- Loud Impact ! Airspeed dropped causing a wing tip stall when power and control was suddenly lost due to unknown reasons. A very loud Bang ended the following vertical dive when this beautiful cargo model plane hit the ground.

We all feel the loss with clubmember Gottfried who designed and homebuilt this large scale masterpiece himself ! But he took the crash lightly and is already working on a new Rc Airbus A400M reusing the salvaged parts !

This gigantic XL diy military jet plane model is one of the largest biggest Rc warbird aircraft in our flying club.
Suddenly it lost airspeed , had a flameout engine failure and wingtip stall crash landing fail.
It is repaired by now flying nicely once again ! One of the fastest Rc plane repairs ever !

The pop noise after it hit the ground was a knife to the heart. Beautiful aircraft. My sympathizes to the owner.

I crashed a 2.5 metre sinbad copy over the summer and the wings and tail were fine. First 2/3 of the fuselage was crushed. But it flew again with a minor rebuild! 🤣

Thank You for sharing. Wings OK, Tail OK, plane will be OK again soon. Btw.: "2:30 Voll Querruder dagegen gegeben .." (Full opposite aileron given ..) Doesn't help in "Accelerated Stall" - on the contrary, it aggravates the situation. You only have one tiny chance with rudder and "nose down"... In such a situation you can only manage it if you have trained it (a lot). Schade um das Flugzeug. I hope you are feeling better too now. (sorry, but from what I see, I don't think it was a "glitch", you had no response because of the stall. But I could be wrong, I wasn't there)
Hello, yes, I agree. We are not sure what happened but the control surfaces seem to stay neutral and the plane slowed down quickly. Anyway Gottfried is fine and already repairing the plane ! Have a Good Day !

Bei einem Strömungsabriss kann und sollte man nicht mit dem Querruder entgegen steuern. Damit unterstützt man den Abriss nur noch. Richtig wäre gewesen, Seitenruder entgegen der Abkipprichtung. In jedem Fall zu langsam geflogen. Schöner Flieger, genug zu tun für den Winter :)
Ja, stimmt aber sie hat vorher schon nicht mehr reagiert auf Steuerbefehle ! Wieder viel basteln für Gottfried aber er macht das sehr gerne und arbeitet schon an neuen Ideen für einen besseren A400 ! Fliegergruß !
Schade drum, war ein tolles Modell! Tut mir leid für den Erbauer, als Modellflieger weiss ich um wieviel Stunden Arbeit und Gedanken es sich bei solch einem Eigenbau handelt.

What kind/MFG of radio and receiver were they using? Just got wayyy too slow, and with any bank angle the stall speed increases. The critical angle was way up there too. Sad!!
Hello, Futaba radio but cheap replica receiver ! It worked fine for many flights before ! We try to convince the owner to buy some original one ! Have a Good Day !

Das positive: Durch die anscheinend leichte Bauweise und den großen Luftwiderstand erscheinen Flächen und Heck weitgehend intakt.

Oh man wie schade so ein schönes Modell .
Die Einstellung super einfach locker genommen denn leider gehört so etwas mit zum Hobby .
Dennoch irgend was war komisch der Pilot (vermutlich) sagte kurz vor der harten Landung noch das irgend was nicht stimmt dann kippte sie kurz rechts weg um dann unmittelbar nach links abzutauchen mit der Nase voran , wie ein klassischer Strömungsabriss sah das nicht aus zumal sie nicht so langsam war und auch keine starke Neigung hatte bevor sie weggekippte .
Zum Glück ist sie nicht noch in Flammen aufgegangen und einige Bauteile/Elemente haben den Aufschlag recht gut überstanden so das sie vermutlich wieder verwendet werden können .
Wünsche dem Erbauer viel Glück beim reparieren
Guten Tag, ja stimmt, ich vermute, daß die 4 Propeller in Leerlauf gegangen sind und den Luftstrom am Flügel verwirbelt haben. Gottfried arbeitet schon guter Dinge an der Reperatur ! Fliegergruß !
Ouch, with the motors stopping like that it lost airspeed quick. I'm guessing it went into a 0% throttle failsafe? Shame as the model looked great.

Well, yes, thanks, the right side engines went to idle before it happened, pilot found some loose connectors. And he almost finished the rebuild ! Happy Landings !

Typicly stall - FULL AILERONS - yeah, selfmade crash ^^ - All rudders neutral - throttle up - fly again ^^
There were some technical issues like low power right side found some faulty connectors. Happy Landings !

Wow, very impressive build, and great flying before the stall. Do you have any idea why the stall was so bad? Do you think the CG needs to be more forward, or that this kind of unfriendly stall is inherent in the design of this type of airplane? Anyway, best wishes in rebuild/repair!

No, you need to dial in some differential on your ailerons. Only the aileron on the inside of the turn should move.

I'm saying that the outside aileron should move just a bit. Combined with exponential, it transforms our planes.
I lost two Nitro airplanes, due to a stall. Most people flying, there, RC planes, or referencing the ground, for their airspeed. They think that going at the proper speed especially into a turn, but they are not thinking about their wind coming from the tail forward, technically the airspeed has dropped. Without paying attention and realizing what is happening, the plane starts to stall while approaching or into a turn, and that is the end of their aircraft. One was first brought to my attention what actually took place I couldn't imagine I said I'm still flying at the same speed but technically I was not, because of the decrease, coming from the rear of the plane. Because of the ground reference you think you're flying at the regular speed.

IMO that was not a stall but more to do with the electronics inducing the stall. Keep repeating the incident where he goes into a shallow climbing left turn. The turn is initiated and almost immediately it pitches up and violently to the right. Unless this was pilot induced I rule out a stall.

That‘s common knowledge and not helpful, it did not look very slow, there must be some other effects that made it critical but where not known/understood by the pilot.
Looked like it was controlled into that dive but not by you. The signal may have took a hit.

Echt traurig und herzzerreißend. Als der Kollege gesagt hat "gib Gas", hat der Flieger das Gas angenommen. Ist meiner Ansicht nach zu hören. Also Verlust durch unterbrochenen Funkkontakt schließe ich aus. TipTop, dass der Wideraufbau im Gange ist. Allerdings würde ich das Profil der Flächen auf alle Fälle Überdenken.

information. this is what a servo glitch crash looks like.!!! flying along, then wham; servos go to max travel. it may be that the several motors and props were making more vibration than servos would tolerate.!!!
this is why, if a model has an engine, servos MUST BE installed with screws and GROMMETS.

Von den großen mehr motorigen Nachbauten gibts viele Crash-Videos. Immer ein Jammer. Nicht selten auch mit Verbrennerantrieb/Turbine. Mir fällt da sofort ein Bericht über die Reynoldszahl ein den ich las, in dem intensiv davor gewarnt wird die manntragenden Profile zu verwenden, da sie nicht in den niedrigen Reynoldszaheln-Bereich der Modellflugzeuge funktionieren. Aber daneben gibt es sicherlich auch noch reihenweise technische Probleme soetwas adäquat mit Energie an allen Enden zu versorgen. Wie schade!

A pass at just over approach speed and then expect to climb without increasing power?! Bizarre. There was even a slight departure to the left but still no power increase. And then it really departed. Take up knitting is my advice.

Klassischer Strömungsabriss.
Ja, es wurden aber defekte Kabelstecker für die rechten Motoren gefunden, diese fielen aus und das Modell wurde zu langsam und die linken Motoren haben dann das Abkippen begünstigt. Allzeit gute Landung !
