That is so well designed. Simple, effective and with basic tools and equipment. I have an old Grand Vitara and will definitely be doing this kind of project in summer. Your enthusiasm is catching.
Building starts at 1:09 😉 & To every Discovery 2 owners who wanna load the trunk and go camping : Here are the structure & plywood dimensions : (All the dimensions are in centimètre) - On the trunk : Plywood = 112x92 (Centimètres) Alloy structure = 61 long x 92 wide x 28.5 high (Centimètres) - Instead of the 3 passenger seaters : Plywood = 112x138 Alloy structure = 68 long x 100 wide x 28.5 high & also 45 high. You'r welcom !
Pretty cool setup. I was a lot lazier and cheap when I built my own sleeping platform for my 80 Series. 4 plastic containers in the trunk and I used the folded backrest of the rear seats (middle row seats actually) as a platform too so I don't have to take the seats out and put them back in again. The plywood is shorter, only covering the trunk area and it sits even with the folded down backrest. An air mattress on top of it and two can sleep very comfy in there. I gotta come up with some nicer window covers to keep the light out. I currently use some plastic bags and tape. It looks bad. :)
Excellente idée de comment faire sans soudure coûteuse. Merci beaucoup Je vais faire un module résidentiel dans la remorque. Vous avez les mains d'or! Спасибо за идею Юрий.
Bon travail!
I really like your idea and construction-congrats. Can you tell me how meters of alloy i need, the size of square tube/25x25x1,5?/, how many conectors and type of them i need? Thank you.
4:01 I think I'd leave the rear seat in. Folded down you could have the front plywood on a hinge and even if it was slightly elevated it should sleep well with your head towards the front. just my opinion. looks great overall.
Hi Frank ! Thanks for your feedback, appreciated ! In a way you are totally correct but the front plywood in 26cm larger than the trunk one, so if you want it on a hinge it won't fit.
In my disco2, I made basically the same but all in plywood, but I made the "front" section on a hinge so I can just fold the rear seats forward, fold the base from the rear over the seats, move the front seats forward and fold a third section, also on a hinge, forwards. The middle part rests on the back of the rear seats, and the forward ~30 cm section rests just on the hinge. That way you get just a little bit more leg room so you don't have to sleep with the legs bent.
Merci Baptiste pour cette vidéo, je cherche à faire pareil pour mon pick up mais il me manquait plus que le choix des matériaux, c'est simble mais fallait y penser. Peux-tu me dire où touver ces profilés et les croisillons d'assemblage?
Perfect solutions for explore and camping! I have a manual discovery 1. Do u think the back seat and trunk area are big enough for this kinda of modification?
Hello, what are the measurements of the aluminum tube (height, width, thickness)? Can it handle the weight of two people? I really like your videos, thanks!!
Salut baptiste. Ton montage est très simple et ce qu il me plaît . Ou à tu trouvé tes barres en alu ainsi que les embouts d emboîtement en plastique . Merci
Hello, does anyone have some sort of shopping list or a name for the drawers he bought. I’m making a similar bed platform and I can’t seem to find ones like it. Thanks
