I am the least handyman there ever is. I don’t even know what a carburetor is! I followed your instructions and my mower is now running! Thank you.
Great job!
Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower czcams.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
Wow not sure if that is a word but thanks!
I have never done anything like this and I did exactly what you showed us to do yesterday I tried to start my lawnmower a few times it didn’t work immediately I let it rest for 15 minutes and it started right up I mowed my entire lawn with no problems! I am a single woman and I feel like I can do anything thanks to you! This is the best video ever! Just be patient and give it a few times cranking after then let it rest if it doesn’t start up right away. It really works!
Ah shucks Laura, this is the best comment ever. Well done being patient and giving it another try. If there is anything else you need a video on leave me a comment here and I will see what I can do.
Me too. I was so happy.
Appreciate ya buddy i have the exact one n your instructions got it running n i paid $35 n im gonna sharpen blade n make me some change 🤜🏽🤛🏻 🚜🚜🚜
Winning!
Mower Mike you’re amazing. I am a 60+++ year old women with zero mechanical skills and I was able to fix my lawn mower based only on your CZcams video. It ended up being quick and easy to remove the carburetor, clean and replace. You saved me a chunk on money, time and hassle. And, the lawn mower works perfectly. Thanks
That is great news Kathleen. 60 is the new 40 I hear these days ;)
Thank you so much for this, since I lost my dad to cancer it's been tough.. my dad was always the one to fix things around the house, and I took that for granted and didn't pay enough attention to him when he was alive.. he was always the one to fix the lawn mowers and weed eaters.. do you making this video has helped me to fix my first lawn mower..thank you
Ah man glad to help. You can’t look back we are all only here for a minute.
As a non-mechanical person, you just saved me a ton of annoyance. Watched the video and my mower started first pull. Thank you!!!
Congratulations! Can’t beat that feeling. Sounds like you are mechanical and just didn’t know it!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! My Craftsman self-propelled walk-behind mower crapped out in the middle of doing the yard. No warning, just died. Mower was barely a year old and the 2 year "warranty" would not cover what they said was a carburetor issue (normal "wear and tear" they said was not covered. On a less than 1 year old machine?!?!?!). Shop wanted minimum of $150 to fix (called multiple places and they all said the same). Long story even longer, I watched your video and thought "Hmmm, even I could try that. Got nothing to lose". About 1 hour later I am up and running and my mower is slicing through my (9 inch long and overgrown) lawn like a BEAST! I can't thank you enough for creating a THOROUGH and SIMPLE video for a mechanical moron like myself. I owe you several beers if our paths ever cross. Thank you again, you are a lifesaver! ~Adam~
Ah man I appreciate the kind words. Sounds like you are just getting started on your handyman journey. Don’t be afraid to jump in and fix stuff yourself, you got this.
Thanks Dude I did the same thing and now my mower runs smoothly
Winning!
5 year old mower sitting. Starts with just that one little cleaning. Awesome...thanks for sharing this.
Glad you got her going again good job!
I got this used mower last year… wouldn’t start. Watched your video and boom, it started. This year finally had to cut, same thing. I’m so glad I saved this video. Thank you.❤
That is great news! Proud of you for getting her going again
I just saw your video. And let me tell you. I was about to go trash my mower and purchase another one. But thank God I didn’t. I followed all the steps you did, and now the mower is working like new again. Thank you!!!
That is great news. Glad to help
Dude! Took me 10 minutes to get this done, start to finish. Mine hadn't started in over a year, thank you. Started up on the second pull, heck ya
You are tha man! Glad I could help
Mike you ROCK, thank you so much for all the help. I'm a 68 year old woman and you saved me! I was able to clean the carburetor all by myself! You made it clear and simple. Your my hero well you & me.
Ah shucks thanks glad I could help. Nothing makes you feel better than being able to fix something yourself.
@@MowerMike My push mower won't start. What do you think it is?
I’m working on mine also. I haven’t put it back together yet, hoping that this was the fix! Thank you!
Thanks it worked, thank you, great job! 👍👍👍👍
You my friend is amazing... guy across the street moved and perfectly good Troy built mower been sitting there for 3 years looking brand new...I grab it and wouldn't start, watched your video and by golly started up like new!!!! Thanks buddy
Congrats on the fix, nothing better than a free mower you fixed yourself!
Thank YOU!
Cleaning out the carb bolt did the trick! Glad you showed the “twist tie” trick, since I couldn’t find a wire that small anywhere in the house!
👍👍
Haha that is awesome. Fixed your mower with a twist tie. I was just saying that, didn’t know it actually worked. I may have to do a video on it. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks so much!! I kept debating whether or not I should buy a new lawn mower, and I'm so glad I didn't. The lawn mower is fixed now. I can't believe it.
Hey congrats glad I could help.
Thanks. Someone gave me one of these mowers a few weeks ago after the company I was using to mow my yard closed up shop. It worked great the first time and then this morning I did one pass on the yard and it died. Did this and ir works fine.
Thank you sir! Literally bought a new mower was waiting for it to get in and got impatient . Watched this vid and no more need for a new mower. Thankyou
Haha you made my day, mowers are way too high dollar these days
I reclaimed my craftsman lawnmower after seeing this video. Thank you for your time and subscribed
Very cool and well done!
This video saved me at least $100. Thanks!
Great news glad it helped
followed video exactly and it worked on first pull ! thank you. This is 2nd year in a row i’ve been in the same situation and watched your video again to remember how to fix!
That is great glad I can help
Every time my damn mower stops working I come back to see your video and voila! It runs like New! Thanks again
Haha glad I am helping keep your yard mowed!
Got same mower. Thought cleaning was more complicated so I’ve been procrastinating getting to it. Now that you’ve learned me something I’ll get right on it as soon as I get home
You got this!
My laun mower did not work. I did exactly what you showed in the vidoe, and It got fixed!!!
I was about to get rid of it thinking I can not fix it.
Thank you so much for posting the vido!
Great news glad ya got her running. Now go fix something else broke ;)
Thanks buddy you helped this shade tree mechanic a lot. That mower hadn't ran for two summers and thanks to you I've got it purring like a kitten..Much obliged.
That is great news, glad I could help out.
Thanks for the video!! Mower quit mid mow... had to search a bit but that's the same engine on my mower... fired right back up... saved me a trip the small engine repair guy
Excellent glad you got her going!
Thank you Mike for showing me something different on how to clean a carburetor is out on these! Are you sure deserve an award. I can’t give enough gratitude to you.
Haha your note says it all, glad it helped.
You Sir are a master teacher. Great, concise instructions allowed me to follow along at my own speed. Viola.... My mower runs like a champ. Thanks!!
Wow never thought I would get a compliment like that on here but is is appreciated. Glad I helped get her going again for ya
Thank you for helping me fix my lawn mower I love the way you explain the steps easy to understand.😃 thank you again
Glad to help! Now get to mowin!
Hey man,
I just used this to fix my Troybilt mower. Step by step, works great. Thanks.
Glad you got to cutting!
I want to thank you so much for your step by step video. I am now able to clean and change the carburetor. Wasn't bad at all.
Glad it helped
I got a push mower for free from the side of the road, and i started messing with it and i enjoyed it. So i started looking at videos on how to do various things.. and.. today i learned - the hole on the bottom of that bowl goes all the way through... that *could* be why my mower runs for a second or 2 then dies.. =D Thank you Mike!
I almost give up on mine, till I came across your video ❤.
thank you brother!
Awsome glad you got her going and kept her out of the trash
You saved me a lot of money today! Thank you so much!!
Love to hear it! But, you are the one who fixed it not me. Now get to mowin!
Thanks man, my mower was surging and sputtering and I followed this guide and it runs like new again, starts right up and is smooth. I did not see any obvious debris but still followed your instructions and sure enough it fixed it right up. Thanks for the video
Excellent, congrats on the fix. Just had to clear the pipes
Just followed your video and mine started on the first pull too. Thanks...
I also pulled the spark plug and cleaned a little bit of black gook off that too.
Glad you got her fixed up!
Fantastic video. Did mine the same way. 25 year old mower/motor started second pull. Had water in the gas.
That is great, thanks for the feedback. Just have to clear her lungs out
Great video, nice tip about safety goggles. Suggest no open toed flip flops
Ah yes excellent advice when working with mowers. I am no expert
I just tried all kinds of things but didn't know about cleaning out those jet holes, thank you! I'm going to go try that now before I put everything all back together.
Let me know if it works for you, you got this!
Great video, clear, simple and i love your attitude! About your channel description - yard full of broken mowers is a very small price for a hobby you are passionate about! My yard is full of volunteer plants that im checking what grows out of them, not an HOA perfect garden but i love my jungle!
Haha I like it. Sounds like a cheap and fun hobby those are the best. I am slowly working through my mini mower junkyard. Glad you enjoyed the video I have a lot of fun making them.
Dude!! After watching a half dozen other videos and spending an entire weekend working on my old TroyBilt that was in storage 3 years, I watched this video and the part about cleaning the jet holes in the nut. Not sure if it was that, or cleaning out the entire carburetor, or flushing the fuel tank/fuel line...or all three. But you were the only video that showed me how to clean the jet holes. That must have done the trick, because it literally started on my FIRST PULL. I was stoked. You made this accountant feel like a genuine mechanic! You rock!
Haha that is awesome, glad I could help. You know I am a fellow account in real life we can still turn some wrenches.
Mike you save me big time so I follow the video and I was able to cut my grass today. Thanks a lot
Worked perfectly!!! Mine started on first pull also.
Damn what a deal well done!
thanks so much for posting this video!! mine's been in the shed for a couple of years, and this week i made it a point to start tinkering with it...same model as the freebie you just fixed...
That is great to hear, glad you got her runnin again!
Thank you!! I'm a 56 year old woman who loves landscaping. Mower was conking out and I found your video. You made it so easy to follow, and I DID IT BY MYSELF!! I still can't believe I did it! Thanks again, great video!!
I love hearing this, congrats on the fix that is a big deal when you don’t do this very often.
Thanks, Mike. I was able to fix it myself with your lead. There was a little plug blocking the gas from getting through the tiny channel between the lower chamber where the float valve is in to the channel that goes to the engine. Using the wire and the carb cleaner it worked. Thank you. Dave
Glad I could help get ya back to cutting
i love this video i love your enthusiasm
Thanks I have fun playing with these
So quick and good job 👍
Glad it helped
It works perfectly, you are amazing
Wow I wouldn’t go that far but I will take it!
Thanks! I had gotten to the jet before as it had some debris in it causing it to keep dying on me, but had forgotten where it was at. It has sat for two years this time and I am sure it is just the old gas clogging it up.
Yep make sure to drain that old gas out first. I only use ethanol free fuel in mowers makes a huge difference
TY for posting this!!!
You got it!
Made my day thanks so much
Glad it helped
First frickin pull! How cool
I agree I was pumped
Ha! If I can do it anybody can. Thanks for the brilliant post. Now, time to cut the grass.
Haha glad it helped ya out! Sounds like you are just getting started, maybe you will really go nuts next and sharpen the blade haha.
Thanks Mike!
Glad it helped, now get to mowin!
Mike - My mower wouldn't stay running and thought it was because the gas was old, then ran across your video. Not really that sure of what I was doing, I followed exactly what you said, and presto, started right up, ran like charm, and I mowed my yard! I got two other mowers that have sat for a couple years, so they're my next project - just need to learn how to fix the self propel. Do you have any videos on that? Anyway, thanks, buddy, you were a life-saver!
Glad I could help. No videos on the self propel. There should be a little belt that runs off a pulley from the motor to the front whee. I suggest removing the cover over the little belt and see how it looks or if the belt is slipping or broke. Stop piling up broke mowers in your yard or you will end up like me lol
I like your video awesome!!! Thank you bro
Glad it helped, got about 100 more out there for ya
I have the same problem. I did not drain the fuel before winter. I am going to try this !
Go for it, it won’t hurt anything just make sure to get all that old fuel out
@@MowerMike Thank you !!
great job
Glad it helped
same carb I have, been sitting too long, the gas smells awful. thanks a bunch.
Yep that gas will smell like varnish is disgusting.
Way cool! Thanks!
Glad it helped
Well, I changed out the old gasoline ⛽️ and spark plug, and changed the oil, still not working, so I am going to do what you suggested tomorrow !
I bet you will get it going, good luck
Thank you it worked
Glad it helped
Thanks a lot. 👍🏿
Glad it helped get ya mowin!!!
Going to give this a try on the toro I found sitting for free at a neighbors as well! It runs for about 10 mins then that's all I get out of it hopefully it's just that jet screw!
Good luck it can’t hurt!
tnx, man. super clear instructions. super easy fix. i am handy now. NOT! tnx again.
Haha glad to help!
Thank you so much
You are welcome hope you got her running!
Wow bro thanks
Hey did it work for ya???
Does using a known good fuel additive help with the fuel not gumming up in the bowl / float area and inside the carb?
Use ethanal free fuel is your best bet. Or search through my channel, I have a video on an additive that worked good. Can’t remember the name.
Thank you! I have the same mower and it just stopped working.
You are welcome, were you able to fix it?
@@MowerMike Yes! I did it the next day so it was cool.
Great 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Howdy Mike! I need your opinion!! Cub Cadet LT1045. I replaced the main wiring harness, all new gas lines, new fuel pump, all new filters, new spark plug, new carb. The sucker won’t turn over. Cub Cadet says debris in the carb. I can’t see how. Everything is new. Gas tank was cleaned out and air dried for 2 months and fresh gas put in. What can I try to get her to run??
I would check that you have spark, then if you have spark then check you are getting fuel to the carb, then if your fuel pump is good check you don’t have any intake leaks (spray carb cleaner around carb and see if it gurgles) I have some good videos on spark and fuel pumps. Good luck
hi
I have a Troy Bilt 21" self propelled mower 2 in1 Briggs & Stratton 650 series 190cc/650
The interlock switch one prong came off w/o me knowing about. Now I have bought a new and want to know which wire goes where ( This interlock is on the R side of the motor if you are facing the front of the mower) Thanks for your help.
I have no idea what an interlock switch even is. Try it one way and then the other see which one works
Completely removed mine plus the gas tank to clean my carb... Wish I had seen this first to save me some time.
Next time! You are better off doing it the way you did it this is just a quick fix
Do you know what size spark plug? I thought it was just a spark plug, took out the old one and now wandering if the one I put in is the correct
Just take the old one to the auto parts store so they can match it.
What do you do when you have a mower that someone has removed all of the air filter parts for it and there is white stuff in the boot that goes onto the spark plug. It ran for a little while and we had to get some more gas for it. What additives do you suggest for 87 octane fuel in a 1 gallon container? No the blasted thing won't run for more than maybe 10 seconds... Any suggestions? Remember, we have a full fuel tank. Still try the carburetor trick?
Wow quite the issue. I wouldn’t worry about the white stuff that is probably just to help the plug connection. Man I have no idea, I would start with cleaning the carb and then if that doesn’t work I would just throw it on the trash. Good luck
Thanks for this. What kind of carb cleaner were you using?
I use all types but you can’t go wrong with B-12
@@MowerMike Awesome, thanks man.
OK so I watched your video and I was doing what you’re doing but I had this little pointy metal piece fall out when I took the bulb out. And now I can’t get it back in. Help 😬😩
Kohler Carburetor Cleaning on Cub Cadet GTX1054 Mower
czcams.com/video/TIJocbLRl2A/video.html
Check out that video. Sounds like the needle feel out. It is easy just slide it back in there and instal the float again.
Have a TB130 that has been sitting for 7 years. A while back I only dropped the carb bowl and cleaned the jets on the bolt. I’m willing to bet my obstruction is after the main fuel line.
Any recommendations on creating a vacuum over the intake once the air filter is removed?
Not following what you are asking. The engine creates vacuum which sucks the air and fuel into the engine
@@MowerMike I had another unit that airlocked, and in order to get it going I had to remove the air filter and cover the intake with my hand. The tricky part is that you have to remove your hand as soon as the engine turns over, otherwise it’ll be smothered. This purged the lines by creating enough suction to push air out. My theory is that with the TB130 this will do the same likely clearing the obstruction by pushing it downstream. I may have to use a small plastic cup since this requires three hands.
Hi Mike, I have the same mower I bought off someone recently. I did everything you did in the video. It still will not start. Is there anything else I can try?
Check that the plug is good and you are getting spark. If it is and still not starting then try a little starter fluid. If it is still not starting check the compression or put it on the side of the road. Once they lose compression they really are not worth messing with. Good luck
czcams.com/video/uwEXb206NFI/video.html
nice
Thanks curly!
My mower ran fine a few months ago. It sat but no gas in it. Filled it with new gas and the engine just wont turn over. Wonder if i need to do all this..
Only one way to find out
What about the self drive quit working that’s my problem and it’s not adjustment on the cable my lever just doesn’t get tight
That is outside my lane. Just start taking stuff apart and you will figure it out.
Just watching videos to try and figure out how to fix my lawnmower.... Shut the fuel off, dropped the bowl then reassembled w/ no idea what wasn't working and now it works great. What in the hell did I do.... LoL
You are awesome, you fixed it! You cleared out the blockage that was stopping the fuel from getting to the engine. Now time to fix more broke stuff, get you sum!
I put a new carburetor on my Briggs Stanton Snapper and it shows no sign of wanting to start. The rope pull good. Any suggestions.
Try checking the spark. I have a few videos on it.
@@MowerMike OK. thanks. I will wait until Rain stops here in Central Calif. But I heard it takes 2 people to check spark. But I will find someone to help me.
Hi, I followed this video and my mower went from not starting at all to starting up but running kind of sputtery and eventually peeteriing out all together. Is there an extra step I need to do? also, I've noticed that the bottom of the corroborator bowl gets kind of moist and dirty when I run the mower. Does that mean that it's getting flooded some how? If so how would I take care of that? Thanks for any help you can offer with this!
I suggest draining the fuel from the tank and getting a new carburetor on it. Your needle above the float is probably clogged.
@@MowerMike Hi Thanks for your prompt reply! So I bought a whole new carburetor and just installed it and now the mower won't start at all! Is there a step I'm missing? do I need to prime it or something? Thanks for all your help.
@@bobisbbluIt may not be priming. Try either shooting air into the hole in the red nipple thing or splash a bit of gas in the carb. If it starts and runs then you know it isn’t priming.
FIXED! Bought everything you recommended, followed your video and BOOM started and ran like new for about 30min until I stopped the mower to take phone call. Went to start it back up and noticed gas leaking from the bottom of the air filter. I quickly switch out the air filter again got about 10min until it just shut off and gas started pouring out from the bottom of the air filter again. I went from the highest high to feeling defeted and about to give up haha any suggestions or should I have my man card revoked?
Haha nah you are good. Your float is probably leaking. I suggest getting a new cheapo carb
Thank you for posting this! You saved me at least $100! Do you have a video to help with a new weed eater not starting now?
Glad it helped ya out, you kicked that mowers butt! For a new weed eater just look up the instructions to start it. Usually you pump the bulb 6-10 times, put it on full choke and pull it a couple of times. And then when it starts out it on half choke or no choke. Make sure to pull the throttle lever all the way down while you try and start it. You got this
@@MowerMike we used it twice and it worked fine, but my son went to use it the other day and nothing…
It’s a black max.
@@christineboozer9980 Check there is gas in it and remember it has to have oil in the gas. Can’t just use regular fuel
Done, still won't start...
Does this mower have a fuel filter? Getting mixed answers.
Nope just a fuel line
If u bought a new carburetor how much should it be. ? Does 90 bucks sound ridiculous?
Yes that sounds way high unless it is the official original carb and not a Chinese knockoff
Hey I have one of these and I was gonna sell it and I was wondering do you know what type of oil it needs
Just regular 10w30 will work fine
DID YOU JUST SAY THE DRAIN HOLE IN THE BOLT WAS A JET, WTF, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA🤣
Yeppers look at one yourself
Hertz made The GCOAT There spokesman 😝
No idea what you are talking about but I totally agree with you.
What kind of cannister did you use to spray?
Carb cleaner, usually use gumout spray
Thank you.
If carburettor is clean what else can be not to run?
Check the spark plug make sure it is cleab
Dont we have to replace gasket everytime sonething open?
Nah just use the old one, is just a lawn mower
@@MowerMike okk hahaha im use to being told that over automobile but you right!
It would have been nice to hear how the lawn mower ran before you began
It didn’t run, that is the whole point
Do like Karl Childers did, in the movie "Slingblade": Check to see, if there's any gas in the gas tank!
Haha yep that would fix half my issues in life
I got a free one and can barely pull the rope. Is there a secret to starting ?
That means the piston is froozen up and the engine is shot. You can try pouring some tranny fluid into the spark plug hole to try and break it free.
Help. Problem. . Mow starts then when I stop to empty bag it will not start again, at least for 15- 20 minutes. Then it will start again. I went through the carb cleaning video did not help. Thanks robert
Mower maybe shot. Sounds like it is losing compression when it cools off or heats ups. You can try a compression test or just buy a new one.
@@MowerMike thanks for reply:)
@@MowerMike I was able to mow solid for 15 minutes, just took off bag….
