    Will have to get a look at the Macwet next time I'm over. Having choices of intermediate sizes will likely be helpful. The closest thing to an ideal fit for me was a pair of Outdoor Research.
    As always, thanks for the video.

    Loving the podcast mate. I just can't leave a comment on Spotify. I also concur with the gloves, those are the same macwets I've had for a couple of years. I really like them.

    Agree that the MW aren't the warmest and not much use in the wet. The one thing that annoys me about them is where the neoprene and leather meet. The seam is right at the end of the finger , when I would prefer a smooth end. I would have brought the seam to where the finger nail is. But they are thin and useable when shooting. The Sealskinz that I was given are too thick for me, even with the trigger finger and thumb foldbacks, so I've never used them shooting.

    • @lloydyp
      @lloydyp  Před 3 lety

      The seam doesnt bother me as the fit is tight enough that I dont notice it.

  • @KFUURE
    @KFUURE Před 2 lety

    There are thin gloves out there that are thin and get warmer when wet....just depends what you want them for...?

    last time i used those sealskins was grouse hunting in october in norway, lost a capercaile because of the humidity and the layers inside the glove made it impossible to get the gun off safe. Big trauma! October in Norway is freezing in the mountains, so i thougt it was a good idea to bulk up... So your concern regarding safety is consensual:) ill try those macwets. Some nitril disposable gloves underneath or over one layer gloves, will make any glove windproof and keep hands warmer. If the gloves are dry, over. If all vet, one disposable glove next to skin and one on top. Still u should operate firearm without any loss of control.

    I’ve had MacWet gloves now for a couple of years, excellent gloves but can’t say they keep my hands warm compared to non shooting ones, if that makes sense!
    I’ve used hand warmers the type you can reuse.
    We don’t get as cold as you down south!

    Thanks for this Lloyd, if you're looking for a fair comparison with Sealskinz perhaps try the Sealskinz "shooting" glove or "Hunting" glove. I'm a lucky Scotsman who doesn't need (thinner) cold weather gloves but when it's really cold and wet you can't beat Sealskinz "hunting"; a leather trigger finger and tactile leather palm and thumb allowing that dexterity you were looking for. The "Shooting" glove is good but they replaced a Velcro fixing for the hinged trigger finger and thumb with small magnets. The magnets catch cartridges by accident and can be pulled out of your pocket or bag and dropped, not ideal. The Hunting Glove will give all the use with your dog too; I've a cocker and Lab and the glove never fails. I can't comment any more than you've given on the MacWet but they are basically an all-weather golf glove which can be purchased at a fraction of the price, just as well you get them free of charge. All the best and keep up the good work.

    • @lloydyp
      @lloydyp  Před 3 lety +1

      I hate the finger flip style gloves for shooting. They are grand for stalking as your trigger time is limited, but clay shooting is much more trigger intensive, and you are always in and and out of pockets for carts where I find the finger thing just p***es me off.

      @@lloydyp try the hunting ones Lloyd, they are fixed finger and the longer you use them the more sensitive they get; they need a little wearing in.

      I'm afraid the most miserable I have ever been wildfowling was wearing a pair of macwets on the north bank of the tay in a storm. In the end took them off and my hands started to warm UP in the rain and wind.
      Mine were an early pair, but even then the name "macwet" is disingenuous.
