    I'm sure in your research you found the Banks diff cover testing? Being an engineer, his testing and theory appears sound. Although Gale reviews the "flat back" covers. The Yukon appears a little more rounded. I didn't realize the diff fluid temperature increased as much as he showed. I decided to keep the stock cover as I don't do any rough off-roading. I'm not complaining or criticising!! I love your videos, thought process and your quality work!

    I use the Eaatwood products on my trucks, and I really like them. Helps that they're headquartered just down state from me here in PA.
    This is the kind of detail to work I like seeing. This truck's going to be really well dialed in when it's finished and it's going to be a fully usable daily rig. Everyone thinks this kind of work is reserved for "show trucks," but it's not.

      Yep, it takes a lot of times doing things to this level. It's different than what I'm used to but it's fun in it's own sense.

    Nice work. The Torq big brake setup adds track width to the front with the rotor outside on the hub vs inside with stock setup. Sure makes brake work easier, inboard brakes are a pain. What rear axle did you use? 2nd gen SRW axle is around 4" wider, WMS to WMS, than 1st gen unless you get one from a cab & chassis then they're about the same as first gen. Curious to see what you're doing with wheels and tires. Can't wait for the next episode!

      @@decentgarage I did the 17” brackets for the step side truck, but I used the 16” brackets with 13” rotors on my military truck with hydro boost it turned out working so nice thank you so much for all your videos it helps to see what works on these old trucks and what others are doing thanks David

    Great work but shaving that knurling down on the lug studs is no bueno. Dorman catalog would’ve provided the proper knurling diameter studs for your application. Been there done that when I converted my studs.

    Hello I been watching your you’re videos since you started your channel
    I’m working on a 85 dodge crew cab conversion
    I would like to swap my rea axle like you did
    Mi question is the new axle is it going to be the same width from the front on the truck
    Because I do have one from a 2001 3/4 ton dodge Ram and it looks or appears to be wider than that original it is on the truck
    Or do I need one from a 2002 ?
    Keep up the good work 👌

    • @decentgarage
      @decentgarage  Před 5 měsíci

      The width is almost identical. If it's a Dana 70 it should be identical except the spring perches

      I put a 2nd gen dana 80 under my d250 and its about an inch wider on each side than the original. You could spacer the front out to make it run track in track if you wanted but I just left mine alone its barely noticeable.

    Hi, I've got a quick question, those Yukon Axle covers, does the drain plug come with a magnet on it, I live in the UK and I'm thinking of getting a rear diff cover for my mate, he has an 2008 Chevy Avalanche, he wants the drain plug to have a magnet, thanks for your time and keep up the great work.
