Most of the features seem to be missing, Standalone, SteamVR faceplate, Eye-Tracking, Other faceplates) how does Pimax expect good reviews from reviewers, testers, and eventually the general consumer base?
29:45 - Let alone currently justify the price with so much presently missing?
They better include 2 battery otherwise battery gets bad after 1 or 2 years. I wonder why they start charging tax? Thats another $130 extra
So unfortunate this still isn't showing standalone. Won't be selling my quest 2 until I see either pimax or similar running standalone as well or better.☹
@@moogleslam the standalone functionality won't be available until several months after people start receiving the headsets. We announced this information very early on. there were never any plans or announcements that indicated otherwise. It was always planned to be added after sales start, not before.
@@WhatsupAbroad He is correct! Stop trolling!
Great to finally see a review of the Crystal! Thank you! Regarding the battery issue, I remember that they talked about that on the road show last year and said that the final cable isn't finished yet and therefor they need the power from the batteries. I hope that's still the case! If not, then at least I hope the WiGig module will be as good as promised, and then it doesn't matter what the cable does or doesn't imo.
You have no idea how hard I've been trying to fins out if there is a built in battery that allows hot swapping! I've asked in all the interviews and forums but never got an answer. Sometimes I hear them saying swappable and sometimes hot swappable, making me feel that no one seems to understand the difference, so that's really good news about the batteries!
Personally I don't care about the weight and such. All I want is an Varjo Aero with better FOV, better blacks, better game combability and wireless! That's the Crystal! And the standalone feature is a nice bonus as well!
you forgot to add "and I want to have to carry a small car on my head while gaming!" (no seriously... your chiropractor will love you, and if you don't have one, you better start looking for a good one, plenty of not so great ones out there)
@@joelperry2834 my current hmd with heavy headphones is around the same weight. I have zero issues. If someone gets neck issues from that kind of weight, they probably need to hit the gym more often and strengthen their muscles around the neck and back. Personally I take care of my physical health, so that's not a problem for me. Anyhow, it's more about the balance than the weight itself. How do you think people can wear heavy motorbike helmets all day?
Good review. Thorough for what you had.
Man your English has gotten so much better! Thanks for the review.
Thank you so much!
Great review. Telling us what is not working is very instructive and good information. No eye tracking. No Auto IPD. No stand alone. No lighthouse. Pimax did originally say that when we get the "Crystal Cable" we won't need to use the battery in PC mode. Please ask Pimax if that is still the plan. Thanks.
@@WhatsupAbroad Thanks, but you did say that Lighthouse would be available at launch. Is it going to be? If not, when will Lighthouse be available to buy?
@@jodyschultz5870 The Lighthouse Faceplate should be functional at this point. I believe it will release at or very soon after launch. We already had working units at CES. The MR Faceplate however will take time.
@@WhatsupAbroad Thank you for the reply. Last we discussed launch dates back in Nov/Dec of last year you told me Crystal would launch in March. That estimate was a lot more realistic than other Pimax estimates of Jan 22 which was just silly and I called it out as such. Now Pimax is saying Crystal launch "should be in early April" What month do you think Lighthouse will start shipping? The problem with the word "Soon" is it's very ambiguous. It can mean 3days or 3 weeks or 3 months or more.
@@jodyschultz5870 We are testing our production lines this month.
@@WhatsupAbroad Thank you Sir. "I am not sure" is always an excellent and honest answer that I respect.
So this headset is better than the Varjo Areo in terms of FOV and Black levels with the local dimming 😃, can’t wait to get my hands on this.
I'm happy to know that you find the headset appealing.
@@WhatsupAbroad You both are paid trolls!

@Joshua Son- Pimax Respectfully, I don't know what you're the director of. Communication has broken down at all levels from Pimax to creators, testers, customers, and even between your own engineers. Please try and fix this, starting with a public explanation as to why this review and Chinese testers both show a maximum FOV of 103 X 103 on their respective models.
great
Thank you for this early review. You answered many questions I had.
The displays and lenses are the positive thing here. They should make an other headset ... without Standalone, without controllers, just lighthouse, no swappable lenses, no batteries....so less tech inside, lighter, cheaper. They should make it smaller (they admitted that they just use the same case for different headsets so the production is cheaper, but they could make it smaller)
A small light Lighthouse vr headset with the crystal lenses and displays for let's say $800 without eye tracking or $1200 with eye tracking and auto ipd adjustment.
It's not like they hesitate to make more and more headsets ^^
If you want stripped down PCVR the upcoming Bigscreen headset is the way to go.
@@joshuadadad5414 That headset is very interesting, but the smaller FOV is putting me off
Great review, looking forward to getting one.
Thank you Thomas for that early preview/review of the Crystal that so many of us wanted! I am really looking forward to the release of this headset (when its full feature set is ready). My only potential con is comfort. I use VR for media consumption a lot and use my Pico 4 for long sessions. Hope the display is worth the weight!
Great review Thomas. Thank you.
That's a very thorough review of what was functional at this time. Thanks.
This FOV seems quite a bit lower than Pimax promised. I was expecting a nice little buff from my Index, not a nerf
everybody experiences different FOV...
@@voodoodevr-en Pimax always exagerate and lie about their products.
Thanks for doing the review early.
Thank God I waited for this review. Software will be patched so not a problem. Its going to be either this pimax 12k or Deckard for me.
Yeah
Happy to hear you are still with us for now.
@@WhatsupAbroad I hope your pimax 12k gets released soon. Any word on that? I want that headset so bad..has everything I need
The Index is so much smaller than the Pimax Crystal yet it has a wider field of view, Pimax really need to work on the form factor of its headsets.
I agree. Maybe one day if they able to match the headset size to be like Index in a way, but still deliver all the sweetness in the form factor wuld be nice.. Plus if they can make it not as heavy either.
Good review. Hopefully the sound gets improved to Index quality and standalone gets enabled soon. I wish the FOV was a little higher
Amazing feed-back 😍😍😍
Thank you Very much ,I have a Friend who has a pre-order à Crystal ,and He’s Very impatient to received 😊Pimax Crystal 😍😍

Great review 👍
Great VR headset, pimax is innovating while companies like HTC, HP and meta still stuck in last gen with weak sauce FOV and displays. They also continue milking customers with small weak sauce updates at every release, milking customers out of their money. Sux to be a HTC vive, Hp reverb, varjo or meta customer.
True but tbh we have to deal with the worst transparency and beta products in the market. Still worth it if you have the dough
Bro the average consumer does t care about these giant headsets. Alteast meta is trying to make them smaller and lighter for comfort. This thing is double a quest 2. Nah man that shits garbage.
@@GameJunky513 Shaddup
@@GameJunky513 meta ah carambia still stuck in last gen like a black and white tv.
A headset battery that drains no matter what you do and a 3 hour controller use. I fail to see how this is a upgrade.
Man this looks awesome, I think it will be about $3000 in Australia though lol
VR is my life, and guess what i cant afford them 🤪🤪
Good product, i will buy it.
Try connecting your headset to a USB 3.1 port instead of 3.0
3.0 doesn't provide enough power but 3.1 does.
Looks very very heavy. Aero owner here - worth updating? Seems like lens no but FOV is bigger. Worth it? I know at the end you pick crystal but what about comfort as aero is do comfortable and this thing looks like a tank
Im thinking the same as a Aero owner is it worth selling my Aero and getting a Crystal...not sure
I had the Aero and returned it do to a terrible Mura (sp?) effect, just like the PSVR2. Once you see it, you can't unsee it and it drove me crazy. Made the image look terrible IMO. The crystal apparently doesn't have that problem so definitely would be worth an upgrade if the mura bothers you.
@@justaguydoinstuff yea the mura on the psvr2 is terrible i hate it on mine, cant wait to get my crystal test unit.. i only hope the warping is less then the varjo vr3 that i had(i returned it because off that)
So I have an aero AND a PSVR2. The Mura is insane on the PSVR2. All over place. Aero? it’s the clearest, no screen door effect/mura at all. It’s insane. Not sure what others are talking about as it relates to aero. PSVR2. Yes. Aero No. And it’s 60% lighter than crystal based on this review. I’m going to cancel my crystal and pick it up later on if it’s worth it. I have big screen ordered too.
@@delt35 I've seen videos of the PSVR2 mura and that's exactly what I saw in the Aero. I don't know how anyone can't see it, but it was the reason I returned the Aero. Plus the color Red was way more 3D than other colors which was really weird and annoying.
battery dependency while tethered is a major mistake. Not just a nuisance now but more so in the future when they deplete and need to swap more, and then trying to get a new one in the future might not be possible, then you can't use it. They need to sort this or provide a steam VR version without battery and chip
Nah, i'm sure Pimax are well happy with the 'planned obsolescence' built into their devices....... guarantees future sales.
I really like that big forehead area face gasket for extra comfort
Thanks for the review Thomas.
I still would go with the Aero because of production quality and weight. I really can't stand 1.2kg on my head for longer time while flying or especially combat flying.
aero would be a mistake by now. regarding weight it's more important to have a balance at front and back, not the total weight.
@@Nyuumi That's wrong. I got the 8KX and even with the comfort kit it is still crap regarding comfort.
The Aero and the Pico 4 are good examples for comfort.
@@4secsharkmr352 obviously, 8kx has all the weight on the front, while pico 4 has a battery on the back for balance just like crystal does and that's just more important than total weight.
good news about the FOV, this is a nice step up from the Q2 and G2 and Aero. The slight distortion when rotating with aspheric is not that bad, and it's worth it to have clarity that's way better than fresnel and pancake lenses
Small sweet spot, that's a no go for me. I already have a small sweet spot in Reverb G2. How wide is this headset?
the tracking could be a BIG problem when playing Onward while holding a rifle or machine gun. That's next to impossible . But you can still use the VIVE tracking i presume. Then there is no problem at all.
The HMD seems nice overall, however, the Valve Index 2 (Deckard) is worth having patience to wait for it. When the Valve Index came out it was the best HMD on the market and I expect nothing less from the Valve Deckard taking the throne as the best HMD on the market when it releases.
That's a big 'if' and 'when'. The Deckard may never come out, or come out 3 years from now. I would rather get this now rather than wait on a headset that may or may not come out at all.
@@justaguydoinstuff This. Sometimes it's just better to buy now and when something eventually comes out sooner than expected you still have lightly used headset you can sell to get back a decent amount of money you've payed for it. Of course if there is an information e.g. "Deckard releases in a month" - that would be worth the wait but at this point we don't even know whether Valve even wants to release it after all. Just like Meta has recently cancelled a few of their planned headsets.
@@chadef555 Yep exactly. Even if Deckard does someday release, who's to say it will be as good as this? It would probably be more mainstream with lower resolution than the crystal so more PCs can run it. So even then, this may still be better if you want the best visual quality.
also how is index 2 even supposed to beat a 12k, we don't even have good enough gpu's yet to power it.
@@Nyuumi 12K is not needed. The size and weight of Index 2 will beat 12K. Lenses and panels will be more than adequate on the Index 2
Thomas: 1.2 kilos
Me: I heard enough.
Wait for the next high end pcvr, maybe somnium vr1
Yeah the somnium sounds good on paper, but it also looked somehow big and heavy (not as much as the crystal but still more than pico 4). Also I'm excited about the fov of the somnium. Will it be more than pico 4/crystal ? Let's wait and see
Thanks for the informative review. Did you notice any performance difference when using parallel projection mode? I know on the 8KX there is a big performance hit when using it.
Also i returned my varjo vr3 because the warping was way to much at the sides..is this better on the pimax crystal?
Othets have confirmed it is actually an amazing headset. The Dragon is rising!
Great preview. Looks promising.
"Triple-layer nano-coated aspherical lenses" only sounds cool AF with a Danish accent.
if i remember correctly, this thing has a cpu-chip inside that handles something about the displayed image... i think compression/decompression and some other stuff? and the inside-out tracking, etc.
anyways, my guess would be that they cant get enough power through a normal USB-cable to drive this thing without borrowing electrons from the battery.
which is fine, it functions as a counterweight to the display. also you get 2 batteries and they are hotswapable, so thats not a big deal.
You can actually connect a fast charger to the usb via wall
I believe you are correct, I think SadlyItsBradley mentioned this. But I don't see it as a valid excuse, they should have used USB-C connection for the power (instead of a USB-A 2.0 connector) this should have been able to give enough power for the headset to at least not discharge. I really like this headset and it is currently 2nd on my wish list, but I think that means I will pass... I just can not get over the weight, the rest I can deal with. (to those who wonder, the BigScreen Beyond is #1 right now on my wishlist)
@@joelperry2834 use a usb to type c
I love my Pimax 8KX and the Crystal sounds tempting to me because for me its all about the visuals. When I heard you say the battery drains while connected to the PC so you have a limited time and or have to switch out the battery to continuing playing on your PC might be a huge problem and I really think it might be for others as well. Pimax has to fix this issue cause I feel it will take a huge toll on there sales of the Crystal if they cant resolve this.
Great review, thanks
Great, thank you for your impressions. My favorite place 🤣: I'll say that tracking is available!
wow, they need to make the DMAS headphone standard on all units
What do you think performance would be like on an i7-7700, RTX3070 and 32GB RAM? Do I need a new PC? Also H-FOV, WTF? Thats not as advertised !
3070 is bare minimum for this headset and that will work only if you lower the resolution. So you won't be able to play on a resolution that accounts for barell distortion. CPU feels not enough as well. majority of time FOV is not as advertised in any headset or companies use diagonal FOV instead. Of course FOV is dependent on your face shape, how deep your eyes are in your skull etc.
we need the 12k+😎
nope that will definitely will give you headaches and neck problems with time. thank you for the review as honest as always
Was looking for replacement of mu index.. and all the way till you reached batteries topic it was interesting.. but wow.. 2.5h even when connected to PC.. unfortunately that crosses it off my list ..
Don't be so sure. I bet he had the old cable. Pimax said a while ago they were using the old cable for now but a new, more powerful cable would ship with the units.
@@justaguydoinstuff what does a cable have to do with battery? Two USB ports don't offer a lot of power and the mini led screed needs it. So unless they add a third USB or more a new cable won't fix it
@@prodeous The newer cable is supposed to provide more power. They mentioned that several times during the road show.
can you test it playing DCS? its a free mil sim game but you only get 2 planes and 2 maps. this game is a gpu hog in vr.
I see that you have a Forte VFX1 in the background. I tried one out in an electronics store in 2000. They had Duke Nukem setup to try out. I played for about 5 minutes and I was on the verge of throwing up for at least 45 minutes afterwards. That did not stop me from getting the Oculus CV1 and having a way better experience.
czcams.com/video/XzJ-P2lcKaY/video.html
Seems like a decent headset. I currently run a pico 4 , which is great, especially for its price. The main thing im curious on is how the compression compares to pico 4 on PC using the adapter and/or wifi
I'm more interested in high PPD than high FOV myself. 100-110° is great for me. Higher FOV will make sense for me when we get much more powerful GPUs. the Crystal looks like it finally achieves that awesome PPD that I want.
That's great
Hi Voodoo, Can you tell us what FPS you are getting and at what resolution you are running each game.
Your review is awesome but some data about games, the res you are running and what stable FPS u get would be helpful.
I wish I had time for that 😭
I don't understand, surely this video took days to edit. Typing the fps you get in 3 popular games would only take 10mins?
Stats would make the review better 😎👍
Thanks for the great video review, I was wondering from your experience how well does the FOV and visual quality compare with the VIVE XR Elite headset?
Never tried that headset sorry
That’s true agree with everything u guys are saying including the early CZcams reviews, this is the best VR headset u can buy right now.
If the controllers like the quest does that mean bad tracking in dark rooms and if so will a ir light fix the issue?
Can we use a higher capacity (more than 6000mah) battery?
25:36
Do Quest headsets also drain battery while in use or only when using a not great USB-C cable?
I don't think you can use another battery, but not sure.
Quest: Only when using bad cable
yes, my quest would drain quick, but I solved this by using an external powered USB hub - I wonder if this would work with the Crystal too?
theoretically you could use a 3rd party battery, but it would have to be made to fit properly.
@@WhatsupAbroad So, may be a possibility for 3rd party vendors, or for even Pimax to sell larger capacities? That could be useful then. 🤔
@@paulct91 I don't believe we have plans to offer one at this point in time but it is not impossible.
Pimax 8k or 12K, can make room, door, table etc for walk? I used Quest Pro2 walk room without cable.
how good is the display quality/clarity compared to reverb g2?
I wonder if they sent you the old cable? They said a few times that they were using the old cables for demos etc and that a new cable would ship with these that didn't have that problem. That may be the issue.
I'm pretty sure the would tell me, because I'm in contact with them every day, also the tech team 😁
unbelievable! you still didn't fix the internal communication 😭
could you test if the battery still drains when plugged into a socket with a 20w adapter?
After PS VR2 being a bit of a let down (personally), I'm looking into exploring PC VR. I probably won't buy a Pimax, but it's great to see leaps and bounds are still happening in the PC space. Really interested to see how much PC hardware costs in about a year's time and after Quest 3 is released.
It's crazily expensive....so you should ask yourself which games you like on pc and if it's worth it, you need at least a 3090 for these glasses really....better a 4090...
If you have a quest 2 you can use a cloud pc service like shadow pc which supports vr. Its 29.99 a month if you just want to test pcvr out. There are also other pc cloud services out there! Check reviews on best pc cloud for vr. If you don't have a quest 2 then wait for quest 3 then test pcvr with shadow pc. I always laugh at people who say you need to spend thousands on a pc🤣🤣🤣🤣 you don't even need a pc lol
Shadow pc uses top tier pc cloud..so you won't need to buy a 3090 for any game
@@Vr_Demon_ Shadow PC is only for the quest right?
@@Hani_Santa oculus...pico. Any untethered headset including this pimax crystal
Only makes me more excited for the 12k QLED. Still for those who don't need the large FOV and additional cost will enjoy the Crystal.
But Lord, smaller FOV than the Index.. seems we never get to leave this 90 - 100ish degrees realm, apparently there is no in between this and full on 170. :( I could have lived with all the rest, but that's a real bummer.
and those who want to use it wirelessly, since 12k fov will probably be limited to how it will be on crystal.
Pimax with a wired headset that requires a battery that drains in a few hours. Lol shitmax you have done it again!
I hope pimax spends a ton on software upgrades. So much potential.
Wish they would be able to compete with meta capabilities
the fact that the battery is needed for PCVR use kills it for me, zero interest in battery hassles, I only use PCVR
Thank you very much Thomas for your uncompromising review. The fact that some futures don't work doesn't bother me. How many updates on Pico or Quest before it works well. What bothers me is that they don't learn anything from their problems. We will still have to fight with parallel projection, smarth smoothing etc etc. Pimax is an extraordinary company. They have managed to marry the worst of both worlds. The cable (which I have on my 8KX) and the battery (which I have on my Pico 4, and which can be bypassed with BoboVR) at the SAME TIME. I also compared the FOV with your Pico 4 video. The Crystal has a smaller FOV. They surely have a great rendering I do not dispute it and I have full confidence in your judgment. I expected a lot from the Crystal but maybe too much, I even pre-ordered from a retailer. I thought I had the best composition (Pancake, Oled, Wireless, Wigig, average FOV) but ultimately I think not. But I will still continue to follow this Pimax. Maybe we'll have something else with the 12K. Thanks again to you.
surely, they could add a wire to the leads and have the battery as a stand alone, lowering the weight on your head by the weight of the battery or take the power from the PC
So interesten in this headset but the battery swapping stuff would drive me nuts. Mostly sim racing so I cannot just pause the race amd swap batteries. Definitely need this headset without standalone mode and battery

its weird that they kept the same bulky shape if the fov is not as big anymore
It is the case they are using for upcoming 12k. So saving money by using same case.
@@laartwork This. It also allows them to use the upcoming optional faceplates on both headsets for base stations, body tracking etc.

you have so many great headsets back there just sitting on the shelf can you share and send me one of the Pimax. I now have an HP G2 but would love to have a Pimax.
Was the performance the same as the 8kx or better?
hmm same I would say
Crystal weights 1,16 KG? That's waaaay too much for my poor neck. I get neck pain during prolonged G2 sessions and it weights "only" 0,5 KG. My next headset will have to be sub 400 grams with balanced weight distribution. Crystal looks to me like neck spondylosis trouble waiting to happen. Shame as image quality looks awesome.
So how do motorcycle riders manage to wear a helmet that weighs even more for extended periods of time without getting neck issues? Yes, the Crystal is a heavier headset, but it isn't going to cause neck problems unless you are a ultra fragile human being.
@@tylerhickernell3099 A front heaviness is the problem with today's VR headsets. I'm a rider and a cyclist myself yet I don't get neck or spine pain while wearing my helmet (Shoei Glamster) because it's weight distribution is well balanced. That's not the case with G2 and looks like Pimax might be even worse
@@rudlzavedno7279 Yeah I’m not sure how front heavy the Crystal is but the battery in back should help some. It can be an issue for sure.
@@tylerhickernell3099 Motorcycle helmat(Full face helmat at least) is quite different from HMDs as it covers your entire skull( More pressure distribution points).
Our hopes will be meganeX or Bigscreen beyond( both are around 200 grams), i wish they deliver good stuff in the end.
When roughly is release ,,,pimax dates killing me lol
Real question. Will we be able to develop for it using UE5?
no idea to be honest 🤣
In your opinion, it’s good enough “next vr-headset” after Valve Index?
anything is better than valve index, thats a 2MP headset.. ancient. This is 8.3MP, its like 5 generations better :)
@@Nobody-Nowhere It will also be unstable, unreliable, hard to calibrate, probably incompatible with some hardware, poor build quality and expensive. Stick to the main players if you want to have a consistant quality experience.
@@christopherditchburn4769 What main players, bro? Lol
Will the DMAS from the 8KX work with the Crystal?
i believe so
I'll have to check to make sure we haven't changed the connection type, but early Crystal units were equipped with 8kx dmas speakers on some occasions
The weight and the fact that you have to have batteries to play tethered is a total no go for me. That's just idiotic.
this thing STILL isnt available to buy yet?! wtf?? they've been talking about the crystal for ages now!! Too much talk not enough action!
We went back to molding and changed lenses and other components after our roadshow users and guests pointed out issues with the previous batches. So we are taking the time to make the product better for our customers.
@Joshua Son- Pimax what you didnt know there were issues yourself??
A stand alone head set, with a weight of 1.162 kgs? I can barely keep up with my 8kx. and whilst playing stationary, non fps, games, only. For "mobility" I am using Quest 2, and it already feels heavy.
Hi, how long does it last on one battery with a good phone charger plugged in to it while doing pcvr? Thanks
will try that soon
@@voodoodevr-en if you are using it for SIM racing hot swapping isn't an option so it has to last 3 hours to cover double stints in endurance races
Great review many thanks, Varjo Aero small FOV? Erm not on my IPD its larger than my G2 actually however based on my experience with the Pimax 8kx i had i'll pass on anything Pimax for now.
So no inside out yet and not ETA... Hopefully before xmas
Hard to find sweat spot and heavy weight, it's a no for me with my motion sim.
@@WhatsupAbroad They were the reviewers conclusions not mine.
Is that 1162g without the cable?
yes
@@voodoodevr-en My god...lol
My head is getting tired just looking at that behemoth! The new headset from Bigscreen is more my speed.
enjoy 92 FOV.... you couldn't pay me to use the headset by bigscreen.
@@crimsom2977 You’ve tried it?
@@bentonpix Those are the Specs from the manufacturer
@@crimsom2977 92 fov isn’t a lot on paper, but reviewers don’t seem to be bothered by it. I was mainly attracted by it because of its size, weight and custom fit and optics.
@@bentonpix most of the vr reviewers are payed off, its a small community, 92 fov is garbage and I would avoid it like the plague.
Hi resolution for eye? I dont find specific for crystal thks
Lol
Man that thing looks like early 90s headsets lol
The somewhat larger shape and standard frame allow us to build multiple headset models on the same platform. This dramatically reduced development costs and saved our customers a lot of money.
Although I do see what you mean.
@@WhatsupAbroad Oh no don’t get me wrong. I think what you guys are doing is incredible and the fact that it has so much clarity really is a game changer. Low resolution makes a lot of people sick, with clarity people are able to not get headaches from trying to decipher images in the background. Well done!
I don't see the point of a review yet this should be more of a preview of what to expect currently. Its too early when its still actively being developed this wont be what the consumer will get.
Спс, добротный обзор
The daft decision to require a battery with this headset is really throwing me off from purchasing it.
Maybe you can find a dummy battery for it. Pimax cannot officially provide one as it will violate agreements (that Qualcomm chips must be powered by batteries) with Qualcomm. However, 3rd parties can provide a power source that will mimic an original Pimax Crystal battery, but will take power from a power outlet. The device won't even know where the power is coming from.
@@vtevdo This would most definitely be easy to solve. Mimicing the voltage/amperage of a power supply is easy feat nowadays.
This would surely be solved easily.
Thank you for the reply i got worried for a sec
Just don't trust Pimax software support all that much. That's the deal breaker for me. Maybe it will get better, but how long will that take? I wouldn't want to be an early adopter. Maybe if it's available on Amazon one day I'll chance it. No way I'd buy it right now from Pimax. I think they waited too long as well. PSVR2 could kill a lot of sales for them now.
Also, Pimax YOU NEED TO DROP THIS PIMAXIAN BS ONCE AND FOR ALL. IT'S JUST INANE AND CONFUSING
It's already far more stable than the 8kx, by orders of magnitude. So don't count us out
@Joshua Son- Pimax I pre-ordered I won't be fulfilling my order. You took to long.
@@WhatsupAbroad I second his request for sale through Amazon, ive dealt with a technical issue with my 8kx from pimax’s support
(audio wiring had a short on left side of headstrap, after a long back and forth I was sent new earphones and had the ticket closed)
would much prefer having the reassurance that if something’s wrong I can get a replacement through Amazon then have to wait for (possibly wrong) parts from China.
Don’t get me wrong I love you guys, you make crazy impressive hardware (even with some of the caveats it comes with) and I’m super duper excited for the eventual 12k which even if it only reach 80% of the claims made for it will likely be an end goal headset, but I have a bit more faith in amazons policies then pimax support.I’ll definitely end up picking up the Crystal if it comes to Amazon, hopefully that day one days comes.
@@philjohnson3546 That's unfortunate
@@metalmanexetreme We have always sold some headsets through Amazon, and as far as I know we are also planning to do sales through Amazon and Newegg. We are planning to move more distribution to partners so that we can reduce our direct involvement in shipping and provide a better experience in various markets
I'm hoping my preorder for a Crystal is about 10,000th in line so they can work out production problems, cable issues, missing features and debugging on other people. 🙂
The irony is with the crystals wide scope they could have likely added two rear facing wide angle cameras to track the spaces you lost tracking in, which would have made the tracking on the crystal untouchable from any other inside out tracked headset aside from those whose controllers track themselves.
Maybe they will consider it for the 12k
Not really, the limit is actully with the SoC - not the cameras themselves . Its no different in why Meta didnt include more and had to jump the gun to adding the SLAM method to the controllers instead. Pimax would be better off doing the same in the future as well and or offering them as a optional buy in the future. XR2gen2 doesnt improve this either - just the base numbers.
I don't believe he mentioned it so I'm asking, is there active ventilation in the headset? Fans keeping you cool?
didn't hear anything so I guess not 🤔
Pimax said there was a fan during the roadshow, but I guess it's just super quiet.
heavier than all other pimax headsets... sigh. no 12k for me i guess. have a good one
do the controllers not come with straps?
I don't know, the final release package will be different from my package
