Hey Rummates, in today's video we need to talk about Ginny & Georgia and unpack what went on this season....because....wow. Be sure to let me know what you thought of the show in the comments below!

Yup! She wouldve been one of those girls who only has flags in her bio lmfao
âMANGâ is like the worst friend group Iâve ever seen they donât understand each other and they just donât talk about their real problems like they just canât communicate with each other
ginny needs to cut off the group except Maxine if she ever forgives ginny
Exactly and the way they treat each other even when its joking is toxic. The most I ever say/call my friends is bitch..
Because... theyâre high schoolers
OMG that one time when they were confronting each other and then just like ignored their problems and laughed it off like no wonder their friend group ended as quick as it started đ

I was so angry in that one episode where Ginny told her friends about Georgiaâs guns...and then laughed after Cynthia used it against her mom
You're literally the first person to talk about this. Thank you I was so damn pissed I mean-
The fact that she was basically gossiping about it with her friends weirded me out so much. Throughout the season, she was constantly uncovering her mother's secrets and acting on the knowledge without actually taking to time to learn WHY her mother was keeping those secrets. Her mother never mails Austin's letters to his FELON father, has a jacket from a biker gang and owns multiple guns, and all Ginny does is complain that these secrets affect her, gossiping about it with friends without really bothering to look for what the secrets are or why they're secret in the first place.
Fr she is always asking her mom not show up so she doesnât get the attention âdrawn to herâ but then proceeds to tell them about how her mom has a gun and pulled out on her. She says how much she hates her mom and how she would rather âdieâ then become her mom when sheâs becoming worse than her mom when she lies for no absolute reason. While her mom lies for Ginnys Safety and her mental health
Honestly that shit pissed me off so much like also why would you be gossiping about shit like that?? Idk about anyone else but if some random ass bitch started talking about her mom owning a gun I would avoid them like the plague like ofc Norah was gonna tell her mom
I'm sorry I agree with this but which ep did Cynthia use it?
I just wanna know why MANG still existed after they let that girl get in trouble for shoplifting and then tried to blame her
& then she slapped her......

The dynamics were a fucking mess. Like whyyy stay after that
I woulda had to throw hands.
Period me too, and they never even said a sincere sorry and made it up to her. Just bought her make up and acted like it's all good But should've even confessed to the mom

I hate the part where all the non black ppl stopped being friends with her so she came to the black table and they made it seem like she didnât fit in with the black kids but they were talking about senior things and she was a sophomore so of course she wonât really understand đ
She rlly should've sat alone. U weren't interested before but now that ur on ur own, u wanna go running to the black ppl? Netflix rlly made it seem like she couldn't be in more than one friendship group
@@destinyellis2408 EXACTLY
I actually think that was a nice touch because she joins the 'black' table as if it's that easy to find a place to belong, but it would have been reductive to the black characters, reducing them to their skin color as if that's their entire identity. Showing they have interests different from her own, including different plans for their futures, really shows how small and limiting Ginny's desperation to fit in in high school is. She doesn't actually have a clue of what her interests are or what she wants to do in the future, but she resents her mom for not pushing her to take extracurriculors because that just what all her friends have been doing. It's about fitting in, not about having her own life.
Literally! Like the Black characters were literally just meant to be Black. Iâm mixed and it in no way represents any interactions Iâve had with Black people. Honestly so tokenizing.
@@marielaberge8236 I mean I guess but I think they put it in to make an example of the reason why she says, â Iâm too black for the white kids and Iâm too white for the black kidsâ even though that wasnât the case....
When I saw the black characters I thought they werenât gonna accept Ginny and that would be the narrative, but Ginny literally blew them all off when they were being so welcoming then complained she wasnât accepted with black kids
Right that was so confusing
She complains about not being accepted or understood because she doesnât typically connect with black culture and leans the other way, I think she felt intimidated. I think sheâs the type of person that wouldâve gone with them had they pushed as hard as max did and been the only people that did so
@Caitlyn Wiafe honestly đ
Yep. Ginny is very unlikeable. I hope they fix that. I have mixed race heritage and my ass liked her crazy ass Mama more.
@Caitlyn Wiafe thatâs what happens when you only have a white parent in your life smh itâs very crucial to have both parents in your life especially if you two different races cuz each race has a different experience and that parent should help their child understand that

@@eunowhowitis3547 haha, maybe that's not what you're thinking but there are definitely people who have said things of that sort. mostly, it's if the conversation is started. like, if someone mentions politics and an entire debate begins. that's how it usually happens. however, as for ginny, she rarely spoke to black people and her friends were never especially rude about her race, though they were ignorant.

Ginny felt like a token POC character. In a show abt a POC....
I see no lie
That was really her entire personality. Just a token.
definitely but i think that might have been the point. She kept her distance from the black girls on purpose i think
@@dollylove9311 but WHY when the Black characters were actually nice to her???
@@AMCW90 Because "biracial"
I freaked out when I saw the first episode and Ginny and Marcus don't know each other and had straight out of nowhere sex with each other. Like wtf a strange guy came through your window and you gonna sleep with him???
Yes that was crazy.
This show was just bizarre and contradictory she hated her mom but even her mom wouldnât have done that
@@sashav.3189 Yet she wanted to be her mother so bad. I'm like girlfriend pick a struggle and stick with it
Tbh I think Ginny was very ungrateful for everything her mum had ever done for her and never seen things from her mums perspective she was just too obsessed with herself and her own problems.
Yes exactly. Like when we see Georgia when she was a teenager, she literally did everything she could to keep Ginny and then in the last episode Ginny just runs away?? Georgia did everything she could to protect Ginny and Ginny was only caught up in her own problems. Same with when Abby talked about her parents divorce and that no one was there for her. Ginny literally told her âIâve had my own family problems tooâ like that is not what you say to someone when theyâre upset-
her mom is a literal murderer but shes supposed to be ok with that?Keep in mind that we as the audience knows more about georgia than ginny, her own daughter does. There is to much unessceary hate on ginny and not enough holding georgia accountable for her actions. Im sure you wouldnt be all giddy and happy if you found out your mother killed your stepfather from a stranger.
@@olannaiwu1252 not that Iâm justifying murder but Iâm pretty sure ginnys âstepfatherâ was eyeing her up and tried to grab her waist when she was exercising not saying it warrants murder but Iâm sure her mother was just trying to do what she thought what was best for her children and not out of a whim. Again not condoning murder just saying.
@@Daraling1 No i get what your saying,i saw that too but there was so many other ways to deal with it then murder. Geogias an impulsive thinker, i think we can all agree, and ginny knows nothing about her. With all thats going on in her life and all these secrets abt her mum thats being revealed im not shocked she reacted the way she did.
Righht, when she was with her father and called her mom "crazy" right after her mother told her how she was molested and abused when she younger is something subtle that stuck with me
Ginny's only character traits are being mixed and having a hard childhood before they got there
And liking literature, being smart and insecure, craving stability and wanting to fit it. Also she speaks Korean and is able to ride motorcycles because of her dad. She loves her dad and adores her little brother. Her relationship with her mother is problematic due to her mother being very self absorbed and toxic in many cases.
She had a lot of character actually.
Youâre completely right
I feel like these teen shows should get actual normal gen z teens as consultants to give them insight on how we actually are so the shows dont scream millennial
They must not know any actual teenagers.
Yeah I agree but! They have to be 18 or older, other wise many topics and scenes wouldnât have been able to be done due to being a minor.
Iâm an old, granted. But itâs a real rite of passage to watch your generation be misrepresented on tv.
Thatâs exactly what Skins did, and they hired new ones every âgenerationâ (every 2 seasons when the cast changed to the next class)
@@JC-yy8iv What the hell kind of teens were they getting input from cause Skins followed a bunch of wild ass basket cases for 6 series đ? Teen dramas are always so damn out there, overdoing the teen experience everytime when MOST of us were not wilding out like that. Comedic shows and movies capture actual teens better than any drama show ever has. Indies also tend to do a good job.
the way hunter gets so much hate and didn't do anything to deserve it. yeah he was a little cringy, but he treated ginny with respect and she cheated on him. but no one talks about that
I thought he was really sweet to Ginny. Other than his cringiness and 0 personality he was fine. Marcus also had no personality and was kind of creepy. Both dudes were just off.
Hunter was such a darling, yes he was cringey but they did him wrong. Ginny was just an immature b*tch that wasn't ready for what he had to offer.
Hunter was my favorite character
YES!!! i started watching the show bc of the hunter memes but after watching him, i actually did find him charming at some point every ep,,, and tbh boys his age do the same cringe shit he did (if not more đ)
I agree. Why can't that just be his flaw? Every teenage character on this show is annoying. But Hunter being Hunter is not nearly as bad as Ginny being annoying, Max being self absorbed and dramatic, Abby being mean and Norah being fake. And Marcus being a twilight wannabe. Hunter and Bracia were the best two.
Ok so we're just not going to talk about how Ginny never locked her window??? Like girl Marcus isn't the only creep that can climb thru a window... Also poor Joe he deserved better
Somehow i both disliked most of the characters and still really liked the show loll
I totally see what you mean about her only talking to black characters for character development tho, yikes đŹ
people forget that you donât have to like a characters in a show to like it. sometimes those characters are meant to be frowned upon or not liked
same i couldnt stop watching and i loved the show but the literal only characters i liked were joe and ellen
I feel the same way abt Riverdale. The characters aren't exactly the most well written because of the absurdity of the writers, but the actors and production make it entertaining.
I mean I love Euphoria but most of the teenagers get on my nerves so I get it
Ginny-ungrateful and only personally is being mixed.
Georgia-sheâs my queenâ€ïžlove herđ
Max-annoying but cared for Ginny.
Marcus-weird...
Joe-loved him and Georgia and he is underratedâ€ïž
Ellen-loved her but she never knew what was going onđ
Absolutely đđđ!!
It only took me a few minutes to realize the black characters were meant to be Ginny's fairy godmothers-
Iâm mad at ginny for dismissing the black girl in the beginning for being her friends but constantly complaining to her friends and boyfriend how hard itâs to be mixed with black. Like girl, you choose to be friends with white peoples, what do you expect. You wouldnât be dealing with this if you had black friends. Her friends stay saying stereotypes/racist thing to her but she ignored it.
@@SierraSl facts!!
@@SierraSl right đ
@@SierraSl tbh being mixed you get shit from both sides. the things my black friends said to me might've been different in content than the things my white friends said to me but the feeling they gave me, a v clear "you're not _really_ like us," was exactly the same

Ginny actively choose not to be friends with the black girls đđ

I couldn't stand ginny the entire show. She's self centered and SO disrespectful to Georgia
Litterally I was so confused when they came over to her house to "hang out" afterwards. And they only did that to make max jealous
I think she still tried to fit it in bc she has never had friends before and max was the first person who was nice to her when she came to the new school. Ginny doesnât really know how friendships are supposed to be but she doesnât want to be lonely again, so she tries to fit in
â@@mytb1420 If you grew up with a self absorbed very toxic mother, a dad that keeps leaving, always have a new parent and keep moving you'd have problems too. Nothing was stable for her. Her life is always changing and she's constantly hurting. The system sucks but I wonder if it would have been better for Ginny and Austin to land there instead with an abusive mother.
@@ducklingscap897 sorry but how is Georgia toxic and abusive? Serious question especially in terms with her kids. Sheâs not self absorbed with herself as 90% of what sheâs done and endured are for her kids to have a better life she never physically assaulted them until Ginny said some shit and she hadnât talked to them is a disgusting condescending manner until Ginny again said some rude shit and was doing foolishness. Ginny was given a silver spoon and a mother that supported her with everything and instead of being a little grateful she misused her and blamed everything bad thing in the world on her. Ginnys only issue is not begin able to stay in one town for the rest of her life as they keep moving as well as her social skills and friends otherwise her life was stable. And next thing she is okay with her dad living with them and wanting to live with her mom but tells him that she is in the happiest stage of her life and so he shouldnât ruin it but blames her mom after her dad chooses to leave. @@exbeautyqueen At the end when they were all at the coffee shop and they were apologizing for being such bad friends...
Lets be honest though, we all know that Georgia and Joe are gonna hook up in season 2 if there is one
I kinda want her and Zion tho
I saw this yesterday and I had a bad day today so I came back to it for the giggles. The accuracy when describing the cringey parts is impeccable.
"imma talk my good shit" this is my new motto
Honestly, as Rumi should. Some of these entitled ass people (haters) would criticize every little thing in a video even though the content creator execute their videoâs with facts and opinionsđđŻ

as a sophomore in college, it is so weird to know that there are people older than me acting as high schoolers on so many tv shows
Well thats for legal reason would you like to see minors overworked
Also people donât like to see minors do stuff that actually minors do televised for everyone
Exactly I was surprised by the actress age who played Ginny, Sheâs 23 in real life and looks like a 15 yr old lol
Same! Gave me flash backs lowkey đ
yh its because although lots of teens have illegal sex but when filming shows they cant actually shoot those kinds of scenes with teens so it takes away from the storylines sometimes ig
@@himanshisobti6937 stfu, they just said they find it weird.... u jumping to all these conclusions
I actually liked that they castes people in the age close to around 20. Instead of what they normally cast, they cast people over the ages of 27 to play teens, which is kind of creepy
the scene where marcus catches ginny s***harming and he id literally worried about her and she just starts yelling at him for no reason really made me mad
Thatâs how people who are struggling work... they get defensive
.... he literally broke into her room without warning. And it makes sense she acted that way, she was seen in a really vulnerable position and was hurting it makes sense she would lash out
Itâs like 13rw and Riverdale mixed together with a dash of On My Block
I see that
this is completely right
Best way to put it đ
Like Netflix is literally just recycling plot over and over, whats up with thatđ§đŒ
okay but omb is so goodđ©even tho itâs literally riverdale but its not white kids and its abt gangs
Abby ANNOYS me to my wits end...but she is actually the most relatable teenager character. I think the writers had a bit of a far fetched idea of what its like to be a teenager today
We don't just talk about sex and social media all the time like we ain't that shallow
@@rosiejones9716 one hundred percent. Its like they forgot what its like to be a teenager.
i loved her, haha
@@rosiejones9716 but there was also that one scene that was never brought up or talked about again when Abby taped her thighs to make them smaller. I think that being insecure and doing things like that can be relatable amongst many teens today and the writers should have shown more of that. But I do agree with what you said.
she was annoying and fake but like she somehow ended up my favorite
"clickity-clack your way to class, don't do that in the hallway" had me dying đđđ
Everyone always hates on Ginny but that girl is constantly going through it. She is constantly being forced to move around, has a revolving door of father figures in her life and just generally no stability. Of course she'd be angry at her mother for not keeping her promises and continuing the cycle which is quite frankly, causing both Ginny and Austin trauma. There were definitely times when Ginny was bratty, especially after she found out her mother was molested and still was pissed she couldn't meet her grandparents. But at the end of the day, her anger was a trauma response
I don't understand how all hate on Ginny for acting like a normal teenager and being rude to her mother while Georgia is completely failing as a parent and never thinks about Austins or Ginnys feelings. She is completely trampling over them and being toxic and they think that's ok. Why?
I only watched for Georgia and Joe, I had to skip through all the highschool scenes the second-hand embarrassment
And Zion. And the rest of the adults
The flashbacks were cool but then they started boring me at the end.
Same the adults were so much interesting
when max made everything about herself.... when ginny mailed those letters... when ginny cheated on hunter... when hunter says literally anything... when abby blamed ginny for the stealing... norahs just boring... when marcus does that hand salut thing...
Norah didnât get screen time to even be called boring
@@zaylaaaaaa exactly, she was very underrated .. i literally had to watch it TWICE to know her name .
I KNOW WHATS UP WITH THE SALUT THING I WOULD JUST LIGHT MYSELF WITH LIGHTER FUELđ€ź
The fact that Ginny literally is so stupid and fails to understand that Georgia didnât send those letters to a man in jail for a valid reason,
Not just for the sake of it. Like Ginny... sheâs trying to protect your brother, are you dense
Is it just me or was Max REALLY ANNOYING. That little thing she does with her lips infuriated me. Also, the way she talked and how cringe she was when she was dating that senior girl.
What a thoughtful analysis! Really love your work!
I hardly went up to ep. 3 and was like âremove from rowâ
I think Bracia was only there for character development like that was the entire point of her character being there. to show how she only ever embraced one side.
Yea and I'm a bit uncomfortable how these people in the comments are being real violent against Ginny when literally her best friend was *just* as rude to her mama. The peanut gallery got the vim for biracial Afro-ethnic Ginny but none for Marcus and his twin? All these teens were rude to their parents đ€ą but they extra mad at Ginny.
Meanwhile some of these folks let their kids call them by their first name and yell at them in public. But Ginny is the problem. Mkay đ€š mind your children Karen. Mind your children b
@@israeliana so true I noticed that as well
Exactly, they kept trying to push the whole â I donât fit in with black people narrative â when Ginny litteraly choose to hang out with her racist while friends instead of Bracia. Ginny entitled to be friends with who she wanteds , but donât say you âdonât fit in with black kidsâ when never even tried to talk to them .
@@israeliana I hate them all đ©

I feel like Georgia character unraveled and i thought that was most interesting to watch. Although her persona was constantly unraveling she was still was winning in her own way, within her story line
That season finale was epic! I had so many problems with the show but the way it ended intrigued me for S2!
About the lack of growth in Georgia's character, I actually realized at one point that Georgia was undergoing a transformation similar to Ginny in her physical appearance. In the first episode, Georgia's got big hair, shorts and fun top, her look is a lot more carefree. While Ginny's look wasn't anything like that (dark shapeless long-sleeved shirts, natural hair), by the end of the season, both of them had begun changing their appearance to fit in with the white upper middle-class town they'd joined. Ginny's transformation is a lot more obvious because it is compounded by the issue of race and also tied to her difficult relationship with her own mother, so Georgia's transformation seems insignificant in comparison, especially knowing that's a pattern of hers. But they were undergoing similar journeys, it's just that Georgia, unlike Ginny, is either empowered by the transformation or (more likely, considering the impact that lifestyle has on her family) doesn't realize the harm it does to her sense of self, unlike Ginny who realizes it, changes back, and gets out of that toxic environment. And as mad as I am for Ginny running away like that, I can't look at it only as the culmination of her own journey. It's also there to show how Georgia's coping mechanism is unhealthy, harming her AND her family.
I literally got second hand embarrassment during that tap dance scene đđđ
if a guy or anyone did that to me, i would be like đ§
@@angeieticals3059 đ„žđđ„đ„ž
best character is georgia, shes by far the most well written
Yeah I just didn't like that she was obviously a self absorbed, toxic and sometimes even abusive parent and the show tried to make her look good. Romanticizing that is just fucked up.
@@ducklingscap897 I donât agree, she tried her absolute best. Can you explain to me how she was toxic? Iâve seen you on a lot of
Videos glorifying Ginny and hating Georgia so I just want your viewpoint
@@ducklingscap897 explanation?
Idk why is everyone supporting a psychopath and serial killer. Yes, the husband was a pedo and assaulted Ginny but Georgia could have DIVORCED or called the police instead of killing him. It makes Georgia just as bad as Kenny. She is still money laundering and taking advantage of new people to get money. This isn't game of thrones so she has no reason to do this in the 21st century. She is a bad mom. Austin stabbed a kid and Ginny turned out to be a cheating liar just like Georgia. She and Ginny are toxic to each other and to other people.
After all this, I strongly dislike Georgia more than Ginny. I hope Georgia ends up in prison for all her crimes because I can't find a reason to root for her by the end of the season 1.
@@whatagirthypooyouvetaken5825 For starters, she killed a man, and then proceeded to joke about it?

There should be boundaries between parents and children. Georgiaâs abuse was none of Ginnyâs business. Furthermore Ginny is entitled.
But itâs very reasonable that Ginny was upset she was lied to her entire life abt her family not existed
@@selenadawnwilson1534 those people are not her family. They could careless about her. Her mother showing her time and time again that blood does not make family.
Agreed. But ginny broke Georgia down.
@@selenadawnwilson1534 you think its easy to open up about trauma? Omg she was literally molested by her father and was abused by her family, shit like that isnt easy and you can tell throughout the show it wasnt for her
Nah. Itâs okay for parents to tell kids about their trauma especially when the kid wants answered. Georgia kept it from Ginny for years until she started questioning it.
I was more invested into Georgia's storyline and her past then anything having to do with Ginny and the fakest friends ever, MANG. Georgia was the only reason why I continued to watch. Well, her, Joe, and Ellen mostly.
Austin is iconic. This kid likes Harry Potter I already love him
