault. I wouldn’t be surprised since the majority of them are “A” holes on the road.

Big Red. I don't think it looked like they lost an engine I think the foam from the airport truck was on it and they were washing it off

Knowing where that part of I-20 because I travel it every day, I can’t think of a plug they could have got to lay a supply supply line in so all they had were their booster lines and the Airport being a couple miles down the interstate, that’s probably why they called in the AARF truck.
