What about:
a small device that sits on the TV stand or the TV itself. It has an LED on it that flashes when you have an alert. Through either a multi-color LED, or separate LEDs, you can have different colors (and/or patterns) for each type of alert you’d want, like new sub or chat.
I think it should be incredibly simple, but would need to connect to your PC wirelessly to ensure it works for every use case. (My nickname for him is Albert: Alert Box->AB->Albert 🤭)
I too had an idea for a small, barebones display, much like your frankenprompter. Something only to display chat that was the size of an iPad Mini. It’s hard to compete with the price of a cheap portable monitor that can do more, but I see maybe as part of a system in some way.
I have a prototype of a “stand” that “attaches” to any couch. It gives the couch a solid spot for a keyboard/mouse or laptop, Stream Deck or other controller like them (I have a neat way of making this part universal, AND, we don’t have to wait for elgato to put mounting points on their SD lmao).
Straight up, I don’t have the resources to make Albert. I am learning how to draw my ideas. I am slowly acquiring soldering equipment. I have a teeny amount of experience with writing code but for this I will lean on the masters of OBS.
Albert has applications outside of streaming, too. Make it cool looking, inexpensive, cute asf, and different colors. It could offer simple visual alerts for literally anything it can connect to, like your phone.
I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with dust issues :)
