The first half of the czcams.com/users/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
My husband made these way back in the 60's when he was starting out as an electrician. The last time he made them for his work trucks, he made the outer box with sheet metal. The drawers are still wood with locking metal fronts and track rollers. We have them in the mini van to store beach chairs and camping stuff. He's made me all kinds of stuff, a built in bed with under bed storage boxes.
Father built set for full size truck in 70s had sheet metal wrapped around them, resized for his toyota in 1980. Lasted until I sold the truck. built similar for out large work beds f350 etc... Great build but I do not like how they are not removable, getting ready to build a set for my Lighting and currently planning on using bolts holding bed down to anchor in place because of the short 5'6" bed.
By far the beat version I’ve seen, beats the £186 drawer runners I was looking at and looks a lot more industrial. I’ll be using this on a van style fit out as I have windows in my van all round so keeps praying eyes at bay! 👍🏻
damn, that's funny, i was almost thinking the opposite. that looked like 100s of hrs of work and a shit ton of home depot trips!!! Haha, i might opt for a more simple solution but fantastic content nonetheless
WOW, I could only wish to have those tools and skills!! How the hell can anyone dislike this guys craftsmanship?? I mean really?? Amazing work and although I have no skill set in this area, it just motivated me to learn! Bravo Sir!!!
We are about to set off on a family road trip and I finished these just in time! The bad news is we're going for two and a half weeks so there won't be a new video for a while. I'll get straight back to it as soon as we get home! ;)
I was holding my breath when you climbed into them! What beautiful work, so functional and looks great too! I would have put some hinges on the front top section so I could access drawer without pull out if needed. Loved the glides you created, great idea and saves money over pricey glides. I will be using that myself. Thanks for a great video!!
Awesome...straight forward, quick, no need for explaining every little detail...I like that. As long as we (the people watching) have knowledge of building things, we can keep up with what you're doing. Thanks for this one, I'm gonna build one using your method
Wow! I love this design, I'm planning on doing this in the coming spring or summer and have been agonizing about buying good heavy duty slides, but this is such a great solution!!
Excellent drawer slide engineering! I'll be utilizing this concept for my own future builds. Sometimes simplest is most elegant. Thanks so much for sharing and hello from London Canada.
Excellent work! Super helpful video! I'll be installing a set of drawers/sleeping platform for an extended rock-climbing road trip in my pickup... this video and the accompanying article will be my go-to! Thanks so much for sharing!
God that was such a well made video. I hate these long drawn out builds. Having it sped up like that makes it much more interesting as the information is delivered so much faster. thanks for making such a great vid. And that gadget that hide the screws! PRICELESS!
I don't have one, but I drill a pilot hole, then use a drill bit the size of the screw head and chase the pilot hole with it to a depth where the head sits hidden. Not as good or consistent, but it still works.
Work of art. Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship, executed well as can be. I love watching people do something they are real good at. I am no carpenter , I try though. Mostly stuff for my wife’s animals. I get motivated to do better by watching these guys who know their stuff. I can barley get a straight cut with a circle saw. It’s the only power saw I have to work with . I can’t wait to get me a miter saw , band saw, jig saw , all the saws!!!
I just found your videos, and I have to say: I can't complain about anything. They show every step, but waste no time. Not to mention phenomenal craftsmanship on everything. Thanks for doing this.
Love the project, bonus point on not including obnoxious music, or talk-over. We can easily see what you were doing, good job on the camera angles and process. Ace!
I am building drawers and a sleeper platform for my FJ using your drawer design. I love it! Your photography is just as stellar. Thanks for teaching me!
Really good video, I love the high speed footage that lets us see the whole process without hours of boredom. (also gives a good impression of how much time is involved) Thumps up!
Well firstly...have an incredible holiday Neil and family!!!🤗😊 and second, what a fantastic job! The way you finished it off with the hardware and rubber on top! Job well done my friend!👊😊
Wow..Thank you so much for this inspiring beautifully done job, exactly what I need, and I have exactly the same Ute and canopy, I am so appreciative of this.
Your so perfect in how you detail and build I love to build things too I learned a lot from your videos I appreciate a blue collar man that creates with skills and hands
Pask, I just found your channel and I've gotta say that you've really inspired me to follow my father and grandfather into woodworking/carpentry trade. You're videos are awesome and super informative. So thank you from the United States! Keep it real down under!
I always wanted to build bed drawers similar to these, but just never got around to it. I had the low profile camper shell (Snug-Top) like yours. I liked the way you trimmed out your drawers with black mats. Somebody walks by and looks in, they can't tell you have drawers when trimmed-out in black. I really like your work, nice job on those drawers.
I know the comment is a bit late to the party, but this is easily one of the best diy truck bed drawer builds. The video earned a like, but the link to your photography website earned a subscription. Thanks Neil!
As a qualified Car restoration/chassis Technician & also a qualified Carpenter this is the he best I’ve seen to date. Simple clean well executed and I’m going to steal it thanks dude.
When doing the corners of fabric, fold the corners so they overlap then make one 45 cut threw both then they will have a perfectly matching seam so u don’t need to use the marker to hide the gap.
This is excellent,, nice simple and functional design, well thought out and implemented. I'm going to use this as a basis fro making some for my Land Rover Discovery. Thanks for sharing!
I made thee about 5 years ago shortly after the video came out, they have been excellent and are clearly going to outlast the actual vehicle. They've done the Oodnadatta track twice including the old Ghan road and out to Chambers pillar, Googs track, and a heap of other corrugated shake the shizer out of you roads. Cheers Pask!
You’re a legend. Fast forwarded the video with all necessary informations for us. Appreciate the effort you put in. The pocket holes are new to me, I’ve never done them myself. I’ll build something similar for a mini truck soon.
@@alvenr the point is that the space can be rolled out. very important for people working out of their truck all day. you don't have to climb to the back to reach something
Mate ... I've built van drawers before on a real shoe string budget and they worked well but so many good ideas from this video. Your end result is absolutely next level too. So good, thanks for posting .
What a beautiful job! I thought for sure you'd make a rolling platform to go on top. I did this for my truck and it is very convenient to get equipment from the back.
I grew up in a family of carpenters so in the 1950's my Grandfather had a pickup with a home built camping deal in the back. Nothing fancy but it made those weekend fishing trips more enjoyable with a place to sleep and get in out of the weather. Many things our Grandparents did in the middle of the last century were done out of necessity and convenience and created family memories we all treasure today. A dollar was a real dollar and many were not wealthy by any means. American ingenuity is a trait lost to today's social fools.
A brilliant job! Some great carpentry work there for the quality end result!! Very inspirational, now for me to 'have a go' doing a homemade job! Thanks for sharing!
This is brilliant. I like how your videos are sped up (saves me from hitting the 2X setting :) and there's not a lot of extraneous explanation. Anybody who's got enough skill and ambition to replicate something like this doesn't need an explanation on the history of the wood screw.
Geeez I find it so bizarre that 900 odd people can give this a thumbs down. I’d like to here the reasoning behind it. Thanks for this upload mate. I’m off to Bunnings now to get materials to copy your build 👌🏼

Very nice work!
Finally a craftsman. Nice job
Pask Makes how much did the project cost before all the finishing (carpet, rubber, etc)?
Nice to see such precision and patience and pride.... Hmmm 3P's...did I just create a saying? Lol. Seriously, great job there. Inspiring.
Excellent presentation...having spent forty years as a carpenter I really appreciate seeing nice work neatly executed...
Thanks very much Orville! :)

This is the best drawer system on CZcams that i have found so far and i have watched a lot of them. Well done!
I'd mess this up. Plus the wood bits may wear sitting on the metal wheel wells. I bought a store bought system called Decked.

I think that's the backing of carpet, not an exposed wood gap.
Great work. Im a experienced finish carpenter and this guy knows what he was doing and the right steps of doing it! Nice!!!!

Probably from companies that charge thousands for prebuild bed drawer slides.
Maybe because the drawers "steal" a lot of space and it is very unlikely that someone needs so much space for storing stuff.
