Even for the children whos abuser had such a grip on them that they never talk about it. My case only came about because I was born with a bladder defect and required regular visits from a urologist. If the dr hadnt seen me that day my urine may not have had evidence of very recent abuse. My abuser had me so convinced that I needed to protect him that I didnt talk about it for 10 years. These conversations are just as needed as all other safety issues.
To have them feel comfortable with the parents we must first make sure they’re comfortable with us. No secrets, no lies. I don’t want to repeat this stupidity again. We need to be more open for them to be more open. Please, otherwise saying it later like either of us will resort to bad guys getting away with their crime.
