Whether or not something is "overpriced" is not an opinion. Unfortunately it's a reality dictated by the market. The market is saying that a 4090 is worth $1800-$2000 whether we like it or not. agreed. I passed on the 3080 because it has less VRAM then expected (was expected to launch as a 10GB part), the 4080 should be a 20GB part but isn't... I'm looking to next gen to move on from my RX 6800 XT, which has been doing fine, but I want more compute performance for AI workloads... and oddly enough that requires more VRAM... Why such a random number like 22 why not 21 or 23? All kidding aside, I'm 100% sure it won't be 22. It would most probably be 16 gbs, and if we're lucky 20.

    • @vipuljain5683

      Cuz Nvidia won't match the same ram configuration as that of 4090, and there had been rumors around 4080ti variant to get 20gb of ram and Rams are always in even number. Hence the hunch.

      No way Ngreedia will do that. Gamers are not complaining about 16 GB even at 4k ultra.
      Also it would eat their expense AI card market, wich is slapping a ton of HBM in a a $1000 GPU and selling it for $15k.

    • @Avantime
      @Avantime Před měsícem +3

      The 5080 will have its RAM significantly reduced for sure, just to make it a 'less AI' card and to avoid it being banned for export to China, even if it's faster than the 4090 (Nvidia would not want to have the 5070 as the flagship card in China). Same/more performance but less VRAM vs. 4090 = less suitable for AI and more likely to avoid US sanctions. After all games don't need that much VRAM.
      5090 however will be full home AI + gaming, and export restricted by US govt.

    1200$ 5080 1.1x faster than 4090
    899$ 16gb 5070ti 1.1x faster than 4080super

    For whatever reasons Nvidia decided to go with last gen 4nm (actually 5nm modified). And since that decision they can launch their next gen sooner.
    The reasons could be various - limited production capacity considering more profitable AI needs, larger gains than expected from existing solution update, AMD having temporary failure, next-next gen progressing faster... again, whatever.
    The point being Nvidia is in their own league. They will make whatever they want, ask the price they want and "everyone" will pay.

    • @vensroofcat6415
      @vensroofcat6415 Před měsícem

      @@Eleganttf2 yes. Like 95% iirc. And Intel mentioned having some - like the rest? But then Nvidia is important player and things eventually change. So probably there was some hope to have limited 3nm 1H 2025. For RTX 5090 maybe. Because otherwise that delayed timescale didn't make much sense in the first place. Now it's back to business as usual. 2 year cycle. Although it could still change, they are likely too close to finish to change anything.
      Also weren't those 95% Apple about 2024, not 2025? Not sure I have seen numbers for 2025. Can you share?
